I just got the funniest fucking image in my head. The Merchant dangles with one hand on the ledge with the other holding a cart of the infamous vegetable product. A super buff Aang with the arrow tattoo over his eye kicks both the Merchant and his cart of cabbages into lava with his last words be "MY CABBEG- right as the cart lands on him and they both melt into the hot river.

i mean, on one hand sure, Kratos was a complete a-hole On the other, it's hinted in the first game that he had kidnapped or enslaved two girls, and while his crewmember were fighting he turned tail and ran...Kratos was an asshole yes, but as a spartan he despised cowards deeply, so whatever remote feeling of piety Kratos might have had for the Captain disappeared by then. And with young Kratos, if you're not his ally, you're of no use to him

Well the devs said the Boat Captain is actually innocent. He was meant to be the unlucky dude as the franchise joke character. If he is guilty, they won't go such extra miles to make reference to him.

​@@theprestige5472While yes they were locked up, I don't think he was a human trafficker because you'd think the best way to protect the women from an attacking hydra is to keep them in the room where the serpent can't get to them. Unfortunately the undead soldiers were able to just come out from the floor, which supposedly came after the hydra's initial appearance

The boat captain is a great example of how little kratos carried for other. Back In his greek Olympus days.

This is a really good video, but you actually missed one! In God of War III, while Kratos is fighting in his mind and he drops the lantern into the water and dives in, he hears voices from his past, there is a chance you can hear the boat captain

Apparently the gods sent Kratos to save Aphrodites daughters on the ship the Hydra attacked. They were the 2 girls on the bed after you defeat the Hydra and they were kidnapped by this dude

Out of all of the deaths, the boat captain affects him the most (Aside from his first wife and daughter). Interesting especially since the captain was a passing stranger.
