Her life was extremely sad. All that she wanted was to actually have someone love her. She also really wanted to be a mother. Between drama from the men in her life and her miscarriages, it's no wonder why she died the way that she did. I can only hope that she's finally at peace.
Those daddy's eventually brought her destruction and death :-( Heartbreaking. RIP Marilyn, never forgotten and sorely missed.

If you actually listen to the song, she's saying a woman needs a man to protect her. She even says in the beginning a man doesn't need to be a millionaire. It's not about a rich dude at all. Back in this time woman would refer to men that could take care of business as "Daddy"... Look at Elvis Priestley music. He referred to woman as "Mama".

@@iconslegends5230 All of those people you mentioned are a carefully curated persona. Especially in Marilyn’s case. Marilyn Monroe was a caricature Norma Jean Mortensen created for movies. It’s not the way she really was in her personal life. Off duty Norma Jean would walk around without makeup or theatrics and get a kick out of the way no one even recognized her or cared to. She was just like anybody else. Anyone can act like they’re larger than life but no one can do it forever. In the end we’re all ordinary people.
