Having hunted S. Africa twice, I believe you should breakdown the total cost in three parts. First part is the flight, lodging, animals, and tips. Second part, the cost for any level of hide and skull prep and the cost to dip, pack and ship your animals. The third part is paying to receive your animals and any additional taxidermy you want done in the US. If I plan on spending $6 K for the hunt, all in I know it might cost me $15K to have some animals mounted. Those are generic numbers, my point is planning on spending close to 3x the cost of your hunt when it's all done and on your wall.

That price would be a bare minimum. If you want to get any of your trophies back to the states it will cost considerably more. I was in Africa in Nov. 2023. On a 7-day hunt. I shot 1 cape buffalo, 2 gemsbok, 1 kudu and a sable. I chose to do only Euro Mounts. The prep for the shipping, the export paperwork and shipper, the importer paperwork, for the shipping on a flight, the airline fees for storage if the importer cannot pick them up for immediately from the airline, arranging for customs inspection, the USDA inspection etc. Then the shipping to my location. That was a total of $4000. You can add in what it would cost to get your trophies mounted however you wanted. Don't get me wrong. I had a great time in Africa, and it was a trip of a lifetime. But be prepared for the extra cost to bring your trophies home.

5 animals including cap buffalo. That's a hell of a hunt. An oryx is all I want to bring back if/when I go so I will still not spend close for $4k trophies. Being overseas I know how it goes, you get shaked down daily for a week. Still worth it though.

But if you go to central, east and west Africa the price is going to jump especially in Tanzania and Ethiopia from what I’ve researched….and then there’s Zambia and Mozambique which are pretty expensive but not bank breaking

I’ve always wanted to hunt in Africa and has been top of my bucket list. Back in 2020 I was able to save up enough to take me and my dad to hunt in Africa (I was 16 at the time) but sadly it all got shut down with COVID. But seeing you breakdown everything it is very doable and hopefully one day I can get everything together and be able to go. Also mullet man is it possible if you can do another lodge tour and go full in depth with most of the mounts? It might be a bit repetitive as you already did one and that’s okay if it’s a no but will be amazing! Keep up the amazing work with the great content.

This is the key question I was hoping to be answered. I plan on taking a trip but I have yet to find a rough estimate on what it would cost to ship the animal back to mount. Or if you pay to Mount in Africa then send it overseas. It’s easy over here in south Texas. Shot a Nilgai two winters ago and received the Mount within 18 months.

I went to South Africa in 2022. The cost of the hunt was very reasonable. Tips were a little high but they treated me great. The cost of the taxidermy was the same as I could get it in the US so I didn’t mind that either. It was the shipping that shocked me. 4 heads shipped back was more than the cost of the taxidermy. I wasn’t prepared for that shocker. Obviously if you ship just the hides back it would be cheaper. My thought was I wouldn’t send a mule deer to Africa to get mounted. Not saying the taxidermists in the US aren’t good. I had my mounts back in a year.

Nice Breakdown for the oversea Hunters, Yet we as South African Hunters feel that we have been sifted to the side because of the exchange rate... Yes this Farm is in Namibia, I have work out accordingly to our rates in South Africa Farms Rand to the Doller, only the animals in doller come to a total of $135k were in South African you could hunt the same package in South African rand as follows as an Southa African, Daily per Hunter Rates R500 , Impala R2 200 warthog R1000 Springbok R1500 Oryex between R5000 and R15000 depending on the area, I personally think and feel that the States/overseas Hunters are killing our local hunters and hunters children's to become hunters because of the exchange rate and that our local farmers don't see the damage that the are currently doing to our local Hunters trying to teach our children to hunt as there parents because of the amount of money involved and the exchange rate #huntingisfun

When I went to Africa back in '18, it cost me $6.5k to have 5 animals taxidermized and shipped back home. my flight was about $2400, hunt package was $5200. so all together it was just over $14k with tips to guides and staff. Nobody likes to talk about full cost, they only talk about the hunt package, which is actually cheap compared to paying for hunts in the US. I will say, even though it is expensive, it is definitely a once in a lifetime experience if you can afford it.
