I fish a ridiculous amount, and this is good info, generally speaking. But what still escapes me is why, many days, and for certain fish like large trout in lakes, I can fish for them say 6 hours, and only experience a bite for maybe a 1/2 hour period? Sometimes this will happen at first light, sometimes at 10AM, or noon, and very often I'll hit a bite around like 3-4PM, when no one else thinks to fish. It's just bizarre!

Since fish are cold blooded in nature, they really can’t spend a lot of time in water that’s been warmed up by the sun. The water temperature is usually perfect for fish right after the sun rises in the morning because the water isn’t too warm or too cold. Therefore, fish are more likely to hang out at the surface and feed at that time. And when the water heats up later in the day, fish tend to dive deep to stay cool. Fish are also sensitive to bright light and will dive deep when that sun is too bright. The sun’s rays are much softer during the early morning and late evening hours. And that’s when fishing will be much more productive. I hope this helps.👍
