    Ikr I was watching this movie and a woman walks in on her daughter puking into the toilet followed by inaudible dialogue and from that we are supposed to infer "the girl is pregnant" because it couldn't be bulimia or an anxious stomach. ( yes it could be a bug or food poisoning too but since its supposed to be a big emotional moment I went with more plot relevant explanations what are equally as probable)

    Funny story. When I was pregnant I remember distinctly a topic about movies vs reality when pregnant on some random radio station. The radio hosts were joking about when the water breaks and it's like a ton of water and they are instantly having contractions and how "ridiculous" that was because it never happens like that. Since it was my first pregnancy I was eating this type of stuff up because I wanted to be prepared! Fast forward a few months and I developed polyhydromnios (severe amniotic fluid retention) and not only flooded my room when my water broke but indeed went straight into major contractions! 🤣. The clean up crew had to be called to mop up my situation so the nurses and doctor wouldnt slip and fall! So moral of the story... not every story is fiction haha and everyones pregnancy/ labor and delivery is different.

  • @TheRCSoldier

    @TheRCSoldier

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@faithbustos611 it's the opposite. We need to show pregnant women as being bigger when they're pregnant, because most women gain weight during pregnancy. Movies don't add that because being fat is seen as unattractive. Not having women look like they're gaining weight while pregnant leads to bodyshaming because people won't realize it's normal.

  • @eraldadevole

    @eraldadevole

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@witchby7420 idk where you live but where I do(europe) it is not uncommon at all. On my prenatal class that lasted months, none of the 15 other girls got fatter, just our belly got bigger, all different body types, a few were a little chubby but even them didn’t get bigger although our last 2 months covid had exploded and we basically were home 24/7 and very pregnant so didn’t move much. I was used to walk a lot, at least 5-6km a day. All of us got normal in a matter of days weight wise. The tummy area it did take longer, not bc of fat though. We have monthly appointments with our ob/gyns and they do weigh ins, one of the first things after saying “hello/how are you feeling” basically. If you go there with many extra kgs each month but don’t call it like it is(that you have been eating bad or too much and in that case they ask what you have been eating and advise you to be careful etc) it would be a reason for concern and extra tests to make sure everything is ok. If you watch what you eat and how much there is no actual reason to get fat during pregnancy, scientifically speaking. And I’m not talking about those few kg of water retention some may suffer during the last month of pregnancy. I didn’t have the famous cravings you hear about since you’re little. Maybe sometimes I would crave chocolate and that was unusual cause I don’t care about sweets usually nut still it wasn’t anything I couldn’t control if I wanted to, like any other craving everyone has. I chose to eat a fruit most of the time although I don’t care even for fruits but did it for tye baby. I hated even hearing about meat, raw onions(that I like) and chemical smells like parfume, candles etc. I think there is a lot of misconception about pregnancy, you’re going through a lot emotionally and physically, you’re scared, excited, another life is growing inside of you, starts moving, you can even feel them doing a somersault or having a hiccup etc. Can’t do the same things you did before, have to be careful, a lot of visits, tests, ppl touching you etc. I think some give in on cravings and foods they enjoy more than others. Mind you I have had pcos and hypothyroidism issues in the past prior to pregnancy and I have to be careful in general, theoretically I should have gained weight so easily, I didn’t just bc I ate normal and healthy most of the time.

    Yes, screaming immediately, lol! I did my share of screaming, let's be honest, but it was WELL after I started labour. 🤣 And the water breaking as the very first sign of labour! I was sooooo paranoid about that with my first. They ended up breaking the water manually. And for the other two, it didn't happen until the baby was pretty much out. Definitely not my first hint, even with the very fast one!

Her water breaks, she screams at her husband and pushes for 2 minutes, then gives birth to a toddler. And they never show the umbilical cord or placenta. They never show babies that are blue or purple- which is how most newborns look for a few seconds. They never show the babies covered in blood and vernix; they’re always clean 6 month olds. 😂 Edit: 10,000 likes? 😂 Y’all now the truth.

Imagine my utter shock when I found out to the contrary. 😆 She was also a footling breech baby, so an emergency c-section (which I was semi-conscious for and felt them tugging at my insides in the most bizarre experience of my life lol) was ordered because I was already in full labor, but thankfully everything went well and she's a happy, healthy kiddo who'll be 8 in January. 😁

    Also their birth giving position is always lying down on their back, in a hospital bed with a hospital gown on, while they’re screaming their lungs out and cursing. I’ve never given birth but I believe lying on your back is one of the least efficient and more painful positions to give birth in. And not every woman screams. Most birth videos I’ve seen are women completely in their own zone focussing on the pain and their breathing. All of it feels very male-gazey

    My twin and I were 2 months early. But we were taken out with an emergency c-section, because we got no oxygen. My mom lost a lot of blood, and all 3 of us could’ve died. Doctors told our parents, that if my sister survived, she’d be totally paralyzed and stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. We both had massive brain hemorrhages, but we all survived and are healthy and well functioning. We found out I had ADD a couple of years ago, which may be due to brain damage at birth. But that’s about it. So yes, being born premature is in general very dangerous. But sometimes they turn out ok.

    Depends on the babies. One of my singletons was three weeks before my due date and she was perfectly fine, no issues. My high risk twins were born at 34+5, would have been delivered at 35 weeks anyway due to other issues going on, and they spent 30 days in the NICU as grower/feeders with no major issues but there have been twins born around 35 weeks who go straight home too. There are a lot of variables that go into what a couple weeks early can look like, and even babies who are "on time" can have complications that result in NICU time. There's also a misconception that a due date is like a scheduled day the baby is supposed to come on and it's more of a general estimate unless you're literally scheduling your csection and even then stuff happens.

He was there for the second, my dad, who was 11lbs and late and given birth to completely naturally…apparently he went really pale and after it was all over looked at my grandma, still looking ghostly and nauseous, and just said “we’re never doing that again…right?” 😂😂😂 yeah that was their last child

    About the vomiting thing- My mother when she was pregnant with my siblings (twins), was dropping me and my younger bro off at day care so she could go work, and threw up on the sidewalk before she dropped me off. She had apparently said “Fuck, I’m pregnant.” I vaguely remember this. I remembered the vomiting, but not the words. I was six. Point is, sometimes women do know. Even if it seems ridiculous, instincts are right. (SIbling order is: Me; 2004 Bro; 2006 Twins, boy/girl; 2011)
