    Great question. I definitely switch back and forth between the two methods of just taking climbing sticks and taking my one stick. The more I use the one stick climbing method, the more I feel like it's a great swiss army knife for climbing. Even on trees with a ton of branches, as long as I have a linemans belt, I'm good to go to where I can maneuver around them. So, I guess the answer to your question is evolving.. I used to take the one stick only when I knew what tree I was going to, but now I feel more comfortable taking it everywhere I go. Only exception is when I have a camera guy coming with me who needs the sticks behind me.

    Can't get the Tethrd1 sticks. Impossible to find, never in stock. I think they stopped making them temporarily because that "chemical bond" otherwise known as glue, was failing and dudes were getting hurt. Have seen picks of steps separating from the post online... They added that roll pin to address this, but no roll pin is considered weight bearing or load rated... meaning it's still an unsafe stick. Ti and aluminum, being different materials, will expand and contract at different rates in temp changes.... that will stress that "chemical bond" and cause it to fail. Their step to stick attachment method needs to be redesigned..

    I use the Hawk Helium 20” sticks it has been a great stick but on the lady lip you might need to cut it just a little. If you cut it to much it will not suction. I cut them to much and had to take little bungee chords around them. Overall a great starter stick.

    3 questions about the Tethrd sticks. 1) what size stealth strip did you use to wrap them ? 2) I notice you have orange stacking pegs and the released ones come black, is that a prototype? Or a replacement? 3) Being that you’re associated with the company maybe you can find out for certain : when the stacking pegs break (because they for sure are going to knowing my self) will Tethrd offer replacement stacking pegs? I’ve seen reviews where they were in fact broken during use and shipping. Having just ordered them the second they dropped publicly it is a big concern because it is a big selling point. I was duped by XOP with their stick locking and when the aluminum started sheering and they lost the ability to stack I wanted to throw my self out of the tree lol now they are annoyingly bulky sticks that only 2/4 have the ability to lock together and when I’m walking in the woods and they come loose hanging off my predator pack I’m ready to loose my $hit. Because I’m forced to stop walking, take off the pack, and re-tighten the predator pack straps. It cost time and probably some success in the form of stealthiness when they clank on my back. Having spent the money in the one stick it would be a shame to have this happen all over again.

  • @HuntUrban

    @HuntUrban

    Thanks for watching! I wanted to make sure to address all your points, so see answers below: 1.) I used the "standard" stealth strip roll. Works great. 2.) I was playing around with my 3D printer and testing some ideas when I made the pegs in this video. 3.) I don't think the stacking pegs will break easily - I have a seriously high number of climbs, stacks, smacks, etc on the sticks and didn't ever have any issue with them breaking. However, I know that Tethrd will, 100%, make a point to exceed customer service and stand behind their product. I'm positive if you have an issue, they'll stop at nothing to make it right. I don't think you have any concern with the ONE sticks like you had with the XOP's... I had a buddy have the same issue with the XOP's and I know how annoying it was. He also had his top step break on him when he was standing on it... talk about scary!

    I don't think there's any issue with the stand-off spacing. For me, when I climb, I like to have my feet out at a 45* angle - with these sticks the standoff and step make a giant platform, and a great "landing area" so to speak for my foot
