A Profitable metal worker buys whatever tool does the best job in the shortest time. You CAN cut angles with a hacksaw, but you’re an amateur if you do.

@@christopherpardell4418 If you wanna be profitable you should have skills to do the jobs without expansive tools it's called know how...without any skills the tools are useless...IMHO cuz you can't buy for every job a special tool...

@@alterstassfurter5743 A special tool does not replace knowledge nor expertise. A fancy steel cutter won’t make you any smarter or more talented, it just means you spend less time cutting steel, and more time using your talent at actual fabrication. I CAN cut stone like the egyptians did, banging granite with a chunk of basalt, but just how “skilled” would you consider a sculptor who was not up to speed on the fact that there are better, more accurate, and faster means of cutting stone? I was trained in the old world tradition of sculpting… but let me tell you, the minute CNC milling in foam and scanning was invented, I was among the first artists USING it to replace the old world method of pointing up a sculpture. The only difference aside from time saved? In a traditional point up I might be able to measure 300 to 400 points on an entire sculpture to do the math to then transcribe those points onto a larger model. With computer controlled milling from a digital 3D scan, I am capturing 300 points PER INCH over the entire surface and transcribing those points to a larger model. When I have to fabricate in steel, I turn to waterjet cutting from a digital layout of the parts generated from a 3D model I designed on a computer so I know the parts will fit perfect. And I make some pretty large things. fallbrookartinpublicplaces.org/art.php?PersonID=381&ShowBio=1&ShowArt=1
