Something worth also mentioning is all the Dreamworks Animated shows that were removed from Netflix that were made as a deal to be “Netflix Originals”. Some, like the Puss in Boots show, found their way to Peacock, where hopefully they’ll stay for a while, but others, like the banger Mr. Peabody and Sherman show and the underrated All Hail King Julien show are still stuck in an “only available on digital marketplaces” limbo. Hate to see it 😭

What I despise is what they did to Infinity Train. A show so truly outstanding and emotional, with important psychological themes and character development. They cancelled it with no logical reason at all, it had a lot of fans and ran well, and then erased every trace of it. Sadly, the tone of the show is what caused it to be cancelled. It made the list of top 5 viewed shows on all of HBO but then they scrapped it because they don't believe young adult animation is a real genre. Shows like Korra, Steven Universe and She Ra have already proven that there IS an audience. I guess we just don't buy enough merch.

Problem is, most new shows don't get physical releases anymore unless they're smash hits- and even then that's not a guarantee anymore.

Netflix has recently removed seasons 3-7 of total drama island, Which Pissed me off because total drama is one of my favorite shows, and Netflix was the only place with all the seasons, and now they are all gone except for seasons 1 & 2

Well the point was Paramount thought Netflix was the only streaming service but then they figured out how to do it themselves. With what you pay in streaming services and remembering passwords, the convenience of accessing shows with a remote does not outweigh how much less you pay if you stick with cable and DVDs. Plus if you buy a DVD you own it. Nobody can take it from you (unless they’re a burglar).

There really should be a Law that if a piece of media is tax written off, it should be released to the public domain.

Crazy what can change in a year. I remember moving into my first apartment and binging infinity train along with having some Ben 10 nostalgia. Really glad I was able to watch that show all the way through along with close enough.

It freaking sucks that HBO Max had to suffer the worst out of all streaming services. I remember when it used to be the quote-unquote greatest streaming service of all time when it came to animation. But everything changed when the Discovery nation attacked. The removals that hurt ME the most out of all of them were KND and China IL. For KND they were RADIO SILENT, and I was really getting into China IL by the time it's culling was announced. I have a feeling once they drop Superjail, that's when I'm ending my subscription.

The backlash over Prodigy was insane. I remember in the Star Trek Shitposting group on FB, and other Trek circles, a petition got a lot of traction. Even in announcements from the crew, the fanbase was given credit for keeping the momentum going. It was honestly the first time I felt like I actually was part of a major fanbase fighting for (and winning) something they loved

OK.KO, Mao Mao, and Victor and Valentino being removed really hurt me because when CN was spamming TTG, those shows were the ones I would watch and would get into. It really sucks how these shows get treated, especially the good ones

Western animation needs a break. They’re like a punching bag at this point.

@@cjgamer6356 Toxic TMNT fans are why the show took so long to gain popularity, but at the end of the day, Nickelodeon viewed the Rise fanbase as too little, too late. The show was thrown onto a network that nobody watches, got cut from 4+ planned seasons to less than 2 full seasons, and was given airing schedules so bad that new episodes struggled to hit 100,000 views on release. The toyline was discontinued after a year and these days it's near impossible to find Rise merch in stores; it's all Mutant Mayhem now. By all measures, Nickelodeon views the show as a failure, and it doesn't matter to them that Rise was put in a no-win situation and would probably be way more successful if it was able to continue right now.

Fun Fact: Disney+ actually added The Spectacular Spider-Man last year. A show they have the rights to considering their relationship with Marvel. And it got removed on the same day that Max removed most of its Cartoon Network catalog.

Kinda sad considering this is just companies creating their own lost media. Piracy is pretty much the only hope for these shows.

I really liked this show and the worst part is during its original run it ended on a cliffhanger

It’s sad though that these were originally pitched to ensure users had access to core content. I’m especially saddened by how much WB/Cartoon Network was scrubbed or moved to other platforms.

Honestly, with how records and cassettes are making a comeback, and how Hollywood thinks going to streaming is “cheaper” than physical media; I feel like with how bad they’re services are, physical media might make a BIG and probably permanent comeback

Same. It especially motivates you to pirate when you know that CEOs and Higher ups are getting richer by not giving the people there royalties and compensating people properly for their work.

Discovery doesn't like animation. I solely believe that The Discovery Channel part of Warner Brothers Discovery thinks that animation is just for kids and therefore disposable. When physical media and "untraditional archiving practices" does a better job of preservating these animated cartoons than their owners.

They mostly like reality shows. The problem is, WB isn't really about reality shows. WB makes movies, animation, comic books...But I can't remember a reality show on any WB network, other than CN Real unpleasantness. (Proof Teen Titans GO! isn't the worst idea CN ever had.)

I can't believe how many cartoons have been deleted from streaming services. I remember back when all of Cartoon Network's library of cartoon series were on Max and I was shocked to see that some of my favorite Cartoon Network shows from my childhood had been removed from Max when I renewed my subscription a couple months back. It's sad to see animation being treated this way by streaming services with how popular some series were old or new.

Seriously there needs to be a safe library for shows and series that are no longer publicly accessible via streaming or tv. Or a mass resurgence in Dvd rental places. That much work in any media shouldn’t be thrown away just like that.

I sadly doubt it, Blockbuster while fine for it’s time had way too many inconveniences (such as always being out of new releases, scratched DVDs and the late fees etc). And Netflix ended their DVD service last September

The fact this shit happens feels like it's for no reason. From what I've seen they take away budget or attention from good/decent things they have to put it into more (bad) things because of well, money. I REALLY just want all four seasons of Infinity Train to be on DVD SO BAD!! I loved it since I first saw the original CN short. It was so different and deep and magical to me. I even wrote a college thesis about the 3rd season. I want to show my boyfriend the show so so bad but I can’t find the show anywhere and I personally just want to rewatch it and have it forever😩

It’s pony being gone is the saddest 1 for me because now half of the show is now lost media

This kinda bullshit happened well before the streaming wars even started, just try to find the 1994 American Invasion animated miniseries by Dreamworks. All you'll find is half ass recordings from an unknown network. Universal Studios refuses to release American Invasion on DVD or Blu-Ray or any kinda streaming network like there own Peacock.

And give those purged CN shows credit, they were able to stay available on digital stores for a good while after they got wiped off of HBO Max. Sadly, most of them have been delisted from there back in October, but hey, that was still like over a good year in between. That makes me wonder what the difference was between those and when it happened to Final Space, which I swear was purged and delisted from all the stores in that same week or two!

And most people wonder why I hang onto physical media.

We don't want them to go away!!!

Honestly it’s ain’t just the deleting and purging that’s the only thing to worry but the fact while great shows are getting the the short end of the stick or nothing at all, we got shows like Velma getting more seasons despite its low ratings

Wouldn’t it be easier to put these shows on KZread and run ads on them to generate ad revenue?

Cartoon preservation is something that needs to be done i hope that people understand that preservation is important.

This is why the Library of Congress really should create a new preservation program similar to the National Film Registry and the National Recording Registry dedicated to preserving pieces of TV history. It’s not just cartoons should be preserved, but also a lot of TV shows, especially the older ones from the 50s, 60s and 70s considering a lot of episodes from beloved shows from those decades can be considered lost. I mean, it only took till 2 years ago for the infamous Sesame Street episode featuring Margaret Hamilton reprising her role as the Wicked Witch of the West to finally be publicly uploaded online!

this is one of the reasons physical media grows more important by the day. It looks like warner is soon to be junk like paramount.

I am disappointed they got rid of Season 2 of Penguins of Madagascar. It hurts my childhood.

If anyone remembers Glitch Techs, aka a show that was SUPPOSED to be on Nickelodeon but was moved to Netflix due to budget expenses and layoffs, I wouldn’t be surprise if that gets cancelled cause it’s still on a cliffhanger😤.

They also removed T.U.F.F puppy on paramount plus too.

Wait! Blue's Clues and You getting removed doesn't make any sense! It was renewed for a 5th season back in 2022 but only aired up to season 4!

The pessimist in me suspects it’s only a matter of time before a streaming service purges something so big that the whole world will uprise (like Steven Universe, SpongeBob, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, or The Owl House) and unfortunately I feel like the uprising of such a purge will be the only thing that gets the companies to realized they messed up big time.

Streaming is temporary, physical media is FOREVER.

THIS IS WHY INDIE ANIMATION IS THE BEST OPTION!!! Simply because they take a chance, and wait at least to get through a second season before even thinking about canceling it. And they don’t just cancel the show if it’s not as popular cause they know it has a decent enough audience for their brand to stay a float and they have some other shows that have hit it big to justify it staying. And even if it got canceled, they KEEP IT UP. If the takedowns keep happening with big companies, then eventually everyone will just move to indie animation and indie studios in general for TV and then the entertainment industry as a whole will have to rethink it’s approach. God I hate streaming sometimes.

That's why everyone SHOULD move to Indie Animation, but not necessarily WHY they will move. Starting Indie Animation takes a lot of work, time, and money, that's why we still have these huge corporations calling the shots no matter how many shows die in the crossfire

Got so excited when you said Pantheon was similar to Serial Experiments Lain but then I remembered the title of the video and got sad.

The Very first show removed from Paramount+ was both versions of Danger Mouse but those weren't originals. Plus, The 80's Series is on Netflix and the 2016 Series is on some kids app (also Netflix but it's missing sesson 3 on there) Also, everytime Paramount purges a show, they play or make more ads that say Paramount is the home of Nickelodeon

@@misterslick2693And they just stopped their DVD mail service in September as well :( But they aren’t alone though, Best Buy discontinued selling CDs in 2018 and will phase out their DVDs and Blu Rays. Bottom line is if a product isn’t making money anymore it goes the way of the dinosaurs

I miss the days when Netflix, Hulu and Amazon were the only streaming services.

It’s honestly so wild how Final Space only ever gets a passing mention in these types of videos. It was one of the first big victims of the media purge and nobody seemed to give a shit outside of fans. Like you straight can’t legally buy or watch it anymore on anything regardless of country and most people didn’t give it a fair chance when it was actively airing new episodes.

that's kind of weird that Infinity Train is labeled TV-MA i mean, yeah it does do dark stuff. But it's kids show level dark like on the level that you might see in a kids movie from the 1980s. It's not Game of Thrones Level or anything. I think they need to re-evaluate that rating and fix that on KZread.

To me, TV-MA is Game of Thrones or South Park. Infinity Train, first, is not even an amoral universe. You accumulate enough good karma (as indicated by your number going down), you can leave. You accumulate enough bad karma, a giant palmetto bug (Think cockroaches that can fly.) eats you.

People are too soft these days. Everything is either rainbows and unicorns or it’s only for adults. Kids can be exposed to dark or mature themes as long as there isn’t excessive gore, graphic sex, or a bunch of vulgarity.

Netflix removed "The Adventures of Puss in Boots" which was an original on their platform. I don't know if it got moved to Peacock or something but it's not on Netflix as of the end of December 2023.

That's because Warner Bros. (even before Zaslav) Sold Crunchyroll to Sony who merged it with Funimation. But Disney added a new ip infinity stone, syndication of Anime on Hulu / Disney+. Just about every major Crunchyroll Shonen Anime is on there (except for the most recent season for some, but that could just be a exclusively window thing.) not to mention exclusives like Bleach: 1000 Year Blood War and Akira Toriyama's Sand Land.

Not a day goes by where I don't miss Mao Mao. It practically ended on a cliffhanger too. When it moved to Max, season 1 had already ended so it had nothing new and I had no reason to sign up for it. They couldnt even be bothered to test if a fresh season 2 would bring in views.

Same. I was so excited for MaoMao season 2, but then they just cancelled it without even telling :( And as far as I know season 2 is finished, they just never released it. I really hope it leaks someday xD

It's just sad how Warner and Nick are getting their shows on streaming services screwed just because is either due to taxes or because it's not that popular, by this point i wouldn't be surprised if content from both services end up on other streaming platforms like Netflix or Disney Plus as they at least don't get deleted by an excuse like that.

I wish there was more infinity train. It could have been so good

It's not animated, but Doctor Who jumping on a sinking ship has me scared that a 60 year old on going show will be cancelled
