With the NFL being the cold, hard business that it is, there’s bound to be plenty of ugly breakups. Certain players and teams had so many great moments together, but ultimately, things fell apart, feelings were hurt, and everyone was forced to go their separate ways.
Over the years, all 32 NFL teams have had a highly-publicized, ugly breakup with one of their fan favorites. But which breakup especially stood out as the most bitter in your favorite team’s history? That’s what we’re here to uncover. So let’s dive right into it.

You forgot the Lion's parting with Bobby Layne in 1957 when Layne said they would not win another championship for fifty years. We are at 65 years and counting.

For the Seahawks, I would have chosen Earl Thomas. Richard Sherman never flipped off Pete Carrol during a game like Thomas did. And Sherman was right about losing their way.

The Cleveland Browns & Bernie Kosar break-up got pretty ugly also. Might have been worse between Kosar & Belichick since he did cut Kosar when he was clearly the best option at QB back then. I was at the Browns first home game after they cut Kosar in the middle of the season. He was also a Cleveland fan favorite. The fans were not happy with some rooting for New Orleans because it was better than rooting on Belichick & Art Modell. They both insinuated that Kosar was washed up but it was really a personal problem between him & Belichick & Modell. B.K. went to Dallas, got a Super Bowl ring & helped them win a few games down the stretch when Aikman was injured in their Super Bowl '93 Championship season.
I thought for the Seahawks was going to be Earl Thomas. He flipped the bird on the Seattle sideline in his last game with them and he and Pete Carroll have not talked to each other ever since. This was followed up with another ugly breakup with Baltimore.
How is Earl Thomas not the ugliest Seahawks break-up? Dude shot Pete the finger as he got carted off and ran after Dallas telling them to come get him after a game.

Yeah, and some of the bitterness Sherman had against the team was over how they treated Earl Thomas.
Do a list of top 10 NFL trades that were a win for both teams. A few good examples would be the Tyreek Hill and Marshall Faulk trades.
That pronunciation of Edgerrin James 😂
I have a feeling this video is going to be updated the moment Aaron Rodgers gets traded to the Jets.

Long b4 drafting Jordan Love; THE A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers; not Alex "A-ROID" Rodriguez) was feuding w/Packers' mgmt (particularly GM Ted Thompson) bc of how minimal help he had @ WR. Sure; A-Rod was productive w/the WR corps he had but when most of his key targets (amongst WRs) left the team (albeit via trade or FA), Thompson's priorities in acquiring WRs was virtually non-existent (especially ovr the past 5 seasons even as A-Rod had 2 MVP seasons during that period).
Expected the Saints one to be Jimmy Graham
Vick was NOT drafted in 07 🤣
Steve Smith's departure hurt the entire fan base as well

Antonio Brown was one of the most dynamic “Killer Bs” alongside Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell on the Steelers but not before losing his grievance while ending up with the Raiders and Patriots! He helped guide Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV and demolish Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl LIV champion Chiefs 31-9 but not before Bruce Arians announced that he is no longer a member of the Buccaneers roster! Some of his scandals that involved him violating the league’s personal conduct policy really screwed over his reputation and made him less famous of a professional football athlete!

T.O. (49ers, Eagles & Cowboys) and A. Brown ( Steelers, Raiders, Patriots & Buccaneers) both left their teams in bad terms. Imagine having both on the same team. It would be nice but also big headaches
@adamriddle7425
Жыл бұрын
It would definitely be headaches, but if they figured it out(barely) for just one season that would be terrifying for the NFL
idk about the Seahawks. the Earl Thomas breakup felt way uglier than the Richard Sherman breakup.
I wouldn't call Cousineau even close to the ugliest breakup for the Bills. They traded Cousineau to the Browns for a first round pick in 1983. They used that pick to draft Jim Kelly.
I woulda figured that Bruce smith woulda been the bills. Broke my heart when he went to redskins
Tiki barber has to be wishing he just kept his thoughts to himself for one year for the rest of his life. And his brother will always be able to hold his super bowl ring over him as well.
For Pittsburgh I get why AB is up there, but I really thought Terry Brashaw’s relationship was worse. Bradshaw while playing with Pitt didn’t like the fans, didn’t like chuck noll, and felt he wasn’t welcomed to Pittsburgh. He even felt that way since his rookie year all the way until his Heinz field appearance in the early 2000s after he did eventually repaired his relationship with the team, fans, and Chuck Noll by finally growing up. But after he retired he didn’t even set foot in Pittsburgh until the early 2000s Heinz field appearance. I guess y’all didn’t say Bradshaw because he did repair his relationship overtime and loves both Pittsburgh and chuck noll now but I would say the Bradshaw break up was worse then the AB break up considering how much more Bradshaw meant to Pitt then AB did and Bradshaw’s anger lasted longer then AB’s did
Love you guys
Great Video as always! Please do a video with the rankings of all 8 NFL divisions after free agency (: It will be interesting to see how your rankings will change after the draft in April as well (:
Can you do 5 teams that need new players and 5 teams that need new coach/s
I don't know about the Montana one he knew that he was eventually going to be replaced by the supplemental drafts former first overall pick. And Bill Walsh was very vocal about his intentions and the aspirations that he had with Young. In comparison imagine if the chiefs just decided to draft the next QB 1 in a draft pick and sat him behind Patrick Mahomes this basically was the situation in San Francisco with Montana and Young who would have easily found the same success or close to as his mentor Cool Joe
@kekkomartin5848

And it wasn't an elbow injury. Montana was sidelined because he had lower back surgery. Montana DID retire a 49er. He signed a 1 day deal to do so. FTR, it was not at all clear Steve Young was going to be that successful. He had horrid runs with the Bucs and the LA Express. prior to coming to SF

I said he looked bad coming out of stints with the LA Express and the Buccaneers. Please elucidate and show us how these are HOF numbers. If Young hadn't sat behind Montana all those years, if he had been thrust into the 49ers starting lineup in 87, he'd be just another forgotten QB who couldn't make the transition to the pros. FTR, I graduated high school in 86, so I saw all of this unfold as it happened. Oh, and if you're going to make the argument that these were bad teams, which is undoubtedly true of the Bucs, the LA Express made it to the conference championship with Tom Ramsey under center in 83 Any other dumb comments?
Can you imagine being the coach of the Wide Receivers group of T.Owens, A.Brown & K. Johnson??? If you could keep them all happy fans could book their playoff tickets early. If they weren't kept happy, which one do you think snapped First?

AB is the type that would be celebrating when his team is down by 4 TDs as long as he is putting up the stats. He was twerking when they were losing but they were up by like 3 tds and was spiking the Gatorade jug on the sideline because he wasn't getting the ball. At least t.o. and Megatron wanted to win. I think AB wouldn't care if his team went 0-16 as long as he's putting up stats.
Didn’t know Vick had a half of game trajectory after getting drafted in 07 and getting cut in 08 😂😂😂
Buffalo Bills should be Pete Gogolak. He was a star kicker that revolutionized how kicking worked in the NFL and in 1965 he left the Bills for the Giants, which violated a gentleman's agreement between the two leagues to not poach the other league's players which would eventually lead to the NFL/AFL merger
As a bears fan I lover cutler he was my favorite QBs of all time I lover cutler❤❤
I thought TO would get the hat trick and then remembered the Montana stuff
Peyton Hillis and the Browns. That thing got ugly quickly.
Bro did he jus say Michael Vick was #1 in the 07 draft 😂😂😂...Don't slander if u don't know facts 💯💯...love da channel doh
Vick was drafted in 2001, not 2007...
calvin has mended things with Detroit and now works for them. :) good stuff though

Bobby Layne is Detroit's ugliest breakup ever.
Ironically, A Rod’s impending departure from the Packers was messy and acrimonious similar to how Favre left. It’s ironic that it’s become a full circle situation.
Every Team's Best Player from an FCS/Division 1-AA School
Chiefs fans be like "gee, I wonder if it's going to be Larry Johnson"
Tiki barber comes to my mind as a a giants fan
You guys should've finished off the trifecta for terrell owens he had just a big of ugly breakup from the 49ers as he did the eagles.
For Milloy, pats got the last laugh fyi. Beating the Bills 31-0 in week 17 and winning a Super Bowl that year.
I'd say Jim Brown's fight with ownership was a bigger split. He left in his prime and the Browns didn't have another run game for decades.

If you don’t count leroy kelly, greg pruitt, and mike pruitt.
How hard can it be to get a half decent training staff? Trent was fully in his right to be ticked off. “It’s just a brain tumor, no big deal.” 🤨
Junior Gillette was another option for the Saints
Jarvis with the phins 😔
San Francisco doing Joe Montana dirty
We need a video of an NFC and AFC super team where money doesn’t matter
The thing that sucks about AB is leaving the Steelers is that it was just completely unnecessary. His ego was too big and while at the time he blamed it on Ben I think more likely he was jealous of JuJu winning team MVP that season and the teams unexpected missing of the playoffs. He never played as good with Tom as he did with Ben. Just a fact, he had unstoppable chemistry with Ben and threw it all away over a miniscule issue
I forgot cutler was with the bears that long
What’s getting worse now is the most recent of Rodgers and Green Bay
Video idea: redraft the 2020 draft class please do it.
I feel like for the saints it was loosing brandin cooks, his relationship with brees was Crazy. Or vonn bell Ps im a steeler fan
I feel like the fallout between jim brown and the browns was much worse than baker’s
1:57 seriously? With the way Thurman Thomas left? Or Bruce Smith? They changed rules over how Kent Hull left(granted, that was mostly just money). Or Gogolack?? That whole thing caused the NFL and AFL to merge.
As a Saints fan there is two players I could think of that were worse that CJ. Jimmy Graham and Junior Gallet.
So many RBs on this list
Every best/worst FA moves from each team in 2023.
How was earl Thomas not the Seahawks one
When of this video at the tiki Barber part and it's hilarious how to keep Barbara had to totally eat crap on that one and Terrell Owens will be on this list three times😅 calling it right
homie said michael vick was drafted in 2007 unless i just misunderstood lmao
Calvin and the lions are good these days
New Orleans Saints: Chuck Muncie
Detroit Lions, Calvin Johnson???? Try Bobby Layne.
Even tho leveon is a jet on here he could be on here for the Steelers as wel
Art Modell literally forced Jim Brown, the franchise’s best all time player and arguably the best player of all time into retirement and we’re talking about Baker Mayfield 🤦🏼♂️
Cj Gardner Johnson has locker room issues.
Seahawks: Earl Thomas
I have no idea why the Jaguars haven't been relocated to another city yet.
Steve smith loves Carolina
Vick should still be in the hall in my opinion. He changed the game.

How about Saints and Jimmy Graham? That WAS a bigger deal.
Recency bias much? Jim Ringo with the Packers. I believe he went in to Lombardi's office with an agent. Asked for an additional $5000, and got traded before he left.
Vick was on a hall of fame trajectory? He threw for 3,000 yards twice and 20 TDs once and they were both with Philly when he got out of prison, only 2 winning seasons in ATL never was he on a hall of fame trajectory
Steve McNair was the ugliest breakup for the titans! You’ve gotta be kidding me having anyone else but him.
Go Titans!!
Biggest: Paul brown/Jim brown and the browns
I would argue the Detroit Lions was Barry Sanders.
For the browns it's obj and baker mayfield
How did you pick Casey over AJ Brown for the Titans?!
Nice video. However, as a Seahawk's fan, I beg to differ on your choice of Richard Sherman. Earl Thomas' exit was MUCH messier and more acrimonious than Richard Sherman's as supported by Thomas giving Pete Carroll and the Seahawks sideline the "Bird" as he was being carted off the field. Pretty ugly last game and visual as a Seahawk! 😂
Still upset about Ruggs
My favorite team is the _Arizona Cardinals_ and I could already tell you which _Arizona Cardinal_ is gonna make this list haha

Antonio Brow should be the steelers and bucs no cap
Trent Williams didn't have a brain tumor. He had skin cancer on his head. However, thanks Washington for giving us the best left tackle in history for being your inept selves. #9rEmpire
I thought Owens was gonna go 3 for 3.

Seahawks has to be Earl Thomas
I’d argue Earl Thomas was the worse break up for the Seahawks.
50 and 45 12:24
Saints fan here. Jimmy Graham’s breakup was uglier, and the ugliest one of all was Junior Gallette, which led to a legendary Twitter meltdown (look it up, his sh!t talking was as hilarious as it was devastating)
Raiders nations
Chiefs could’ve been hunt or leveon bell
Michael Vick wasn’t in the 2007 Draft he was in the 2001 draft 🤨
Baker Mayfield is a big what if, if he didn’t make that tackle then he would still be starting for the browns.
Vick was not drafted in 2007
michael vick was number 1 in the 2001 draft lmao 2007 draft.
Really upsetting that Vic spent less than 2 years for killing and torturing dogs.
Dishonorable Mention for the Niners: Terrell Owens. Not going to lie, thought they were going for the rule of 3 on TO ugly exits.
