Every Camper Should Try THIS! Hammock Camping Spreader Bars!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hammock camping can be AMAZING!
I used to jump into one of those classic weaved hammocks and snooze for hours. But wake up a bit sore and crammed.
There are some pretty awesome setups out there, keep an eye out for a Bridge Hammock if your a side sleeper, and make sure it has a mosquito net, and slot to slide in a sleeping pad.
Also test to see how stable they are!!!
I've had this one for years, and it's made by @warbonnetoutdoors and called a RidgeRunner.
Disclaimer: I made this on my own without any affiliation with them. I just love quality gear!

    I've been looking into sari hammocks, myself. They're really long, though some extra cordage to tie them is probably a good idea, and instead of taking up room in your pack, you wear it as a garment. Because that's what it is, a garment that has this extra use.

    @zacherybutter7349 Therein lies my problem.... I'm not sure of what other things I can search under, so I can't find much either, except for "don't have babies nap in them because of health risks". I'm mostly going off of a sari's dimensions, and fabric and cordage with good weight allowances and water proofness. They won't end up being as pretty as saris CAN be, but in the west, the trend seems to be eschewing form, and going only for function anyway. And the nice thing is? From what I've seen, Indian culture has been very open to sharing food and fashion with anyone who is interested. So you can ignore anyone who isn't from India if they complain about cultural appropriation. Edit: When I get one, I'll be buying fabric and making it myself. There are some places that will cut the fabric for you, so that will remove some worry about keeping your cuts straight.

    I did enough camping spreading sleeping cots out in the field during my tours in the military. On one occasion I found a Scorpion inside my sleeping bag. It is no joke when in the military you are told to shake your boots vigorously because of unknown hitchhikers. In Iraq I constantly shook my boots and sleeping bag, and swept my living space because of Camel Spiders, which are actually non-poisonous, but aggressive tailless Scorpions.

  • @michaelhenderson6786

    @michaelhenderson6786

    I’ve always heard Camel Spiders (despite their cosmically horrifying appearance) are only aggressive when provoked, and even then it takes a lot of provoking. Though I would hazard a guess that being stepped on in a shoe, or rolled onto from inside a sleeping bag, might sufficiently piss one off enough. But I’ve never seen or encountered one in person, so I wouldn’t know.

    Then you're doing it all wrong...learn what you should carry, and what you shouldn't, dress in layers, use the correct "R" value sleeping mat, and a down filled sleeping bag rated for the area you live in or are camping in...it's not just throwing up a tent or hammock with sleeping bag, there's so much more to camping, and doing it as comfortable as possible.

Sometimes ai end up going past my side and start sleeping 1/4 of the way towards my stomache. The only way gammocks are really uncomfortable are for sleeping directly on your back because it squeezes your shoulders.

    My best friend and I made hammocks out of heavy canvas with a foam pad layered inside back in the early 70's. Add a mosquito net and you've got comfy camping.

  • @dereinzigwahreRichi
    @dereinzigwahreRichi8 ай бұрын

    Truth is: if it's not summer AND not windy you'll want that tarp over and around you. You'll need some isolation under you, be it a mattress or an underquilt, but you can get away with a light closed cell foam pad that would be uncomfy on the ground, point given. You'll also want some blanket over you. It won't usually be much lighter to carrya hammock setup than a tent, you'll need all the other stuff you take for camping as well. But you'll need to find two trees in the right distance in a nice spot. This can be a challenge, too, been there and done that. You don't need flat ground but you also don't want a steep incline. Sliding down a hill first thing when you get up isn't ideal. And you'll need to put your backpack or other stuff somewhere, think about that, too. On the bare ground is no good place in heavy rain. Hammock camping might require more planning than you initially think, just keep that in mind.

    It depends where you backpack. Above tree line, big trees far apart, plains or desert. I always have a harder time finding a hammock spot. They shine when you’re on miles of steep mountains.

    I don't really see a hammock working in Southern Arizona there are some trees but you don't want to touch them because they're covered in thorns or scorpions the Thorns would be a Palo Verde and the Scorpions are in Mesquite
