I never get tired of watching the miracle of birth !

It had to be one of the most spiritual stimulating moments in my life each time the other donkeys cheered. The communication between them is so humbling because we humans believe that only we experience such emotional joy.

The guy videotaping is aware she needs help when he pokes the stick in the foal's face to help her get air. He was clueless about what was happening, as the mother is of her duties after giving birth.

Thank you for sharing By not helping the baby like sooo many folks have complained about, the baby is stronger! In the wild, baby foalsneed to struggle at first to build up their stamina and improve their survival chances. People who “help” donkeys and horses give birth are often doing a disservice to the foals.

I don't understand why people are so crazy about helping the donkey.. Even if it's domesticated, horses or donkey can give birth alone. Horses are not always helped even in "civilated" area (i mean centre of breeding or stables). Obiouvsly he could help her a little, but it's not an imperative, they can do it by thereself. You know.. even human female can give birth alone without help of an hospital and anesthezia.. You know, give birth take time, it not have to be finished in 1 minute. it's not a problem if it take a little longer. A female human, can give birth and push 30 minutes without problems...And even more for some. So take a breath. Sure she suffer and is exhauster but it's normal, and pull out the baby out of her is really really painful! For a human female, it's HORRIBLY painful, so it have to be more or less the same for a donkey..

Nolwenn LaPomme they can do it themselves but help is good for the baby and the mom, it makes shorter time for everyone. They don’t need to but it is nice to feel like you are helping.

Can your dog crack your skull with one kick? I mean.. I'd try to help the donkeys myself, but I can't judge someone else for caring for thier own safety... im sjre they have a family to come home to, and even humans get crazy while giving birth, but all mammals can. I had to block a screaming cat giving birth from biting her kitten as it came out because she was a first time mom and didn't know what was hurting her. Bit the crap out of my hand instead. I knew getting her to eat the placenta would help her calm down and bond with her baby so I shoved that after into in her face till she ate the first one. Then she understood that that was a kitten and she did well thereafter and was a good mom. My point is though, that had a DONKEY bit my hand in that state, my hand would be gone! A kick also could kill and so I wouldn't judge someone keeping themselves safe from the potential harm.

Clearly a lot of folks need to spend more time on farms! There is no need to help her, this is a normal birth and everything is going fine. Its actually pretty quick and easy for most mammals. Farm cows have issue sometime due to how we have bred them, but domesticated donkeys are actually little changed from their wild ancestors. The mother is clearly fine with the people there. Most animals used to humans are untroubled by sex, birth etc with humans present as they don't have the same hangups we do. A wild animal no, they would be threatened by humans. But with farm animals, as long as they've not had a bad experience, she actually might feel more secure with the humans close, keeping other more dangerous animals away while she births. Also you can touch babies, mothers will not reject them. That is an old wive's tale possibly to keep kids from pestering animals and wildlife. If you need to assist you need to wash your hands well with warm soap and water. Some people do clean away the amniotic sac which is the clear sac around the foal as well as clean out the nostrils of mucus. This baby seemed strong and broke the sac on its own as well as cleared her own nostrils. It is important to NOT rush the process of birth. The umbilical cord will break on its own after the placental blood has passed to the foal. Anyways spectacular to watch! Life never ceases to amaze me.

I have spent my entire life on a farm & never have we ever NOT helped our animals give birth. It makes recovery faster because the mother isn't exhausted from giving birth. We always wrap all the mother's stomachs after birth & feed them triple portions the 1st 5 days after giving birth. It's being a good owner & provider for your animals.

Holy cow!!! That is the first time I’ve ever seen an equine just quit like that. That’s insane! Good thing that baby had some self preservation. He/she might not have made it if y’all hadn’t been there to clear the nostrils. Good looking donkeys y’all have.

this is letting nature take its own course in its own time. Animals in the wild have no help, no intervention. They know what to do all on their own. What a beautiful experience to share

this is a domestic donkey on a farm, a world of difference from an animal in the wild. the guy is incompetent and could have caused serious harm due to his neglect. as it is, he left a mom donkey laying down far away from her baby when she should have been up and instinctively licking and bonding to her baby and nudging it towards her nipples to drink, something that is natural and when it doesn't happen and the farmer does nothing, many times the baby dies. this is a dangerous video if new farmers think this is the way to deal with domestic donkey birth.

Mom waiting ,baby waiting with its little face looking out the end ,lol... I can see my new world ,soon I will get lunch from my mommy!!

Donkeys and horses likes to give birth alone. she was so busy with the camera man and all the talking, that her delivery took longer. not fair on mom

Thank you Mary! All the "you should have helped her" comments must be from ppl who have never had any type of pet, or livestock for that matter. They wanna be alone for birth. She didn't look stressed at all, to me 🌞

@@twodogzdogue8710 as a mother, of two, I sincerely appreciate your words. Mothers, including my own sadly, are not appreciated nearly as much as they should be. I wouldn't trade my role for anything in the world. Mothers, of every species, are wonderful and amazing creatures 🌞

If she is having trouble getting the kid out you will need to assist her. I've watched cows give birth to cafes and they sometimes need help

And these pregnant animals give birth with NO Epidural or pain medication and obviously not in a hospital!! Now that’s one tough mama!!!! Animals do this every day so I feel like out of all women, Animal moms need a pat on the back, and they can’t just drop there newborn babies at a family members for them to watch them or a find a babysitter like humans do as to our advantage. Animals in general have impressive pain tolerance. They can just go to a pharmacy to get some OTC meds, or let alone a doctor… while PREGNANT WOMEN IM SURE HAVE JT BAD, but in my book, animals have a lot harder life and giving birth etc.

why you people are getting mad over what the man say? Just enjoy the video and stop critizing his language. Thank you all for posting!

any responsible person who has animals helps the mother in birth. things can go south and your stock needs your help. if a person is required to feed and groom and protect his animals, is it not good also to give assistance at birth? she was imploring you to help her baby to breathe ! look at her in the video! do you see?

He could have helped just a little, here and there (if he knew what he was doing)..certainly could have got the sac of the nose a lot sooner..but best to not interfere if possible. ps. a lot of babies born in the wild don’t make it.
