It is such a simple track that is made by someone’s first time making a racing track. But it is way more complicated than it looks.

One other thing that I love about baby park is that in Mario kart 8 deluxe the music gets faster with every lap, making it even more chaotic.

Yeah I’m going to have to disagree strongly on Wario Colosseum. I can understand where you’re coming from, but I absolutely loved the cage aesthetic. Also the scale of the course just felt so big, and that part where you spiral down is so much fun. I’m eagerly awaiting to see if it appears in Deluxe.

It's the map I most associate with double dash and the one we always loved as kids. It was long, hard ;) and hectic! I remember playing double dash for the first time and being absolutely blown away by that stage.

@@egbertmilton4003 It's one of those courses where you "get it" or you don't. For the crowd who "gets it", it's easily top 3, vying for #1. Seeing someone say your favorite track is mid hurts.

Double Dash really has some amazing tracks! I especially love the eyes they put onto absolutely everything for no reason, I was just never a fan of the slippery controls to fully appreciate each track. Also Petey's face in the thumbnail is my reaction to seeing my pixel art appear at 18:40 lol

The MKDD speedrunning community loves talking about their own track rankings once every few months, and a while back we got together to make a community track tier list (completely subjectively and with no specific criteria lol). I thought people might be interested, so here it is! C-tier: 16th: Baby Park 15th: Daisy Cruiser 14th: Waluigi Stadium 13th: DK Mountain B-tier: 12th: Bowser's Castle 11th: Dino Dino Jungle 10th: Sherbet Land 9th: Mario Circuit 8th: Rainbow Road 7th: Luigi Circuit 6th: Dry Dry Desert 5th: Wario Colosseum 4th: Yoshi Circuit A-tier: 3rd: Mushroom Bridge 2nd: Peach Beach 1st: Mushroom City Keep in mind that this is a tier list made by speedrunners, so complicated tracks that are fun and exciting for casuals are also very hard and frustrating to optimize for competitive players. Also Baby Park is everyone's favorite casually but people go insane running in a circle alone for hours at a time lol

Hearing the Rainbow Road lyric song while he's talking about the course was such a delight. Thanks for that sweet, sweet nostalgia.

This was my first Mario Kart game, and easily the one I'm most nostalgic for 🙂

technically same, though 8 was the first i ever owned (or borrowed, in the case of the wii u version). there was a children's dentist in my hometown area which had two gamecubes in the waiting room. the games that they had were almost always mario kart and super monkey ball, though every now and then there'd be something else, like paper mario or madagascar.

I love that Baby Park is in the top 3. It's fsr one of my favourite tracks in the franchise, and it's for pretty much the same reason why James loves it. The fact that the music speeds up for each lap in the MK8 version makes it better. Props to MKDS for introducing me to such a chaotic yet awesome track.

Hearing James talk about a childhood game of mine is seriously heartwarming

I encourage anyone reading this to try the coop mode in double dash. It has my single favorite mechanic in any Mario kart: punching. The person not driving the vehicle can use L and R to punch to either side. The main use of this is to spin out nearby drivers and steal their items, but the spicy part is that it shifts the vehicle a not insignificant amount to the direction of the punch. Me and my brother got genuinely good with this mechanic, and I had saved him from sliding off the edge more times than I can count. And it's not always a good thing, as the driver has no say in the motion and it can really mess up their driving, so it's a very risky tech. I love it.

My siblings and I always started every round of Double Dash with mayhem at Baby Park. The caveat was that we were not allowed to play any other course until everyone had won at Baby Park. Brutal? Absolutely. Worth it? YES.

Dude just put Peach Beach, a track with only a few turns more than Baby Park and four times as stretched out, above Wario Colleseum and Sherbert Land.

Here is my Double Dash Tracks ranking D Tier 16. Baby Park: the layout is so boring. 15. Sherbet Land: The ice physics are so annoying but a least the layout is not boring as Baby Park. C Tier 14. Luigi Circuit: There are some interesting things like the the dash panels and the hidden paths and Luigi’s Mansion and cheerful music. 13. Mario Circuit: Peach’s Castle is in the Middle of the road but a least the music is cheerful. B Tier 12. Peach Beach: The music is nice and the hidden pipe that gives you double item box but the ducks are annoying 11. Yoshi Circuit: I like that the is a helicopter, hidden paths, and the shape of the Yoshi but I think it felt like a wasted potential and I wished it was themed more on Yoshi Island. 10. Dry Dry Desert: Desert tracks are underrated and this track is underrated. I like that there is a tornado and the quicksand with the green piranha plant. A Tier 9. Mushroom City: I like how it takes place in the city but it is kinda hard to drive but it’s still great. 8. Mushroom Bridge: Better than Mushroom City. This track is more interesting than its sequel thanks to the warp pipe path, sidewalk routes, the references to Mushroom City and Mario Circuit, and the cream of the crop, the bridge route. 7. Daisy Cruiser: It reminds me on going on a boat at Puerto Peñasco and there is a swimming pool and a restaurant but I wish the was a bedroom but it’s very great. 6. Waluigi Stadium: The sunset is gorgeous and it is very fun with amazing music and functional piranha plants. 5. DK Mountain: I really love to see a volcano but at least I took shots of people at mountains and the cannon launch is awesome. S Tier 4. Dino Dino Jungle: The Jurassic World Ride was awesome and so was Dino Dino Jungle. The Dinosaurs are very nice additions to the game but the top 3 are even better. 3. Bowser’s Castle: What make this Bowser Castle better than other bowser castle with Exception of Wii Bowser’s Castle and N64 Bowser’s Castle is that there’s a giant mechanical Bowser which spits fireballs at you. 2. Rainbow Road: I like that this Rainbow Road takes place at a city instead of space and the rainbow cannon and the items being thrown and the music is awesome. 1. Wario Colosseum: this track is an amazing track and what sets this track from most of the tracks except for the section tracks is that there is 2 laps instead of 3 laps. The place is crazy with cages and the nighttime is cool. This track is one of my favorite Mario Kart tracks of all time.

I remember not liking DK Mountain because I thought the jungle theme was lame but the track itself really grew on me. Hitting the tight corners flawlessly down the mountain felt so good.

baby park is my favorite. its such a simple track yet so chaotic. you can be 1st on the last lap and turn into 6th place easily. also my go to characters were bowser jr and diddy kong for the giant banana and bowser shells. i felt like they get their special item pretty frequently compared to some other characters

@SchaffrillasProductions It's possible that GCN Mushroom City could come into the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, but a couple to few of things have to happen in order to "boost" its chances. 1.) GCN Mushroom City would have to be the starring Retro Track for a new tour in Mario Kart Tour. In the track's case, it needs to be a "Metropolis Tour" - a tour centering around tracks taking place in metropolises (Ex: New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Riode Janeiro, etc.). 2.) Athens Dash, the latest of the City Tracks, should be in the Spiny Cup in Wave 6, as Athens Dash mostly takes place on the ancient ruins rather than the city itself. And 3.) Mushroom City has to be the 2nd or 3rd track of the Spiny Cup after Athens Dash, so that Mushroom City will be the "City Track to end all City Tracks". I could be wrong, though; and ultimately, we'll just have to wait and see.

Glad to see more debating on Wario’s stadium, cause while i absolutely love it for its difficulty and very ‘weird’ 2 lap length, the setting is definitely a problem. Now a MK8D remaster? Ooh boy that would be a spectacle, they could give it an actual personality and fix its main issue

I will defend Sherbet Land’s inclusion in Mario Kart 8, they made it way better with the optional water portions and the gorgeous nighttime setting.

Actually Schafrillas, you might get your wish to come true. The BCP brings tracks from Tour, and one of the upcoming datamined tracks for Tour is either Mushroom City or Mushroom Bridge (all we have right now is the music). Most likely one of them will make it to the BCP! Also Baby Park in the top three is BASED 😂👏👏

Nice to see you do this for a change on your channel. This was always something I played with family and relations when I was younger; this was the version of Mario Kart besides the 64 version that I was most familiar with and played constantly. Always a fun time. Regards, Samuel Farris.

DK MOUNTAIN RETURNS

YESSS DK MOUNTAIN AT THE TOP. I grew up with this game and DK mountain was always my go to track. Shooting out of that cannon and driving up the side of a VOLCANO was the best. That bridge can die though, I always fell off on that thing.

Wasn't expecting double dash to be next. A surprise to be sure but a welcomed one

18:58 & 19:24 Can't believe the infamous Melting Homer scene and a SMG4 clip would fit a course's description but it fits so well honestly

Wario Colliseum is so fun though, bleeeeh. I remember being really wowed by it as a kid. I probably need to revisit it now to try and figure out what made it click for me, but if I had to take a shot in the dark, Colliseum to me hits the same highs as Dragon Driftway. The color palette of Colliseum is just very memorable, and the uniqueness of the track compared to the other 15 in DD really feels so very Wario.

I think also, the atmosphere and overall look of it, too. You really felt high up in the cagey tracks and the sounds of landing on the metal parts after a ramp, and unless I'm crazy, I think there's a subtle clacking noise when you drift on the wirey parts? Either way it's such a fun vibe

I'm really excited to see what you have to say about the DS courses since none of the courses that returned in DS have been talked about, but DS courses that have returned have been talked about. I hope that there's good things about it since it's my personal favorite!

The craziest thing about OG Baby Park is that in addition to all the insanity inherent to its miniscule nature, is that on that RAREST occasion, you might get absolutely obliterated by the Red Wiggler Rollercoaster smashing across the course as you're crossing its tracks, or worse yet, a Bowser shell redirected by it.
