Good explanation. Gas velocity can not be 0. If truly 0 then there is not movement of water vapor (gas) from the surface to the surrounding. By definition evaporation is gas movement. Also there would be air movement from natural convection.

Hi, I'm currently trying to calculate rate of water removal from a liquid by bubbling with a dry gas. I am having trouble finding the correct equation to use. Do you know what the name of the equation is or where i can find it? or even better, would you happen to know an equation specifically for my scenario?

Hi Don, is the surface area(1.5 m) needed to be included in the equation of evaporation flow rate at the example question?

did you find an answer to this? Im having the same problem

It looks like IF Ts ambient were high enough the evaporation would stop or could go to a condensing state. Is this true? I assume T is the surface temperature of the liquid. (Pvs T - o Pvs Ts)

HI Don, its helpful video. thank you. Can you please help me. I am working on a project below task is as follow: there is a tray with capacity of 1.2 kg internal volume. & there is copper coil with 82 degree avg. temp. the coil is deep in tray. there is 90% RH. so challenge is 300 ml water will dropped in tray at 0 degree temp. in every 8 hrs. water tray will over flow in 12 days. If I used there is material steel coil. what will be the evaporation of water, day of over flow and coil turns. Coil spec: Dia. 4.2mm Length: 1m Coil Turn : 8 Coil Dia: 30mm Steel coil:Dia.4.2mm Length: ----. Coil Turn : ----. Coil Dia: ----.

Great video! I might have missed something but the molecular mass of nitrogen is 14 g/mol, not 18. Also it would be great to have some references. Cheers

At 14:46, the calculation is (.0888/Lv)*(4424-717). I thought Lv was 2251000 J/kg? That gives me 1.46E-4

I wanted to ask why did you use 610 Pa as your initial pressure. Thanks

Vapour pressure of water at 273K

You could use any reference though. 373.15K and 1 atm is another common point to pick
