Hey champ, just watched this episode, it’s so refreshing to see somebody doing there thing, I am older mate but had humble beginnings, I have a shop for Myself and I do a few jobs to pay the rent and keep my family fed. I agree the world has gone to shit, I train auto motive apprentices, and I also train mechanical engineers. It’s hard to get the youth of today to understand that hard work does pay off, and that just because you don’t have a million dollars in the bank doesn’t mean your life is fulfilled. I see myself so lucky to have the opportunity to impart my knowledge of trades to the youth of today, and see them succeed. Love your show, and thank you for speaking out mate.legend

Jake, I wouldnt normally comment on a video, but I had to for this one. I have nothing but respect for what you say. What a fantastic video! Your raw and realistic insite is an inspiration and pure reality of the superficial world we live in. I hope that you have teenage and young subscribers watching this video, because what you say is honest and a harsh reality. There are no free rides in this world, but there is nothing you can't do without blood. sweat and tears. You are proof of that. Thanks for keeping it real.

I love this video. I built cars with my friends as a teenager learning by doing making mistakes and trying again and then got married and had kids and didn’t touch cars for a long time. Then my kids got to the age to drive and into cars and passed on my knowledge to them helping them with their cars. I still don’t have a lot of money to pay someone to build my dream car an LC Torana GTR XU1 in Plumdinger. I can’t afford a 2 door let alone the XU1 but found an LC Torana 4 door. I have spent the last couple of years working on it and get what you were saying about the motivation. I spent 6 months not touching the car when I was struggling with the cutting and welding and didn’t seem to be making any progress making mistakes and re doing it again but the satisfaction you get from those little wins encourages me to keep going. It’s taking me way longer than I expected but it’s my dream car so I keep going saving money buy parts get back in the shed and do the next thing. Your an inspiration to many young people mate so don’t sell yourself short. I know for myself I have learned things watching your videos and I am sure I wouldn’t be the only one. Keep up the great work.

I feel as tho I have a similar mentality to you I am 21 still young bought my first car at 15 and still have that car. I live to work on my cars and push my self to build my cars. I started my heavy diesel mechanic at 15 and was qualified by 19 every single after I am in the shed working on my cars people walk past the shed and stop and talk and tell me about the cars they used to have when they why my age they tell me they see me every day working and working and I just tell them that it is my passion. I do absolutely everything my self on my cars and push my self to doing new things with them and could never bring my self to pay someone to do the things I do to them. I hear prices of what people pay to get things done to there car and am complaining shocked because I don’t ever get to see that side of it because I do everything myself. During covid i decided to start a KZread channel doing what I love building my cars and am now super proud of where I am with nearly 2000 subscribers. I entered my car in a burnout competition that was 6 weeks away as a cammed LS1 with a custom paint job. But I’m reality it was just a standard V6 VX commodore. We pushed and pushed and I worked every single afternoon/night until 11-12pm for 6 weeks straight with help from my dad I documented my journey on my KZread channel all in my shed at home. We resprayed the whole car, done a LS conversion cammed the motor ran gearbox lines wires and everything required to get the car running and 3 days before the event we finished the respray on the car. The feeling I had after that car was done after all the hard work and dedication that got put in to it after the the money forked put in those 6 weeks that feeling was something I have never ever felt before and was by far the best experience in my life. Seeing the car finished after being physically and emotionally drained with ups and downs the whole build was the most amazing feelings I reckon I will ever have. Thank you your videos are very motivational and inspire me to get pushing my dream to be bigger and bigger!!

Done all underneath bushings, trailing arms, radius bushings lower control arms, engine transplant, new sensors all round, cas rebuild, timing, fueltank clean things I've never ever laid a hand on but I've completed that & the rear with some failures along the way but its also been the best learning experience. Now I'm determined to save my baby and start the body prep! First time for everything I guess, there's only one way to learn. Fuck up and come back from it 😀

Great video Jake, people really value authenticity and I know it wasn't your aim, but I'm sure you have won alot of people over tonight. I have adopted the same principle you described about investing in yourself and doing it yourself but with my house renovation, and starting down the path of more involved car stuff soon. There really is nothing more satisfying looking at the job once completed and having the satisfaction you did it yourself. Getting alot out of the channel, keep it up

Have been a car guy all my life, had a couple of nice ones over the years, but life sometimes gets in the way and unfortunately you make tough decisions. Found your video tonight really interesting, your message about work ethic, goals, dedication and commitment resonated. I'm in my 50's now and finally might be in a position to get another car for myself. I'll keep an eye out on the channel to see what you might have come up to sell. Hey mate love your channel it shows people that you don't need $100,000 to build a car! i have to say though and im not trying to take anything away from you, 80 git then bogging over acrilic paint is not a good thing!, I've been painting in smash shops for 20 years then had my own resto shop for 10 years till I had an condition that put me in a wheelchair, I know that body filler has come along way over the years but all commodores were painted in acrilic up until the vs some were 2k we use to have to do the thinners test, anyway what im saying is acrilic is thermo plastic not a stable base to fill over and to be honest that bog will not last over the acrilic paint, you are best off paint stripping the acrilic off because even 40 grit pad on a buff will just make it melt not sand, please don't bog over acrilic you do such a good job but its such a huge mistake, even bogging over 2k I would bare metal the main low spot then blend the filler, also there is spray polly a spray on bog basically wich is goes on even without applicator highs, keep up the great work but please don't bog over acrilic paint makes me cringe, cheers Adam
