As someone who actually does magic for a living, I'm split on the video. Most of the revealed methods are spot on, but multiple reveals are either inaccurate (like the David blaine levitation), lacking important details (like the scotch & soda) or simply showing methods that are, while technically a method you could use, not at all what would usually be used to accomplish the named effect.

The needle through arm is literally just putting a needle through your arm. The 18 minute breath hold is also real. The record is over 24 minutes. These endurance types of magic are meant to be real as a way to push the limits of the human body. If a magician fakes these types of ‘tricks’ they would be exposed as frauds and laughed out of the community. The entire point of the needle through arm trick is to make the people who are watching a literal needle going through an arm think it is fake or an act. That is literally the trick. If you were to fake it, it defeats the entire purpose of the trick. Just like faking a breath hold would defeat the entire purpose of the trick.

@@fry_fr I knew you were going to say that. I must be a mind reader. I don't disagree at all. The message is understood by the visual demonstration...and ONLY by the visual demonstration...to be incorrect. Should you learn this trick simply by reading it, you wouldn't be able to do the trick because the description is inaccurate. You'd spend most of the time wondering what you were doing wrong and why you can't figure out how to make the "latter" coin disappear. Seeing the demonstration is what enables the listener to immediately realise that the sentence is wrong, grammatically, because the tense of the the word used is incorrect. ✨Presto-Change-o!✨

They usually use quite a large needle. And if done correctly, it doesn't just look like it's going through the skin but quite a bit further right through the flesh. It also appears to go in smoothly, without much resistance and the magician showing no pain (it's usually combined with a story about how they learned to ignore pain). And sometimes they pull it out and there's no blood. The video basically just explains the mechanics. The actual trick is what you make of it.

The last one might be right for some people, but you actually can with practice hold your breath for quite a long time. The record is 24 minutes and 37 seconds by breathing a higher percentage oxygen before the attempt and the record for someone breathing normal air is 11 minutes and 57 seconds. I tried to do this myself when I was younger and in only an afternoon of practice I was able to hold my breath for over 6 minutes. There is even a guy that performs a sort of underwater play with his wife who using the higher concentration of oxygen before going down regularly holds his breath for 17-20 minutes.

Just get a valve installed connecting your lungs or trachea to the surface of your back or neck and hide your oxygen delivery tube. You could also use a series of small compressed oxygen cannisters which release into your lungs or trachea at a controlled rate, transitioning cannisters as the current one gets low. ..maybe you could install a tiny CO2 to O2 converter in the lungs - that'd be clutch.
