Absolute Tr4sh I find it so annoying that Kirby has one of the lowest air speeds when the other pink puff ball has one of the best. I hope it gets some significant buffs at some point (like lucario smash 4 to ultimate) in air speed

Dk: cargo throw that potentially does constant 60% on every character

caveat: The one thing I did not test is aerials that shift the character's hurtbox significantly on early frames (think cloud uair in smash 4). There is a chance that certain combos might be broken by a very specific aerial, not because it would hit, but because it would cause the followup to miss. Generally though since double jump comes out on the same frame as an aerial's first frame, the jump is going to shift their hurtbox much more than anything else.

If they gave him even a slight buff in air speed Kirby would be able to compete. He's just like Sm4sh Kirby and can potentially be a high mid tier he just needs that air speed.

@@fum8168 not true if you know how to use him right. I'm a 13 year old who goes to the Brooklyn library. There is a switch to play against others in smash bros. The best player who goes there is a 14 year old who uses heavyweights. I have beat him a couple of times using kirby by putting his 0 to 70 combos to use getting easy meteor smashes. It's funny when you see someone picking a bad character until you actually lose..

Spectacular work! And these are just potential conversions starting off a grab at 0. I am positive there’s much more to be discovered when looking at the rest of Kirby’s kit as potential combo starts (even B-Air of all things can start a combo). We have a long way to go with optimizing Kirby’s advantage state and this video is a great step forward. Thanks for the hard work!

What's the best/optimal playstyle for Kirby, at least if you like to be aggressive? A powerful pressure game? Patient bait and punish? Defensive play? Racking up damage and comboing and setting up for kills? I wanna know, I'm getting better everyday and I see you EVERYWHERE. You're so optimistic about Kirby and that's good, I am too. You're being awfully impressed with combos that are around the same level if not slightly worse than what Smash 4 Kirby could do. Only in this game, Kirby has to worry about platforms killing his combos and the majority of everyone being better than they were in the last game. He was considered low tier in the last game and besides Dash attack, he didn't get anything significant to his kit. He's pretty low tier looking when you look at the whole cast instead of just a combo video.

Whenever I grab someone as Kirby, I just foward throw, fair, then pray.

I'm glad these still work in this game, since even these work, I have high hopes that his other obscure combos from Smash 4 carried over as well, besides the footstool combos of course Rip footstools tho :(, I'll never get over it But I greatly appreciate this, hopefully more Kirbys will finally be using more optimal followups now, and give him the accurate representation he deserves. Thomas Fish lol I’m replying to this when you asked this question like months ago Anyway there’s a big discord called Smashcords which is basically a hub for people who want to get better. They made individual discords designated to every character so that people who main those characters can work together to improve them. The Kirby discord is the discord they made that was designated for Kirby mains to work together in.

Also Myolnir already warned you about this on Twitter but D-Air’s hit advantage on Incineroar is actually laughable (3 frames. RIP). Trying to Up Tilt could just give him a Revenge. I am positive we can work around this though. He’s still combo food lol.

Literally just inhale incineroar, copy, and then drill in neutral b. True combo every time. That’s how you handle the incineroar matchup. However, if you did want to do a powerful f-throw combo, I don’t think most opponents would be ready to react in game 1 to that combo with a revenge, so it’s fine for a little bit.

the lucina one was so good, lucina is used alot in high level play so i was pleased with that

It's not a double parry, parry's just have a lasting effect so they can take more than one move at the same time

Shield flickering is very good in this game, window for a parry is 5 frames and if you tap your shield there will only be a very small gap where you can't parry or shield an attack. Since you can just Nair oos for free anyway this is a good technique only beaten by grabbing Edit: and jabbing, and extended multihit moves in some cases

If you have a multihit move, hitting the first parry will sometimes auto parry the rest of the muktihits. Not sure what the specific requirements are to causes this interaction

I just watched a pink marshmallow beat the snot out of half of my childhood for eight minutes instead of sleeping. I don't even own smash. Send help.

This is also a good thing to learn how to parry forward smashes and what number of parries there are.

I'll learn Wolf and Kirby a bit next week. Thanks for the combos sir.

i wish kirby didnt have to have so much game knowledge to even have reliable combos for every character. having to learn every combo for every matchup would be really difficult to even memorize

Trust me, it’s not as hard as it seems. You need to know Kirby’s fundamentals, and the opponents weight, size, fall speed, and burst escape options. Ik it sounds complicated but it’s something that comes off naturally, as long as you practice the combos. Pichu and Peach are arguably the best 2 in the game and their combos differ between every character

I find Grab to Forward Throw to Down Air to Grab (3x) and ending with Forward Air or Up Special works better and deals around 70%. Doesn’t work on everybody, like Wolf.

If you land on the platforms on battlefield, I've been able to hup-cancel down tilt, it's not much, and the percentage is a lot tighter, but it is an extra hit i guess

I hope that forward throw landing on platforms issue will be fixed.. ;-;

Goodness. I've been trying to parry those f-Smash multihits with Cloud and Bowser Jr. on training mode and there was no way for me to get them all, not even at 1/4. I end up shielding too much or simply get hit! I'm amazed it's actually possible against Corrin's charging of the f-Smash. So, congrats, you are a beast. Or a Kirby, for that matter. Any tips on parrying these moves?

On multihits you can generally just mash because of the freeze frames. Cloud fsmash wouldn't work for mashing due to the timing, but you'd just have to press shield as soon as the second and third attacks come out. You have to press shield 4-8 frames before the attack will connect to get a successful parry

Try releasing the shield button just a little bit earlier. And I mean a very little bit earlier

At 5:20 are there more horizontal variations vs Mac? Not like gimping Little Mac after a throw takes a huge amount of effort but anything that ends with a Bair would totally ruin a Mac.

Marwan The Kirby Warrior lol but still after this one combo it’s super hard to get any kill confirms as you can no longer land any of these combos bc of high %. Biggest problem is lack of kill confirms. Well unless you trip ur opponent then they get sent to the shadow realm

I want to see a Kirby player completely dominate tournaments.

God that description is thorough. Very entertaining & useful for Kirby mains, one of which I am not. Still fun to watch tho. Question: Was it actually "literally" impossible to parry all 7 of that Mii's hits? Or were u exaggerating? Couldn't tell.

Hey Caprain L, I was wondering what's your opinion on characters who you can regrab forward thow dair on. Is it worth it to try to down tilt then forward tilt? You may get a trip which can lead to more damage or another grab. Also, showing a Shulk that uses his shield monando on 0 percent would be pretty helpful also.

That combo on K rool was nuts. 70+ Damage jesus christ.

5:20 The only combo I've seen that doesn't end in a BAIR

After fthrow > dair couldn't you do Dtilt > utilt after instead of just utilt on some of those characters?

maybe on a couple, but after the dair they can influence their position with SDI quite a bit. I know for dtilt utilt you have to be quite close, so at the cost of ~6 damage or so it's more worth it for the utilt -> bair to be consistent I think

Having trouble getting that up tilt after the down air to combo.

I'm having trouble getting fthrow to combo into nair. Kirby won't drift right after the throw until too late, wondering if i just suck or if i'm missing something?
