In my place, the Red belt is only used during belt promotion or when conducting Kumite.

My shotokan teacher, was an 4 degree black belt, and past the red belt all our exams were made by ou national federation. It comes like this, white, yellow, orange, green, blue, red ,brown and we had 3 brown degrees. And normally it would take 2 yeard before each exame, ive made it to brown 3rd dan back to back. My sensei was a manufacturer, he even made your belt darker if you were exceptionally well in the exam.

there are few black belt levels and few kinds of karate... plus they just showed the skill that comes with learning on surface level and nit actual skills

I remember I went to karate classes for a free week only went twice as I couldn't keep up they had me day 2 doing double crescent kicks I believe they where with the statement of "I wonder if you can do this" I did it and master konely had more faith in me then I did

My dad is going to put me in karate soon but i think il do good because i watched the whole cobra kai show and karate kid movies

Just to note. the belt ranking depends on the style, i practice shitoryu style amd this are like half our rankings 💀. Plus at whitebelts we practice pretty advance techniques for other styles.

I literally learned all that when i was on purple /green belt. Like was i at black belt level at just purple/ green
