Wow! Another Peter venkman/Garfield connection. For those who don't know, both Bill Murray and Lorenzo music played venkman and Garfield in live action and animated forms respectively(well, Murray's Garfield was CGI but you know what I mean). It's like these two completely unrelated characters are inextricably linked by the chaos of the universe.

David Crane's Ghostbusters from 1984 remains my favorite to this day. I find it sad how the reputation of a bad NES port has colored opinion on the game. The game was well received in its time, and for good reason. It did a tremendous job ob implementing various elements of the source material into a game, something unheard of at the time. You don't just shoot ghosts, you use your proton beams and traps just as in the movie. You can buy equipment to suit your play style, also largely based on the movie in its effects. You are running a business answering calls from clients to catch ghosts, much like they do in the movie. And also money is an issue, as it is when they set up their business in the movie. You drive around in Ecto-1 to go move around the basic open world. And when keymaster and gatekeeper meet Zuul appears. This game is a classic and did a fantastic job in its day. It tries to offer more from the movie than any of the later games did. Of course you cannot judge a 1984 game by modern standards, but seeing the discrepancy between this video and how the game was actually regarded back then makes its description here sound really ignorant.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game for console and PC is the best game of the series. It feels like a propper "Ghostbusters 3" sequal and is the last time we'll ever see Harold Ramis reprise his role as Egon Spengler. Recently they released Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. A great asymmetric multi-player game with some really obscure refferences from the entirety of the franchise. Some of the customizeable options you can add to your Ghostbuster (customizeable characters will always be a plus) actually take from the 80's action figure line, the Real Ghostbusters, the Extreame Ghostbusters, and 2016 Ghostbusters. The last bit of DLC they added was free. Plot wise, it takes place between Afterlife and the upcomming Frozen Empire film. It even has Ernie Hudson and Dan Akroyd reprising their characters. It's fun game that gave my brother and I our childhood wish fulfillment. Oh and it's also cross platform whitch is always a plus in my book.

I actually quite like the stylized version of Ghostbusters 2009. The player models looking somewhat more cartoony evokes The Real Ghostbusters in a fun way, the way they abridged the story segments actually means the gameplay parts shine through more, and it features male and female playable characters, which is of course a little more inclusive. And it still has the full original movie cast, so the flavour of the game is still pretty on point.

They also had a role playing game, which I found out by buying the majority of the content from dollar stores. It wasn't bad, definitely true to the franchise and full of some really funny writing.

Am happy to see New Ghostbusters II on the NES on this list, I used to love playing that game, and it was far more enjoyable than Activision's game. HAL Laboratory gave us some great titles on the NES, Kirby's Adventure, the Adventures of Lolo series, and New Ghostbusters II!

I think the Extreme Ghostbusters game on PSone was actually re-released in 2004, the original game I believe was 2001 like the Game Boy game. For some reason, Argos went big on Ghostbusters stuff around that time as I can remember the toys and games being featured in the catalogues, much like Thunderbirds in that sense. But yeah, a bunch of PSOne random games were re-released in 2003/2004 for some reason with newer PEGI age ratings over the older ELSPA ones.

would have ranked the 1984 version (with all the systems) higher. I played it as a kid on my C64 and later also found the master system version to be the best. Still give it a go a few times a year (with save points on an emulator because the stairs and gozer are horror!)
