In hindsight Jade was very obviously insecure and had many, many other issues below the surface. She may have been toxic but I think why Beck handled her so well was because he knew her beyond that. I think if this show wasn’t written for kids and had a deep dive into her character and had her work through some things it would’ve been a very deep and untouchable type of relationship

Not much people realize how deep this line really is. Their relationship is making up for each other's weaknesses. Beck cools down jades fiery temper, if u notice he always says when she's acing out so he can calm her down, they balance each other out. And when they broke up Beck told Jade she was ridiculous as a a habit of cooling her down, and she said what does he care, she's not his girlfriend anymore, meaning he doesn't have to cool her down anymore. Once I realized this I thought it was so perfect.

They are the embodiment of "Opposites attract" My parents actually have this dynamic even after them being married for 30 years. My dad is a calm collected man, while my mom is an anxious tempered woman I use to think they would divorce at some point growing up, but I learned that that's just their relationship; They balance each other out. It is not logical to make a series of university students, when some of their characters have already turned thirty, others are close to reaching that age, practically some of these characters should already be married, with children and stagnant in their working lives.

Jade is definitely the type of girl who doesn't feel insecure. But the way Beck treated his gf would make even a girl like Jade tick. She put up with him a lot.
