He tried to motivate the team by doing little magic tricks, and even wrote a fight song, sung to the tune of, "As the Caissons go Rolling along." Frank Kush: I've never seen this repeated in any retelling of Elway's holdout, but at the time there was a story published by a sports journalist that the reason Elway refused to play for Kush was that Kush was an abusive college head coach. The specific item in the story was that he had his players in a wrestling room, paired them off, and required them to attack and subdue each other -- he didn't care if they injured each other. Jack Elway had heard about it during is time as a college coach. Quite similar to a nonsensical scene in the Val Kilmer movie Spartan.

Browns fans like me could not believe when they kept Jackson after he went 1-15, then 0-16. But when they finally fired him after he went 2-6, we hoped for the best. Gregg Williams, the Defensive Coach, stepped up and went 5-3! So the fired him, and replaced him with Freddie Kitchens, who promptly returned the team to a losing a majority of games.

John McKay when asked about the "Execution" of his offense replied "I'm in favor of it." Best line by a coach ever. He was a damn comedian and a coach.
