    @@seansrecords Thanks. I have two studio monitors 10 feet apart, if that is what you mean by stereo. Which unit can you recommend? I loved my FM9 but it was a bit overkill for me. That said, the Stomp just did not inspire me the same way...at all. I want a simple unit that sounds good and ties me over- until Fractal finally gets around to updating their ancient UI- maybe with a nice touchscreen, then I will return. As I said, the tones right out of the box was killer on the FM9. I can get a NUC MG30 for $200 used at GC. Might be good enough for now??? Many seem to like it and it won't break the bank as a short term fix.

    Sounds pretty good but, I am not blown away personally. So much stuff lately say they are just doing the next best thing and since the kemper’s release I feel like things have been nominal in terms of quality of sound improvements. I am still on an HX stomp for size convenience and it offers enough options in my chain for my live playing, so I don’t see myself changing that for a while unless something actually crazy comes along.

    Honestly, digital modelling has been great since the line 6 hd500 was released. The big improvement that came after that was better IR modelling, which is why Kemper/Helix etc sound much better. I haven't been blown away by anything lately either, like yourself.

    I so want one of these, they have been on backorder for 6 months plus, it is an expensive pedal but you can set some amazing effects that seem otherworldly. I just ordered the Epiphone Explorer so I am tapped out for a while, I hope that stays in stock and doesn't sell out immediately. As always an entertaining review.

    I ordered mine in October last year. Received it months later this year. It's weird, but as technologically amazing and unique as it is, it just doesn't move me. I can't fall in love with its sound. If I decide to sell it, since it's literally brand new, I'm not gonna miss it at all. It's very convenient for gigs or church music, but for my use case with synthesizers as a hobbyist producer in my little studio, it doesn't do anything that I couldn't get with several plugins I already own, including Eventide ones. Sometimes having the best thing doesn't mean one will have the best time. I have more fun with my Zoom MS-70CDR even if it doesn't sound as good. I don't get it!

    I mean, seeing as how an Eventide H9000 is like 6 grand, this is relatively affordable by comparison. I already have the Tricera-chorus and it's quickly become one of my favorite pedals ever. I've been considering selling it plus my delay and reverb and just going all in with one of these for everything. After owning the tricera-chorus I have become a huge fan of Eventide. I see why they are legendary now.

    I have the h9 and it's really great, the trick is having the mix right, you use it as epic background that responds in time to your playing, you couldn't ask for more controlled by ipad - octave, harmony, delays, fuzz, eq, reverbs, to name a few, best part is creating and saving with ultimate control over multiple delayed elements of every sound, expression is assignable to all parameters, stereo, compact, it's worth selling all your pedals, if you have a tube amp and this you'll be very happy, I have helix, h9, monitor speakers, H O G, Roger linn adrenalin, plus 20 more all hooked up, but you don't need all that 😅

    Not sure of UK prices but here it’s sitting right between the HX stomp XL and the helix LT, costing the same money as the GT1000 core. Obviously it has vastly less connections and switches than any of those. But if you like it and want to justify the cost it’s “only” half as much as a quad cortex I guess. It’s an interesting space really because the helix stuff is a bit long in the tooth at this point, but tbh what I’d probably go for if I wanted to spend that ballpark on multi fx

Having said that, this has to be the worse review of this stunning piece of gear Ive ever seen. The price alone should tell how good quality and powerful and flexible and usable this unit really is. Its got so much in it and its so ground breaking you do need to study up big time before using it. But what its capable of is amazing - sorry guys you really didnt sell it - its not a Zoom pedal! Why not check out the Eventide demos or other peoples reviews to see how good this thing really is. Its I/O alone is so comprehensive it almost makes that price point less painful on its own. A degree in Astrophysics music helps somewhat to tap into much of what it can do.

    @mpgnz73 yes man gt1000 is great, the tonekx has better cab/amp sounds than thee built in amp, so I use the gx100 mostly for the echo/ delays/reverbs/modulation effects as there is tones of them built in and boss really shines here , then i mostly use physical drive/distortion/fuzz pedals/treble booster, wah, eq and compressors etc but I will use the built in distortion/comp/eq if I'm loookingg a specific sound I don't have , and use the tonex for the amp and cab sounds and its awesome.....it feels way more alive than the AIRD tech amps even on the gt1000 .......so the tonex gx100 combo works better for me as it it save miney but, I get the boss effects and the better amp sounds...plus physical pedals are fun to use lol

    Years ago I went to a Friend's Gig in this Small Pub , he had just bought a Digitech Guitar Multi Effects it was one of the Best at that time , the Singer always Drank heavily before and During the Gig . That night the Singer was really Pissed up and between a song he Vomited all over my Friends new Multi-Effects then stumbled backwards into my friend who was playing a Gibson LP they both toppled backwards into the drums . My friend ended up with a broken wrist and thumb and a broken Gibson LP , the Pissed up singer was fine he just woke up nursing a hang over .

    Sounds great, but I keep coming back to this one thought: for a grand, plus probably $400-500 for a real top notch MIDI switcher (lots of foot switches and a big display) and another $200 or so for a dedicated overdrive pedal, I'm now in Fractal FM-9 territory price-wise, and that's like bringing a knife (H90) to a gun (FM9) fight...

    I was on the fence for this for quite some time... but nah. It was fresh in the 80s and maybe 90s but those pitch shifters, delay-networks etc. start to sound somewhat cheesy, at least for me. Its a bit over the top, too attention-grabbing and also I fear that those sounds will probably age poorly. Still, I find it a bit sad, I really wanted a new stereo-do-it-all-toy.

  • @onenotesolo256

    The presets are definitely a bit OTT to grab attention. You can copy any of them into a different bank and tweak to your heart’s content. This definitely took me a while to get around, as I never had an H9, but it’s a great do-it-all mod and wet effects box. I spent. Couple of hours going through the 9i presets and wound up with about 30 in an editable bank, and that has become about 15 that I use for whole or usually just parts of songs live.

    Guessing "presets" are the set ups that come as standard and programs are your own settings, either from scratch or by tweaking presets. Or am I about 30 years out of date? Probably...

  • @anthonyagnello3733

    @anthonyagnello3733

    Жыл бұрын

    Well I'm 50 years out of date and have always been confused about terms like 'presets' FWIW, here's what the words Programs and Presets mean wrt H90. First off, it helps to know that the effects are called Algorithms. We don't call them effects because an algorithm like Mod Echo Verb is 3 effects. A preset is an Algorithm saved with the parameters set a certain way. The H90 can run two presets, (two algs with certain parameter settings) at a time. And the two algs/presets can be connected in parallel or in series and will have footswitch, expression pedal assignments and on and on. All of those settings are combined and saved as a 'Program'. The Andertons guys used the word patch and we considered calling Programs Patches but landed on, for good or bad, Program. So, when you load a Program (the H90 comes with 99 Factory created Programs), the H90 runs the two 'Presets' connected either in series or parallel with all the assignments that were saved as that named Program. Hope this helps.
