EVENT HORIZON (1997) Ending Explained

Ойын-сауық

In the cosmic horror classic Event Horizon, a rescue crew is tasked with investigating the mysterious reappearance of a spaceship that had been lost for seven years. They soon discover the Event Horizon has gone beyond the realms of time and space, and has come back changed by an evil dimension. There's quite a bit of mystery to the evil onboard, so we're breaking down the story, detailing just what happened to the ship and its crew, along with explaining the ending.

I have a micro SD card with this and Ghost Ship (along with Cube and a couple other movies) on it that was my fall back when I had unreliable internet or none at all. It's hilarious watching those two as a double feature since they're almost beat-for-beat the same movie 😂 love them both to death 😉 and have seen Event Horizon alone probably 20 or so times. There's just a certain vibe to 90s and early 2000s horror films, especially sci-fi themed, that I don't think we'll ever see again. Something about the practical FX, full sets, and real film recording that I guess is just too expensive to recreate anymore. But damn, when they did it right back then, they did it RIGHT! This movie holds one of my favorite movie quotes of all time. Miller: closes recording of the original crew in chaos...."We're leaving."

Absolutely loved this film when I watched it for the first time a few years ago. It served the inspiration for one of my favorite horror games Dead Space, so this movie will always have a special place in my heart,

Event Horizon is one of my favorite horror movies, my dad & I every once in a while watch it when I visit. I once heard that this might be War Hammer based or something as humanity's first contact with the warp, I dunno much if anything about War Hammer but thought I'd mention that in case someone is interested. It's interesting how unintentionally Event Horizon & Ghost Ship(2002) have similarities. Both are about a the crew of a ship(one a space ship the other an actual ship) taking an outsider to investigate/deal with an abandoned ship only to end up haunted in some way with the ship killing people at some point, their own ship getting destroyed eventually. When it seems like it's all over the survivor/survivors in some way learn it's not over yet.(In Ghost Ship it's over for the survivor but she saw that it's going to start all over again) While both are similar you can tell they're different & they're both interesting movies I enjoy watching on occasion cause I just watch a bunch of horror movies when I hang out with my dad.

Not really, it's not that good of a movie. Don't get me wrong, I have fun with it. It has more of a cult following akin to Rock Horror Picture Show. It's not a good movie. Lots of bad writing as well "As you know..." if the characters know why are they reexplaining. It's a lazy way to get exposition off. Also the cliche of explaining how folding space works to A GROUP OF SPACE TRAVELLERS, is just about explaining to the audience. It's not good writing.

@@vinnyc.1265 agree, it does a good job at keeping you entertained and the shock value of the images appeal to your morbid curiosity but when you get past that the movie doesn't leave you anything to chew on; without knowing about the deleted scenes the best you can make out is that the ship was haunted or possessed, which admittedly sounds more and more stupid the more you think about it.

@@vinnyc.1265 you do realize the reason he's explaining folding space to them is that, in their universe, that is not how they travel through space. The whole point of the movie is that he invented the gravity drive, and it went wrong. Up until that point in the movie, the Event Horizon was the only ship that folded space. He's explaining it because to them, just like us, folding space is science fiction.

Aye, though Weir was likely influenced by Chaos beforehand (just by looking at his spiky and meat-grindery designs) so he probably would've omitted or disabled them anyway without even realizing. Think Weir was a latent?

Nice, this was a pleasant surprise! I would love to see a quick Breakdown/Ending Explained for the KZread short "Other side Of The Box". It's an absolutely fantastic original short and it's only about 15 minutes long so it wouldn't take long to do a classic FoundFlix Ending Explained.
