As we return to Lower Trestles for the 2023 Rip Curl WSL Finals, look back at every excellent wave surfed since our Finals format started.
This is what everything has been building towards all season. After 10 events, the World Title will be decided in a one-day, winner-take-all event. The top five men and top five women enter, and after 12 must-see heats, one male and female surfer will rise from Lower Trestles as this year’s World Champions.

She's a five time world champ (going for number six) 3x triple crown champ, only surfer ever to win a world title AND Olympic Gold medal in the same year. So for being "robbed" she's being doing pretty good 😅😅

@@fungus_am0nguz644 Yes we all know that she has all of that, you didn’t say anything new! The thing is, last year she was the leader all the tour and lis the “finals day” and it’s happening again, she should be the prized as champion of the year again and may she will lose again! How come the whole tour is decided on one day at one very average wave????? Is it fair???????

@@felipevieira9328 I agree with you, been following the tour since Kelly's second championship in 94 (yeah im old lol) and not only myself but my friend and brothers (who are also surfers) have hated this rule since it was implemented. it is bs.

The problem is if Medina or any other replaces EE they will swap positions and it’s hugely unfair for Ethan to end in 6 or 7 or whatever since he worked for the 4th place. Let him have the place he deserves bcs injuries should not put an athlete in the situation of dropping places. What should make dropping places is bad performance not injuries.
