Brownell played phenomenal squash! Gawad looked tired, probs played too many matches recently but his class pulled him through. Great match!!!

Watching Brownell's strategic plays is enjoyable. With the addition of the kill shot to broaden his strategic range and acquiring the stamina to execute his strategies, he will shine even brighter.

Looked like Gawad expected to roll through that match, and realized after the second game that he needed to actually play. Good for Timmy. Hell of an evolution this young man has made.

What a bad decision that last call was. That was absolutely a let.

Too harsh to award a “no let” for the last point as it was a poor shot from Gawad.

Disagree. Brownell created the interference by hitting a loose cross-court which Gawad put away from the T: Brownell has to go get that if he can. If that's a let then we need a new rule that loose shots must be hit back to the opponent.

@@tavishmcdonell6615 you don't create interference by making shots, that is irrelevant. Gawad made a poor shot and did not make all the effort he could to provide enough space for the shot of Brownell

Looks like a great match! Would have been interesting if Brownell got the let at the end, as he should have.

AAAAaaand another match decided by an obviously blown call. Great look, PSA. The good news is you've got four years to figure this out.

The last point wasn't a good call from the ref, brownell was fast enough to catch the ball and it was a loose shot by gawad.

Gawad looked tired and slow going there at first. Brownell did play well though. Good potential for sure

dang. brownell has the soft hands and power. just needs to work on his pace.

It’s an instant decision but I feel a let would have been fairer,the players are so quick these days👍

Final call was correct... Gawad was yards from the ball, Brownell had to get to that. Superb fight! I like how Brownell put up real resistance in the 5th, right down to the intense final couple rallies. That tenacity will serve him well in future battles.

I don't think people are contesting the distance to the ball. It's that Gawad keeps his legs apart and moves left into Brownell's line after hitting the shot. It looks to me (and to a lot of other people apparently) that Gawad did not make the appropriate effort to clear and Brownell would have reached that ball if he had.

The way I read that is if you hit a shot while you're standing on the T you have every right to pull back to the T. His feet didn't even move... I think Brownell was just too far from the ball and needed to go around. Admittedly I'm not a certified ref, would be interesting to hear from anyone who is

​@@jacobeliosoff1264you never have a right to the T, it's just where you want to be, but you have to give access, and Gawad's shot was definitely a bit heavy.

Brownell played great, would have got to that last ball, yes let would have been the best decision.

Gawad looked so off but Brownell also played quite well

Last ball probably should have been a let. Ball bounced up and Brownell was already moving towards the front right corner.

It's definitely warm out there, but this is also an artifact of the camera position. The camera is closer to the back of the court than usual, so they are using a wider shot to capture it all. That stretches out the dimensions of the court more (you can see that the court looks longer than usual). Then the ball looks like it is traveling faster and bouncing further off the walls.

Def bouncer than most other tournament. Very similar to the concrete wall courts at our club which I absolutely hate

Can’t disagree really but this game was close still feel a let would have been a fairer decision,also why aren’t referees calling serves down at all,after watching the ibrahim game he was encroaching on nearly all the serves no foot faults or warnings why it’s in the rules😱

lets be honest caught Gawad on an off day... this wouldn't be close otherwise

great match but awful tactics from gawad. he should’ve taken the pace off the ball and hit into open space rather than going for fast exchange

Awful decision again by mazarello awarding a no let on match ball,would have easily reached that ball once again poor marking in a tight match👍

More dreadful reffing from Mazarella, ruining match ball this time.
