People don't get it. Everest doesn't want to be a "tourist attraction". It wants to be left beautiful. It's now filled with trash and corpses, and death, and misery. Summitting it is more common and profitable than McDonalds. Everest doesn't want this.

Unfortunately, people are doing little to stop this.

Too metaphorical and poetic. You have a way with words but tone it down a bit. The story gets lost.
