Many of the times he mentions Xern is when the Pokémon he is discussing is a counter. It may be that most champs were running Xern counters instead of it itself, similar to how many anti-CHALK teams were made and placed highly.

There's a difference between competitive mons, VGC mons and Gameplay mons. During a gameplay you have to fight against specific pokemons, so considering this you need specific counters to those mons. Such as Zoroak being a really OP mon against Ultra Necrozma fight but being RUBL (rarely used ban list) in the same gen. While during single 1v1s you need pokemons which can be either versatile or be really good at one thing. Such as Alomomola being a REALLY overpowered tanky setup switcher. (also in gen 7) In a VGC battle the rules are far different so having a team (not one pokemon) as versatile as possible is extremely important. There aren't any general rules to these type of fights so go wild.
@achyuththouta6957
3 жыл бұрын
@@danielvicol3992 Honestly speaking you can win the gameplay with any Pokemon as long as you're like 10+ years old who decently understands the game. I won Pokemon diamond with a level 80+ empoleon alone and all other Pokemon in the team were below level 30

@@achyuththouta6957 I haven't played Pokemon in a while but at lv 80 your Empoleon was 20lvs higher than any other Pokemon you could encounter trough the main storyline, so ofc you had an easy time wining. But you could do that with almost (if not) all starters. Just get a lv 80+ Meganium with some low lv backup mons and any elite 4 will bow down to you.
@milesandrews6711
3 жыл бұрын
@@achyuththouta6957 yeah but some starters are just objectively better and easier to play with in game play Squirtle and bulbasaur are objectively better than charmander because of the early game Brock fight and misty fight as those are the hardest in the game other than Sabrina Midkip will always be objectively the beat hoenn starter due to its only weakness being grass and there being no grass bosses in hoenn And chimchar is just the best starter as he deals with Alot of things, be evolves early to get Mach punch for Roark He makes the galactic commander Mars fight a joke which is a fight that would otherwise be a huge pain due to purugly He also takes out empoleon in the end due to having type advantage against it Then there's also the fact that fire types are pretty rare in sinnoh and dare in general in pokemon games which buffs fire starters a bit and that's really the thing that pushes him on top of the other 2

I recently finished pokemon plat with only my Pipluo (yes unevolved) at level 79, Gardenia, Cyrus (in the distortion world) and Lucian were the biggest road blocks of the run but with some strategy you can defeat them! My final moveset was Blizzard Return Surf Grass Knot And if anyone is wondering why Lucian the problem was that his Mr Mime sets up screens that kept me from one shotting alakazam

Hey Wolfe this video was great, it made me want to see like a top 10 of the strongest Pokémon that HAVENT won the world championships, I think that would be super interesting!
Now Thundurus and Incineroar have 3 wins and Gastrodon has 2. Thundurus changed his role from a Prankster bulky hacker to a physical attacker. Incineroar has won 3 times in a row, ever since it got Intimidate, it's been everywhere. And everyone loves good old Gastrodon.
just letting wolfey know i love the consistent intro that never changes
Incineroar was usable since 2017, it's hidden ability released in 2018. Two years with Intimidate, two years world champion. And I guess the 3rd is coming soon.

Bc having Intimidate++1 priority is like...weird to put together yk. Like compared huge power+priority, being able to -1 your opponent, scare your opponent w a strong STAB or Bulky variant w set up...yeah I don’t see a flaw in Incin STILL esp being able to take normal dmg from Fairy and gets a hella fast move pool like HA Greninja 😅(Leech Life for some reliable recovery, Uturn cuz...y tf not??Knock Off, Snarl AND Brutal swing, Special/Phys fire move (Flare Blitz or Thrower) or Dark Pulse/Fire Fang for Para-flinch, and then hone claws and bulk up/roar for intel-based. Yeah,Incin can do a LOT for a starter in all actuality,keep on a mind there is not much offensive-supports such as what comes to mind is Terakkion since it’s physically bulky enough and offensive to set up for your team, itself, scare the opponent, and just being able to learn: strong STABs, HHand, Sandstrom, Swords Dance/Rock Polish, and Roar and set up Reflect was insane back in gen 5
I like the content for the online battles. I find winning when playing in person very easy, but I found that when playing online I can't figure out how to smash their switch so this is helping me a lot
Please keep up making the great content Wolfe! You inspired me to try VGC and it is probably my favourite competitive game ever.

I'm really enjoying the content and I'm also not sure if you have done something like this already, but I had an idea for a video. The premise being to go over the metagame for each VGC year, showing your team and what you would have done differently to make it to 1st.

With the exception of Nils Dunlop who got 25 points from 3rd and 5th place wins. This is the Top Pokemon Worlds Championships: VGC Masters Division from 2008 - 2019. It’s hard to find videos of them
14:39 I think Arash's Conkeldurr was Sitrus Berry + Drain Punch + Iron Fist. Once again a great video and interesting to look back at the worlds winning Pokemon. It was really interesting to see how many of the most dominant Pokemon ( MKang, Lando, etc) didn't win a lot. Is that mostly because metagames work really hard to counter them for worlds or people not bringing those because of that anticipation? Also out of curiosity would you ever consider doing a Top 10 Best VGC Pokemon of All Time (similar to the TCG equivalent video JWittz did a while back)?
Hi Wolfey, I appreciate you having to add the Pokemon one by one.
No Xerneas wins is by far the most shocking placement on this list. Great content as always man!
