With the NFL being the cold, hard business that it is, there’s bound to be plenty of ugly breakups. Certain players and teams had so many great moments together, but ultimately, things fell apart, feelings were hurt, and everyone was forced to go their separate ways.
Over the years, all 32 NFL teams have had a highly-publicized, ugly breakup with one of their fan favorites. But which breakup especially stood out as the most bitter in your favorite team’s history? That’s what we’re here to uncover. So let’s dive right into it.

The Cleveland Browns & Bernie Kosar break-up got pretty ugly also. Might have been worse between Kosar & Belichick since he did cut Kosar when he was clearly the best option at QB back then. I was at the Browns first home game after they cut Kosar in the middle of the season. He was also a Cleveland fan favorite. The fans were not happy with some rooting for New Orleans because it was better than rooting on Belichick & Art Modell. They both insinuated that Kosar was washed up but it was really a personal problem between him & Belichick & Modell. B.K. went to Dallas, got a Super Bowl ring & helped them win a few games down the stretch when Aikman was injured in their Super Bowl '93 Championship season.

I thought for the Seahawks was going to be Earl Thomas. He flipped the bird on the Seattle sideline in his last game with them and he and Pete Carroll have not talked to each other ever since. This was followed up with another ugly breakup with Baltimore.

Long b4 drafting Jordan Love; THE A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers; not Alex "A-ROID" Rodriguez) was feuding w/Packers' mgmt (particularly GM Ted Thompson) bc of how minimal help he had @ WR. Sure; A-Rod was productive w/the WR corps he had but when most of his key targets (amongst WRs) left the team (albeit via trade or FA), Thompson's priorities in acquiring WRs was virtually non-existent (especially ovr the past 5 seasons even as A-Rod had 2 MVP seasons during that period).

Antonio Brown was one of the most dynamic “Killer Bs” alongside Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell on the Steelers but not before losing his grievance while ending up with the Raiders and Patriots! He helped guide Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV and demolish Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl LIV champion Chiefs 31-9 but not before Bruce Arians announced that he is no longer a member of the Buccaneers roster! Some of his scandals that involved him violating the league’s personal conduct policy really screwed over his reputation and made him less famous of a professional football athlete!

For Pittsburgh I get why AB is up there, but I really thought Terry Brashaw’s relationship was worse. Bradshaw while playing with Pitt didn’t like the fans, didn’t like chuck noll, and felt he wasn’t welcomed to Pittsburgh. He even felt that way since his rookie year all the way until his Heinz field appearance in the early 2000s after he did eventually repaired his relationship with the team, fans, and Chuck Noll by finally growing up. But after he retired he didn’t even set foot in Pittsburgh until the early 2000s Heinz field appearance. I guess y’all didn’t say Bradshaw because he did repair his relationship overtime and loves both Pittsburgh and chuck noll now but I would say the Bradshaw break up was worse then the AB break up considering how much more Bradshaw meant to Pitt then AB did and Bradshaw’s anger lasted longer then AB’s did

I don't know about the Montana one he knew that he was eventually going to be replaced by the supplemental drafts former first overall pick. And Bill Walsh was very vocal about his intentions and the aspirations that he had with Young. In comparison imagine if the chiefs just decided to draft the next QB 1 in a draft pick and sat him behind Patrick Mahomes this basically was the situation in San Francisco with Montana and Young who would have easily found the same success or close to as his mentor Cool Joe

And it wasn't an elbow injury. Montana was sidelined because he had lower back surgery. Montana DID retire a 49er. He signed a 1 day deal to do so. FTR, it was not at all clear Steve Young was going to be that successful. He had horrid runs with the Bucs and the LA Express. prior to coming to SF

I said he looked bad coming out of stints with the LA Express and the Buccaneers. Please elucidate and show us how these are HOF numbers. If Young hadn't sat behind Montana all those years, if he had been thrust into the 49ers starting lineup in 87, he'd be just another forgotten QB who couldn't make the transition to the pros. FTR, I graduated high school in 86, so I saw all of this unfold as it happened. Oh, and if you're going to make the argument that these were bad teams, which is undoubtedly true of the Bucs, the LA Express made it to the conference championship with Tom Ramsey under center in 83 Any other dumb comments?

AB is the type that would be celebrating when his team is down by 4 TDs as long as he is putting up the stats. He was twerking when they were losing but they were up by like 3 tds and was spiking the Gatorade jug on the sideline because he wasn't getting the ball. At least t.o. and Megatron wanted to win. I think AB wouldn't care if his team went 0-16 as long as he's putting up stats.

Buffalo Bills should be Pete Gogolak. He was a star kicker that revolutionized how kicking worked in the NFL and in 1965 he left the Bills for the Giants, which violated a gentleman's agreement between the two leagues to not poach the other league's players which would eventually lead to the NFL/AFL merger

The thing that sucks about AB is leaving the Steelers is that it was just completely unnecessary. His ego was too big and while at the time he blamed it on Ben I think more likely he was jealous of JuJu winning team MVP that season and the teams unexpected missing of the playoffs. He never played as good with Tom as he did with Ben. Just a fact, he had unstoppable chemistry with Ben and threw it all away over a miniscule issue

I’d argue Earl Thomas was the worse break up for the Seahawks.

Saints fan here. Jimmy Graham’s breakup was uglier, and the ugliest one of all was Junior Gallette, which led to a legendary Twitter meltdown (look it up, his sh!t talking was as hilarious as it was devastating)

Baker Mayfield is a big what if, if he didn’t make that tackle then he would still be starting for the browns.

Dishonorable Mention for the Niners: Terrell Owens. Not going to lie, thought they were going for the rule of 3 on TO ugly exits.
