If i remember correctly, in jp 1 and 2 the scientific consesus was that dinos looked like reptiles. In jp3 you already start to see quills on the velociraptors and in JW they explain the genetic filler thing.

the films were released around the ‘dinosaur revolution’ when scientific interest in them started to rise again, this meant there was lots of new and likely, but not confirmed, facts about them, like feathers so the lack of feathers is quite smart as it would have made it even more inaccurate today if they weren’t feathered

And probably also not true to real life. Hippos, elephants, moose, and rhinos are all large herbivores...and are all 3 times more likely to turn you into a statistic than your average predator during a close encounter. I cant imagine walking up to a wild sauropod being a very smart idea

I hope you can still reconnect with your passion in some way, even if not as a paleontologist. Volunteering might be a great. Museums, reptile sanctuaries, etc. There are even people with KZread channels where they play with dino toys and have huge followings! So there is always a way if we think outside the box. I know it's hard to make time for those things and everyone's situation is different. My son has been in love with dinosaurs since 3 yrs old. I always think about how most of us don't get to follow our early dream careers. I hope that even if my son grows up and does other things for a living, he can find fulfilling ways to stay connected to what inspires him. Here's to your love of dinos!

When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was be a paleontologist. I was absolutely obsessed with all things dinosaurs… This man is living my childhood dream… Maybe even my dream now that I think about it.

U can tell how much this guy loves his job his passion shines through when he's explaining (very well mind you) the Dino info you can tell also he has his dream job

can we just talk about how great this guy is? he’s so respectful, probably knowing that we grew up with this. the joy he has on his face when he talks about dinosaurs is so sweet. although he’s technically just talking, everything he says is so interesting that I didn’t check the time once. I hadn’t even noticed almost 15 minutes went by. hats off to him!

Birds (aves), turtles (testundines), snakes and lizards (lepidosauria), and crocodiles, caimen and alligators (crocodilia) are all reptiles belonging to the class reptilia.

The Pterosaurs evolved to have flight with thin bat like wings. The development of feathers in the theropod dinosaurs happened slowly and is believed to initially to have been for warmth/protection. Flight is believed to have developed almost as a by-product of having feathers in the small, tree climbing therapods, that took first to gliding. I guess the Pterosaurs didn't have the morphology to develop feathers so maybe the avian dinosaurs began to out compete them.

@@joshtatko4806 Birds are indeed dinosaurs; the only living descendant of theropod dinosaurs. Hence the name 'non-avian dinosaurs' to describe all other varieties. Crocodiles and alligators are actually more closely related to birds than they are to other reptiles.

I found the fact about how the ankylosaurus doesn't always have a tail club very interesting.

The fact that his excitement and even though I'm sure he does have cue cards the info he is sharing seems freely given instead of being scripted. I can appreciate that 1000%

Fun fact: humans today are closer in time to T-Rex than T-Rex was to Stegosaurus. Let that sink in for a second.

Actually, that's not true. If you're referring to the time that stegosaurus first appeared to the time that Tyrannosaurus first appeared, then yes, you're right, but the last stegosauruses? Stegosauri? Whatever, died off about 100 million years ago meaning that they lived closer to each other than we do to T-rex.

He was definitely that kid with the Jurrasic Park lunch box, full of plastic dinosaurs correcting everyone's pronunciations and facts about dinosaurs. lol I love seeing those passionate nerds grow up and have success in the field they love! It's inspiring to see people can love their job, and find success and happiness in the same place.

T-Rex is the most popular Dinosaur of all time. It was ferocious, it was unstoppable, it was American. (literally lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous)

This guy is a perfect example of what happens when you do what you want with your life and be happy. Dont let your parents force your career and do what you want with your life.

@@_Only_Zuul dinosaurs. Especially ones such as Raptors, tyrannosaurs and other theropods were closely related to birds. Some were more related to lizards and other reptiles, but most were birds.

I wonder why they didn’t evolve any more though like humans did to be able to think and create. They were on Earth for over 165 million years and definitely evolved, but what if the asteroid didn’t hit Earth? Would they have grown like us or would they have stayed the same?

They wouldn't. If they could, they would do that since they were on earth for so long. They would rather better adapt to their habitats than create a civilization. They didn't need our intelligence, since they were doing well without it. We needed it because we were easy preys with less developped senses, no claws etc. Dinosaurs dominated their world and that was enough for them.

I feel like he went way more in depth into each of the dinosaurs, and the editors just cut most of it out :( I wish they'd kept it more of it in, this is too short

But they did that as a cover-up to justify the slander on Donald Gennaro. The book: - had a separate, non-lawyer character for the cowardice (Gennaro once had a much better personality; this enraged the filmmakers, who punished him severely) - had Cearadactylus (wasn't even replaced with Pteranodon, just cut entirely) - called these things Deinonychus (the more accurate name) Jurassic World: - WHY DIDN'T THEY START SAFER!?

Why tho? There are already dromeosaurs that are the same size of the Jurassic park ones if not even bigger, it would be pointless to modify a much much smaller animal in order to make it bigger when it’s cousins were already that size or larger

I would love to hear him go into more detail on a few dinosaurs rather than covering every single one briefly.

Omg same haha it freaked me out. And I always closed my eyes when Samuel L Jackson's character gets his arm ripped off, I remember my dad warned me before it happened when I saw it the first time and it took me years to finally watch the scene haha
