    Thank you!! I saw this at UCLA. So memorable!! Based on a shameful era of British brutality against the French Canadian Acadia and their friends, allies and family, Mi'kmaq, the major Indigenous tribe. Breaks my heart. Tragic. Unforgettable.

    @@elliottbronstein1214 I don't remember which, but I seem to recall that it wasn't played on the TV with the tiny screen so it was possibly a DVD. It had such heartfelt violin music.

    The character is Cajun, or Acadian.

    They were Acadian -- from Nova Scotia before the expulsion. The region was called Acadie. The Acadians were 100% of European descent, not Creole.

    @CanadianMonarchist never disputed that, I'm definitely not short nor darker, I'm also Acadian, and from the maritimes, Halifax Nova Scotia is where I live.
