Rhyno should be higher. It may have been a short reign but the way he won it and the fact he was the final true ECW CHampion carries weight. He was the best heel in the company at the time, and him destroying the Sandman before he'd even had a chance to raise the belt. It may be poor timing but Rhyno as champion had more impact that probably the next 10 in front of him on this list.

completely agreed, the fact that Chavo is higher than Rhino is a huge shame on this list. Rhino had a great run at the end of ECW which is still pretty memorable for people who watched the original ECW.

Rhyno is literally the ECW Goldberg and one of my all-time favorites. He deserved a ton in his career, thankfully he's a first time champion in WWE and a final holder in OG ECW.

It’s also because Vince McMahon just flat out hates marijuana. He could look the other way when wrestlers were shooting themselves with who knows what (mostly steroids of course), drink like a fish or even harm their girlfriends or wives, but smoke that devil’s lettuce? Styles said the same thing word for word at Barlely Legal 1997 when Terry Funk won the ECW Heavyweight Championship.

William Regal should've been the final ECW Champion. As a thank you for everything he's done & even a fitting sendoff for ECW, having technical wrestlers shine amidst all the hardcore, I don't think any diehards would be upset at him retiring the belt.

He could barely cut a promo, had a reckless style not a lot of wrestlers in the bigger American companies wanted to wrestle against, and he dealt with a constant knee injury for almost his entire career. Even as a fan of Awesome, I can admit the guy wasn’t the total package at all.

ECW was more than hardcore wrestling. It was storytelling. Heat. Which McMahon could draw. Yeah stood against what ECW represented but that was the point. His storyline as ECW champ would've been dope of it wasn't lashley toppling him. RVD or dreamer would've been better. Jackson actually was against what ECW stood for. Guy had no charisma, terrible ring skills and couldn't talk for shit. You buggin 💀

Raven is my all time favorite wrestler. He was wasted in WCW and WWE.

I helped promote the Mike Awesome vs Taz show in Indianapolis. It was not on regular television. Heyman had to show it on ECW television later in the same style that Joey Styles recanted the moment. It was almost a squash match and it was totally unexpected in that ballroom. If memory serves me right, Steve Corino was in charge of the street teams. I was also given a stack of tickets to give away.

39:27. Francine clinging to Joey like a teddy bear while trying to interview Shane who's completely no selling it. That is brilliant.

06-09 was a great time to watch wrestling you had wrestling almost everyday. Raw, ecw, tna, and smack down.

Guys like Snuka, Santana and Muraco probably got those early title runs because they all lived in the Tri-State area at the time making them available names that were still fairly well-known.

I got an ECW purple logo tattoo and a south park Terry funk back in 1998 I'm 38 now & just don't have the heart to cover them theyre relics even if they look like they were scrawled by an epileptic convict eating a ghost pepper especially as I was both 14 & in the UK lmao ECW wasnt in our TV til 2000 used to get VHS tapes shipped since about 96' every month lol.

You guys are doing exceptional work!

1st of all, it was my MOTHER who got me into ECW back in the early 90s. Also, I was a the Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) Fight Club pay-per-view, and people were chanting "GEE SEE DUB" like MANIACS!

Cool video. I watched and enjoyed the whole thing.

I actually enjoyed Morrison's reign more than punk's. Punk winning after chasing was great but his time as champ was kind of bland, where as Morrison was all hated and yet somehow unbeatable. I do agree Christian was the best WWECW Champ though by far. As for the original lineage, nothing in wrestling at that time felt more like a bad ass boss fight than seeing taz walk down to the ring with that belt

RAVEN .. was something special man . even in wcw. they tried to make him as weird as possible but his coolness transcended past wrestling .( i know hes supposed to be the cult leader of losers. )

And let's not forget that two of Austin's biggest moves were ripped from Mikey Whipwreck: the stunner and the mud hole stomp.

I think Kane , Lashley, Matt Hardy, and RVD should be ahead of Big Show on this list. I remember Big Shows reign but I think those 4 are definitely ahead of his . Based on how they won the title and how they carried themselves.

I still say that Masato Tanaka, Rhyno, and Rob Van Dam should be ranked higher on this list. Plus for me I say that TAZ was the Greatest ECW World Heavyweight Champion.

If you can find that barbed wire match between Sabu v Terry Funk, it's a hard watch, but well worth it. Sabu's bicep gets ripped open then he gives himself stitches backstage to close it up.

He meant in the original ECW. RVD’s run was in the WWE version.

My uncle did the Shane Douglas' new house in Pittsburgh during his title run. He said Shane was cool to the people working on the house. I remember ECW was paid programming in our area so all the commercials were for ECW merchandise and PPVs...it was the best. Everyone was wearing the shirts that my highschool band the Sabu Genocidal shirt and Sandman Budweiser spoof😂😂

The original ECW chant was Never "E-C-Dub" its was always "E-C-W" I went to all the old arena shows since 1995, it just sounds like they said E-C-Dub over all those people at once. *Not to mention anyone after 2001 was not an ECW Champion, that WWECW was a garbage attempt at a reboot.

Yeah I noticed that too because it was until I got older than I watch true ECW and not work and I’m like I always thought they said E. C. Dub “ I wasn’t watching in the old days of ECW so all I had was the WWE version to go on, a pity”

No one will likely read this but that ladder match between Christian and Shelton, some kid screams "it looks like you got stung by a bee" and to this day still confuses me

I liked it as well. It was the first ECW title I ever saw honestly - granted, via a 2K game, but still - but I think it would probably have gotten more love had it not been the top title for WWECW.

The best part of the WWECW championship's existence was Chavo's Mariachi celebration and Punk's fake mustache.

I am fully convinced that what happened to RVD is something that he’ll always regret. I know he says that “Oh, let’s focus on the present and future.” But c’mon, you’re at the top of the company, your favorite brand is back and YOU are the leader of it. The company is backing you, the fans love you, and you are making stacks of cash with your buds in ECW. You are at the apex of your career and it’s taken from you over something that is honestly not even that bad, but still you lost it ALL. Instantly suspended after you lose the titles in such an embarrassing manner, next year your wife gets cancer and you have to leave with all that heavy stress. I can’t imagine it was a walk in the park by any means.

And wow Ric Flair was #1 in the WCW one and now Shane Douglas for ECW. Both led a top stable in each company (Flair with the 4 Horsemen and Douglas with the Triple Threat) and were the first recognized world champion for each company (remember Douglas is recognized as the first ECW world champion and Flair the first WCW world champion).

I know that Bam Bam was pushing 40 in 1997 and that Nitro would become John Morrisson after his title win, but COME ON! Bam Bam Bigelow totally trolled Shane Douglas as he came out to the ring to face him. Rick Rude knows how to play mind games.

RVD needs to be way higher, he brought hype and prestige back to the title and pairing it with the WWE championship in 2006 gave ECW legitimacy it would never have again.

Rob was meant to be ECW champion back in 2000 when he was a three year TV Champion, but a knee injury and Mike Awesome's departure derailed plans for a champion vs champion match

The crazy part about Jackson is that Christian beat Ezekiel Jackson in a dark match prior to the first Elimination Chamber PPV days after he was crown the final ECW Champion

And since he was the last champion before they closed shop... why didn't Rhyno challenge RVD when they started up again? Sandman embodies ECW. I'd put him at number 1.
