Watching this video brought tears back to my eyes just just like watching every Albert at bat did this year. This was one of the most emotional and best final seasons by any superstar ever in my opinion. Partially because he had looked like a shell of his former self and then suddenly for about 2- 2.5 months when he really got hot suddenly I was a little kid again glued to the screen every time Albert came up to hit. My only regret is I couldn't make it to a game his final season.

@@brandontyler1754no doubt man. I was at his last home game when he homered. It was my first time. The ceremony before the game had me crying like a baby. My dad passed away a few days before they resigned him. We were hoping he’d sign back after they adopted the dh. It was the most emotional season I’ve ever experienced. The video definitely brought tears to my eyes thinking about how happy my dad would have been to watch what he did.

Can you image your last homerun before you retire, you surpass babe Ruth for most career RBIs - what a story for the ages. Incredible career for Albert.. so many accomplishments for one man. HUGE RESPECT

As a brewers fan Albert is a goat

I’m 25 years old, growing up a Cardinals fan with him on the roster was so special. My whole house would stop what they were doing to watch him when he’d step up to the plate. It meant EVERYTHING to me to see him come back and do what he did this year, #5 will always hold a special place in my heart. LONG LIVE KING ALBERT AND LONG LIVE SAINT LOUIS

I feel fortunate to be 38 and having been able to follow him closely during my teens, 20's and 30's. I closely followed 95 percent of his Cardinal AB's.

As a little Kid growing up and being like 4 years old going to a game in 08 this run meant so much to me. I literally have a baby jersey of Pujols. My favorite athlete of All time bar none. I was heart broken as a 7 year old when he left and when he came back the first thing I did is I drove to my grandpas house who was a lifer and told him because he was everyone’s favorite. I really thought we were gonna win it all last year with that kind of magic and atmosphere that team had. I went on Bobblehead night to my first game since like 2016 just to see Albert play one final time. Love you Albert. Forever.

This man gave me nightmares as a kid being a Brewers fan. I am not even kidding. Just... he was so damn good. Everytime he came to the plate was terrifying knowing how good he was. Looking back on it, I really took him for granted. It's crazy to think that the guy that good won't be around anymore. Gonna miss you Albert.

Chills. For a season, I was a teenager again. So glad Albert came back. The season he had brought back many memories of the terror he was for a decade. And even better the machine was reintroduced to a new generation of Cards fans albeit was just a brief taste of how great he was, they can now say they saw the Machine do it with the birds on the bat.

I loved watching him because I'm in college now so when he was with the Cardinals I was very young and don't have many memories other than 2011, so watching him this last season was incredible

Many people might not realize the significance of this. You just witnessed history. Only 3 other players in MLB have hit 700 Homeruns. And while many people don't consider Barry Bonds as a part of that group, the fact that Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron are the only 2 other members says something.

It would've been cool to see him land 700 doubles too. I'll settle for 703 homeruns and breaking Ruth's 2nd place RBI record though. 😉 Amazing career. They should just drive him to the Hall of Fame right now.

Statistically, he had his best season since his first year as an Angel. Way to go out on top, big man. Always a classy player.

With just about every HR, he passed an all time hall of famer in some major category!!! Ridiculous. He was so good. Perhaps the most underrated of all time.

Pujols had one of the most amazing second half runs in history. Legendary status. RH GOAT and it isn't debatable.

Huge Cardinals fan, Albert is my favorite player of all time, but Hank Aaron has a pretty good debate to be the RH Goat. Those two are in a league of their own in terms of RH hitters all time, but don’t forget about Hammerin Hank.

@@itzaydenn WAR is garbage and not a real stat, and if pujols played 2 more seasons like Hank he would have the same outcome except pujols was much better at delivering game winning hits and performed much better in the playoffs

Pujols is the player that truly got me into baseball & I was lucky enough to see him hit 699 & 700 in person at Dodger Stadium. I k knew I was going to fly down for the games to not miss the retirement tour but never expected to actually witness history like that when I got my plane ticket months in advance. A memory I’ll never forget, crowd was absolutely electric despite the loss by Dodgers 🤣

This jerked tears out of me. I'm so passionate for St. Louis Baseball!!! Albert is like our Leonidas!!!! I miss him already!! I am spoiled though!! My prayers were answered and I got to watch Albert come back and get 700!!! I always prayed and just hoped eventually he would come back and he did!!! Thank you!!! I'm selfish tho, I never wanted Albert to retire. Lol. 😏

I watched pujols from childhood until now and he's the reason im a cardinals fan. He's the embodiment of class and a living legend and this season was the most magical season I've ever witnessed even more than the world series wins. I felt like a kid again cheering for him, congrats Albert you're one of the best to ever do it

I didn’t become a fan until I was 9 years old in 2011 so it was special to get to see him come back in 2022 since I only saw 1 year of him back then. I definitely didn’t expect him to have the kind of season he did but I’m also not shocked considering who we are talking about. He will always be my favorite player and a huge reason I became such a big cardinals fan in the first place

Great video. Albert is the GOAT. The genius of the Danny Macs calls too. Giving the total HR number so much attention each time seemed redundant during the season in real time, but when I rewatch them in order in a highlight reel like this it gives the calls new meaning looking and listening back on all of them like this. ❤

I was at that game. It was very special how silent the crowd was during his AB, almost in anticipation. Then it was an electric atmosphere after he hit it.

Awesome job on this video....I've been a huge fan of Albert Pujols my whole life and just love watching his home runs....His swing is epic! He autographed a bat for me even...Such a great person and an amazing hitter....I would have loved to have been one of those lucky people to catch one of his home run balls.... Especially 700, 701, 702 or 703.... Hopefully he pulls a Tom Brady and says he still has so much fun playing that he wants to play next year.... Hopefully the Cardinals go deep into the playoffs, but it will be a tough road....They have some mega wins teams they will have to beat to get to the world series and beyond....

I was at the game vs the Rockies for 690. When the ball cleared the fence railing, everyone started saying the same thing: "700 is no longer a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN."

@@kendraadman7229 I think the first half sets up the second half. Guy comes home, is struggling... then figures it out after he's honored by the league despite a slow start by being put in the home run derby. Finds his swing at the derby - and boom - a run for the ages.

As a 24 year old I grew up watching Pujols home runs. Being able to see #695 in person may be one of my best Cardinals memories of all time. Thanks Albert.

On his 701st homerun of his career, instead of the big leg kick he’s implemented this year he just twitched his leg, like he did in his early years with the cardinals. Pretty cool that he can still rake the same 20 years later, but I wonder what prompted the temporary reversion of his swing.

Old man Pujols is still a better hitter than most.

It was great to see him enter into statistical rarefied airs with the likes of Aaron and Ruth. Only he and Aaron have 1400 XBHS, as well as 700+ HRs and 700+ non-HR XBHs. Only he and Ruth have pitched at the MLB level and hit 700+ HRs.

The game needs more players like him ❤ I have recently just got back into baseball.. when I first watched this about eight months ago( I wasn’t paying much mind to the game when this happened) this got me back into the game big time! Loving baseball again! & hope is heading into a very good direction! ❤

Just an incredible video for an incredible player & incredible human being! As an Empath that feels even smallest of feels, lots of tears watching this for a second time! Maybe more tears! ❤❤❤

Wanted to go back and experience this again, and holy F, this run was a fever dream for all baseball fans. He had virtually no chance entering the season to do this. Some even suggested he should retire and the Cardinals should fill his spot with a younger player after a slow start. But he shut everybody up, and was easily one of the best players in baseball during the 2nd Half of the season. 2022 Numbers: 24 HR's, his most since 2016. .895 OPS, his best since 2011!!! .270 AVG, his best since 2014. If you made this into a movie, it wouldn't be believable. ANOTHER THING: I didn't realize how many of his 24 HR's were BIG Home-Runs. 11 of the 24 either tied the game or took the lead, including 8 of the final 9 Home-Runs to end his career. STUFF OF LEGEND, THANK YOU KING ALBERT!

It’s crazy to think that this may be the last time anyone hits 700 homeruns.

I shed tears when he hit his final homerun. albert didn't just play baseball he loved baseball and is one of the greatest players of this generation, if not ever. Baseball will never be the same without him he made love the game and memories and achieving the impossible by hitting 700 greatness.

Albert Pujols is one great man. In our generation, I'd never sought to see someone hit their 700th home run, I myself am a Yankees fan, but I went to the very game he hit the 700th home run. What a year for baseball. Pujols 700th home run. And. Aaron Judges amazing season, with 62 homeruns in a single season.

Most impressive season he had in awhile. A fellow Cardinals fan and I joked around the previous season that wouldn't it be awesome if Albert came back to St Louis for his final season...Damn I am so glad we were BOTH right. Looking forward to the 2024 season and hoping to see quite a few Cardinal games!

It truly makes you wonder what his final career stat line would have been had he stayed in STL instead of going to Anaheim. His final season (at age 42) was as good or better than he was at any point the entire time he was in LA.
