A reverse scale? I think that's what its called in eastern culture.

Fun fact: Outrage's Japanese name Gekirin can also be read as "Reverse Scale", a property of many Eastern Dragons who are normally calm, but has this one scale that is in reverse compared to the dragon's other scales, and if touched, the Dragon goes into a fit of rage. This term "Gekirin" has since become an idiom for "A trigger point for an otherwise calm and regal person"

I've got an explanation for Dual Chop. I always considered that move the signature move of the Haxorus line, which is a Pokemon that has two blades on either side of its face. While I'm sure the slew of fighting types that learn it chop in the traditional sense of a fighting move, Haxorus and Garchomp, the two Pokemon that learn it in its debut game of Black and White, literally have blades on their bodies and chop much like a kitchen knife would. This is also why Sceptile gets it, because he's got the whole Leaf Blade gimmick. Of course in Black and White 2 suddenly tons of non-bladed Pokemon get it.

fun fact: dragon rage was the only dragon type move in gen 1, but because it's a set damage move, it can't deal super effective damage. this meant that dragon's self weakness was pointless until gen 2.

I love that you have been addressing the concept of energy in this series, I believe that is a key mechanic of types and type match-ups in the Pokemon world and its the first time I see anyone address it as such. I believe that attacks, even the ones with a less than obvious connection to a specific type, still use the elemental energy to be performed, this would explain why "dual chop" even if its is just a physical action, does not affect the likes of fairies. It is all imbued and powered with this energy, even if its connection to the type itself is not incredibly obvious.

I always thought Dragon Breath paralyzed because the Dragon’s breath smelled bad.

I think the Japanese name for outrage (imperial rage) is more related to the general lore of dragons. It's said that every dragon has a scale that runs in the opposite direction compared to the rest of its scales, this scale is really special because it's said it can get the dragon so furious (if touched) it will destroy everything around it in an attack of blind rage (also a good explanation of why it confuses the user after a few turns)

Why Alolan Exeggutor is dragon is because the palm tree they are based are from the dracanea family, and well it sounds like dragon lol.

Not like regional dex, like not coded so you cant transfer certain past pokemon from older games and theres no way to every obtain them. Some are being overly hopeful and saying theyre certainly going to add them as dlc but if that were true they probably wouldve said that. It looks like gen 8 is going to be the first gen I pass on. Ive been playing since the beginning. I think im officially done with this series. Sun and moon seriously made me consider it and this is the last straw. If USUM are anything to go by, the pokedex will probably have at least 4/500 pokemon in it. I'm sure they'll include as much as they can to allow transfers. Most people won't even notice this.

Wasn't it obvious that they would do this sooner or later? We are close to 1000 different Pokemon for crying out loud! Yeah, am gonna miss those that don't make the cut, but I can understand were the developers are coming from. They simply want to make their work easier. Is pretty taxing having to code +1000 different creatures, we have to remember that they would have to code their animations, their moveset, their shinies. were they can be encountered and their encounter rate, etc. Is simply too much to program. Just see how exhausting it was to program Ultimate and that is an smaller game (in terms of what's there to program), is no doubt that this one would have been harsher on them. Besides, with +1000 Pokemon it has become even harder to place them in the field. I mean, think about it, how would you make at least the 70% catchable? It would be pretty hard, you would require at least 50 routes (or "Wild Areas") to even be able to fit them all!. Pokemon was just too ambitious for its own good!.

Outrage's Japanese name is word play on the reverse scale (gekirin) which is said to make the dragon go crazy when touched since it's a homophone to the Japanese word for imperial wrath

Almost all the moves have "dragon" in the name, lets make some dragon moves: Dragon armour (increase defense and Spe Defense, also superefective attacks against the user only will do normal damage the next turn) Dragon fire Dragon wing Dragon header Dragon punch Dragon bite.

mersunarytigre dark is evil type in japan ( or rather things people believe are evil rather more of a fear type as absol certainly ain’t evil but people feared it) the most magical dark type gets is zorua and zoroark and illusions are generally considered low level magic. Fairy on the other hand resurrection aka everyone’s favorite fairy dragon that would be considered high level magic. Also what’s arcane about chopping someone’s throat biting someone crunching on them feint attack if anything a large portion of the moves are fighting dirty

I'm going to miss whatever dragons get cut from Sword and Shield. I love them all, my 2nd favorite type.

New Dragon Type Moves - Dragon's Curse (Status): The user emanates a primeval aura to intimidate its target with a mysterious force, reducing its Attack and Speed Stats (one Stage each). Dragon Axe (Physical): The user smashes into its target like the blade of an axe. This Attack never Misses. Uprising (Physical): The user surges up out of its Lowered Stats to attack the target. The more the user's Stats are Lowered, the greater the Move's Power, with the Stat Drops not effecting Damage dealt. Draconic Terrain (Status): The user infuses the ground beneath everyone's feet with folkloric spirits of power for five Turns, powering up Dragon Type Moves and enabling them to hit Fairy Type targets. Pokémon on the ground cannot be Flinched. Dragon's Jaws (Physical): The user bites down on its target hard with jaws imbued with legend. The Damage will make the target wince and Flinch on the next Turn. Medieval Wind (Special): The user blasts a nostalgic wind reminiscent of medieval times. This may also raise all the user's Stats (10%). Medieval Blade (Physical): The user slashes at its target with a mighty blade infused with a mythic power. Critical Hits land more easily. Tongue Flick (Status): The user flicks its tongue to identify its target, enabling a Fairy Type target to be hit with Dragon Type attacks and also enabling an Evasive target to be hit. Benevolent Breath (Status): The user expels a healing, life-giving breath to restore its target's HP. It may also Heal it of any Status Conditions (30%). Dragon Dive (Physical): The user engulfs itself in dragonfire and charges the target at top speed. This Move always goes first. Legend Screech (Special): The user lets out a horrific roar like something out of old lore, awakening its target's primal fear. It makes the target Flinch, possibly for multiple turns (20% for two, 10% for three). (Activates Rattled and Soundproof) Dragon Fire (Special): The user breathes a hot wave of dragon fire. It may Burn the opponent (20%). Dragon Rampage (Physical): The user looses its rage, violently attacking everything around it. Dragon Hoard (Status): The user greedily snatches and hoards the Items held by all Battlers to boost its Defense Stat by one Stage for each Item taken. Battlers receive their Items back when the user Faints. Outburst (Physical): The user's anger peaks as it attacks the target. If the user was hit by a Critical Hit before this Move, the Move's Power Doubles. Dragon Wings (Physical): The user dives into its target with its wings outstretched and crackling with a mysterious force. The leftover energy may also Raise the user's Speed (one Stage). Blind Fury (Status): The user brims with fury, enduring an incoming Attack Move and then using it as an excuse to rampage. If the user is hit with a Damaging Move the turn it uses this Move, its Attack Stat will be Maximized, but it will become Confused. This Move will fail if the user is not damaged by an opponent's Attack.

Twister: "Inflicts damage on the target. It may also cause the target to *cringe* , making it incapable of action. Doubles damage on a flying or bouncing Pokémon." It's like when you see small kid who likes dragons a little too much :/

Also in Japanese, which is called "Tatsumaki" meaning Dragon Twister. So there is some dragon part in it. Eastern dragons are mainly snake like body so spinning around would make a tornado.

The Dragon Type is not only Arcane, it's also the Ferocious Type and the Carnivous Type, which explains Dual Chop (kinda, I guess?) and will also explain some Pokémon like the 6th Gen Fossil

Dragon Rage has some use in late game, if your opponent uses defence raising or attack lowering moves then you can guarantee 40 hp dmg instead of whatever low dmg you might do otherwise.

What if Dual Chop being a barely-Dragon-y move that's purely meant for non-Dragons to learn it for balancing reasons is exactly the in-universe behind said move? "It's a move that requires so little Arcane magic, many non-Dragons began to practice it as a means to counter any Dragons that may threaten them" or something like that? Maybe not likely, but a fun theory.

I was expecting Shadiversity in the last dragon video I expect him in this.

- Actually gives Dialga his own video on Roar of Time. Thank you based sir. This is by far the most interesting move in the whole game in my opinion especially when looking at other games like mystery dungeon and in general what its implications are.

I wouldnt say its "magic" it is so vague. But more of a Bloodline power,like in many stories having the blood of a dragon brings power.

While i don’t feel like dual chop is particularly draconic, martial arts techniques do sometimes have the word dragon in the name, and while there isn’t a lot of draconic magic put into the attack, it’s clearly there. And the move being described as two brutal strikes. Dragons are brutal, both in pokemon and pop culture. Hell, hydreigon is literally called the brutal pokemon.

There are dragon trees, in canary mythology dragons can turn in these kind of trees.
