To be fair they do have to add it keeping in mind every platform as well as the difference between Java and Bedrock coding. Also you have to keep in mind how mechanically unique each mob is. AND you also have to remember they are releasing updates on Java and bedrock at the exact same time, so it takes a while for each team to finish their job.

Sniffer: absolute garbage and adds some ugly plants. Tuff golem: yes it's a walking item frame but atleast it is good decoration and provides you with a servant

I would have picked the barnacle for the 2012 mob vote, it actually made sense for the theme of the update

The biggest problem is how mojang describe these mobs during their introduction, it always seems like it will be something better than what they actually give us with the final product

True, I voted glow squid because they made it seem so mysterious like “ooooh it’s glowing and it’s gonna hypnotize you, what else can this strange magical mob do?” If I knew it wasn’t even gonna glow then I would’ve picked the chillager. Then I voted sniffer because they said “it’s gonna find and dig up ancient seeds, what these seeds will sprout to become, you will have to wait and find out! They could be anything! Meanwhile the other two are a walking item frame and a hunchback with an enchanted iron pickaxe.”

Phantom 2.0 Also hunchback wasn't gonna give you specifically iron picks but rather random proably junk items. An iron pick was just an example. But at the end of the day, the fault lies in mojang for their record of poor implications. I'd consider even their latest vote mob the sniffer done poorly due to only getting two flowers.

It's not that they are describing it wrong, it's that the community takes what they say, and twist it to their own liking. For example, Mojang said the sniffer would dig up ancient seeds which the player could plant and bring back to the overworld... However, the community twisted it into, "new crop new light source new tree!" when in reality, Mojang had never intended on adding any crop. The allay the described as a mob that can pick up items and bring them back to a note block! But the community twisted it into, "Sorting system item transporter more inventory!" when all it was, was a mob that could pick up items really. The only mob I see that they may have communicated poorly is the Glow Squid with the whole hypnotizing thing, but the Glow Squid is probably the most useful mob vote mob so far. So Mojang aren't really the ones to blame, it's us.

I voted for the phantom because I was expecting them to do so much more with it instead of just "oh it gives phantom membrane"

I picked it cause the Rascal is useless late game and the tuff golem is a literal walking item frame.

2017: we picked the the phantom because the way it was described we thought we were getting a dragon that would be useful because we didn’t have mending yet Mojang made it look a lot cooler then it was (see the original mob design) 2020: up to this point mob votes were really small with just a pole on twitter and 10k-20k votes dream announces he wants glow squid and millions of dumb 6 year olds vote for it (literally the tragedy of all time) 2021: in my opinion this was probably the best mob vote because it wasn’t rigged or pushed to 1 side we got exactly what we voted for but they were very useless mobs mostly don’t do anything the glare was literally F3 the tuff golam sounded cool but I mean people voted for alley because it looked cute (can you blame them) 2022: it’s been debunked a million times it was extremely rigged we only got a description of the sniffer and we never actually knew what any of them did Mojang ended up ruining it and adding one of the worst mobs of all time literally just for lore 😔 (dude it’s super hard to get takes hours to hatch and only gives You flowers)

After the vote, they can focus on expanding the specific mobs features instead of all of them This might explain why they are usually cryptic. It is really just a concept they thought of. Players choose what sounds more interesting and then the developers try to intagrate it in minecraft

EXACTLY. Everyone always asks for a new type of golem but when we do get it in the mob vote everyone votes for the more useless mob. The flower seeds the sniffer gives are useless anyway they dont have any good use but were still voted anyway. The tuff golem should have one i mean.... think of the possibilities for glitching. Plus it can substitute for a more accurate sculpture for your art museum.

There is a difference, though. The Moobloom didn't add any new plants. The Sniffer did. Of course, since we were promised an archaeology update, we expected the Sniffer to tie into that and give us _interesting_ plants, and not just boring decorations. Heck, if they just gave them interesting versions of Suspicious Stew that would likely be enough for most voters. I will always be mad at the loss of the Chillager though. Allay was fine, though. Kinda ambivalent about that vote entirely, tbh. And if you're mad about phantoms, then sleep. We had absolutely zero actionable information about the mobs in the first vote, only bare-bone broad strokes in bullet-point format. All the other votes have us much more specific bullet-points.

And by then once its going, it takes several minutes to sniff per block and checks if its sniffed a block already, making farms practically impossible or at least illogical to build. The plants are more exciting than the mob, because the mob can't be found in the wild. Meaning the only way minecrafter will see it is by finding the egg and taking an hour to hatch and raise it, only to get 2 plants and then never need it ever again

the rascal would have likely only given you an iron tool with a mediocre enchantment. completely useless lategame and outclassed by villagers earlygame. tuff golem is unnecessary too but would have at least been a niche decoration. the sniffer gives two decorations that are actually useful in a variety of builds. also it’s the most unique and adorable, which gives it bonus points.

The most recent mob vote I was like “these are so good! Except the sniffer. I’ll be fine with any of these except the sniffer. The sniffer is so boring so nobody will vote it. Right?”

We picked the sniffer to get a ton of new plants, then Mojang gave us *two.* It’s not our fault they scammed us

I think the first mob vote options would have fit in with later updates. Barnacle: Update Aquatic Great Hunger: Wild Update or Caves and Cliffs Wildfire: Nether Update Phantom: End Update (When Mojang finally does one)

@@mr.lampshade Yeah, but it has some links with the end like the Elytra. It’s not really 💯 but MatPat thinks it’s the Evokers attempt to create a copy of the Enderdragon with the phantoms original color being black and originally had a separated jaw like the Enderdragon.

I would’ve picked the Rascal, because there aren’t many cave exclusive mobs in the game, and from the trailer, it looked like it would’ve updated mineshafts which haven’t been updated for while (not counting the chain and oak log supports)

@@Tanimations_ now riddle me this batman, what's the difference between following someone and hidenseak where you don't need to turn away or cover your eyes? also like yea the seeds are literally just decore, that's still better than iron tier tools in a structure made out of wood with ores for walls. Hell I specifically tried to get a diamond pic and damn everything else and someone as mid as me at the game got a diamond pick in 25 minutes on a random seed. My mans useless in the 1st 30 minutes of a world, an hour of you're slow.

Now I liked the Sniffer it adds more farming options which is an integral part of my playthroughs, like I literally have a farm every playthrough, it’s sustainable and is a great alternative to wasting time hunting for 6 pork chops 3 raw beef and 2 leather

@@Gotnameman not really. How would you configure it so that you would get a random outcome upon activating? With a copper golem, you can’t exactly control when it’ll press a button, at most, you can lift it up and down within reach of a button, but even then you’d have to wait for the golem to press the button afterward. With dropper randomization (droppers dispense a random item in their inventory, so you can use hoppers + comparators to detect items of different signal strength to simulate randomization) you can control the rate of randomization. Imo it would get more complicated to make a lottery machine with copper golems than droppers because it’s difficult to control the activation with copper golems

The tuff golem is just a allay but it can only hold one item, it can't fly, and can't transfer stuff either.

Why choose a walking item stand when you can pick something that makes caves more fun while giving you loot

The glow squid only won because dream told all of his goons to vote for it so it didn’t mess up his speedruns

Shut up. Modders have everything already. Mojang said that in the future they will consider redeeming mobs. Possibly in OTHER mob votes or to just be added. You know the 16hr crab guy? He didn’t spend a year with half of their focus trying to port a stupid bundle whilst also throwing in a massive update. He got the immediate idea, art and functions instantly. He had no other work to do but convert it into a mob. It’s not that simple.

They have a whole huge team of developers focused on making updates and new stuff. People say "oh, but modding is much easier than actually adding stuff into the game". I agree, but Microsoft also has everything needed for the mobs to be added into the game, yet they do the bare minimum.

I don't think you realize how often big game companies do this. Besides, Minecraft is a sandbox game and it doesn't need a lot of updates to make it playable. The whole point of a sandbox game is building and being creative. The whole reason Microsoft updates Minecraft is because they are trying to get as much money as possible. In my opinion, Minecraft would be just fine without *any* new mobs as the point is to be creative and have fun with friends.

I voted the sniffer back then because Mojang made it seem like there would be a ton of new plants and foliage from the sniffer but we only got 2 plants :l

Moobloom would have been cool. It would have been a third variant so you could have still gotten leather as well as beef but you could have also have used them for bee farms

Why doesn't mojang add the ones that didn't win one week later

We kinda all got shafted thinking the phantoms were gonna be cooler, but honestly the glow squid provided a ton of extra utility to signs that were needed in the game and would not have been added without, and the sniffer is adorable and adds new flowers that really can spice up some decoration (and it's adorable).

I hope the sniffer can trace suspicious sand in the future, that will be cool, or maybe he could extract the itens from the suspicious sand, something more useful

Another thing the community does that can really make the results seem toxic for a long time after the vote is adding the mobs that weren't chosen through mods. It's not a bad thing ofc, but sometimes modders take liberties and suddenly a mob that was supposed to display your items was "supposed to be an autocrafter".

Fair, but tbh, we can already display our items via item frames and armor stands. It would be so much more interesting if you could give it a specific crafting recipe, enough inventory slots(preferably a multitude of 9) to craft that item, and suddenly the mob gets a lot more interesting. If it were just an entity displaying an item, we can create the same thing with a few blocks and an item frame, which would create less lag.

the Phantom and the Sniffer were great ideas, its just that the developers absolutely fumbled the execution of them and never went back to improve on it for some reason

Honestly I think the sniffer had so much potential but they just added a torch flower one other flower, Like I was expecting like a new food or potion or effect not some plants

he starts off: mobs to make parts of the game harder, and then when there are only passive he chooses his choice

Yes but also, mojang tells us nothing about the mobs. People voted for the glow squid cause they thought it would... you know, glow. They choose the allay, because all the other other options were lame, and some people thought the allay was gonna duplicate items. They picked the sniffer pertially because they thought the plants would be more than just decorations. All of this is mojangs fault of not communicating clearly, all though mojang did disclose more details, they werent in the acctuall video, rather scattered across twitter, their website and the videos describtion, and only like 5% of people wouldve found all those.

What I like about the sniffer is that it's a mysterious animal, I mean, is a mammal with six legs that lay eggs and has a beak, so it's a monotreme

I would have picked *Barnacle* as we don’t have enough hostile ocean mobs, or ocean mobs in general for that matter. All other mobs seem useless

@@FreaksKnight yes you’re right, lots and lots and lots of little fish. Dolphins are always a breath of fresh air when I see them too. But I’d like to see more sharks 🦈, whales 🐋, seafaring birds 🦢 🦅. As for hostile mobs, guardians are locked to their temples, and I’m not a fan of the drowned.

I think it'd be interesting if eventually all the mobs in the vote got into the game, it was just made into a vote to see what they should add first among the pack

I feel like the great hunger wildfire and barnacle would be just as annoying as the phantom

The hunger was my favourite. I just love the concept

After the first two mob votes, Mojang learned their lesson and started producing one high quality and very fleshed out mob that fits the theme of the update they are planning to add it in and two nothing junk mobs to be eliminated in the vote to give the community the illusion of choice.

The Tuff golem is a walking item frame and the sniffer gives us to new plants

i really wanted the glare to get added tbh.. i loved its design

I think that the sniffer was a fantastic choice. Sure it doesn't do much rn, but Mojang can very easily implement more plants in future updates. Even if they "don't have a use" the plants can still be amazing decorative blocks for builders.

My issue is it has a memory system and remembers where it digs up plants, it cannot dig in the same place twice making it annoying to farm unless you make a farm to break how the memory system works. Whereas the other mobs don't require this stupid knowledge the majority of people don't know.

They need to expand on or tweak some of these mobs more. Like make the glow squid glow or give it hypnotic abilities like they tricked people into thinking it had, give the Sniffer the ability to sniff more plants that look nice or have some purpose, like how about a some gradient dye??
