Can´t believe how many who still claims Holyfield won this fight. Moorer was not aggressive enough for Atlas, because he knew that Moorer could do better against this version of Holyfield. But he still had over 100 more landed punches (47%) than Holyfield (30%), and thats a huge difference.

A Heavyweight Championship Fight is not a video game. It’s not like the amateurs where you can win based on how many times you “touch” or “make contact” with the other guy. It is about TAKING the greatest title in professional sports. …. And for Judge Jerry Roth to NOT GIVE the round to the Heavyweight Champion of the World … in a round where the Champion …. KNOCKS DOWN !!!! .… the challenger. That’s right ! Think about it. Jerry Roth called the round even based on the fact that Moorer was landing more ! WHAT !!! He scored the second round EVEN ! a 10-10 round !!!! Holyfield ultimately lost the belts by ONE POINT !!!! THAT ONE POINT !!! To determine the balance of the Heavyweight Title !!!! OMG !!!! Had Roth even scored the round 10-9 ( which would have still been controversial ) and not 10-8 ( which many believed he deserved ) Holyfield would have retained his title on a Majority Draw. … George Foreman was at ringside and went as far too imply that a dirty deal went down with the Duvas ! ( who contractually held both fighters ) In any event , Judge Jerry Roth should have been punished by being banished from EVER being able to judge a Championship fighter again ! … But hey Michael Moorer “touched” Evander significantly more in the round. Guess that equals out to the Heavyweight Champion of the World … LEVELING him to the ground like a Bowling Pin !!!!! 🥊

I’m a Holyfield fan, but I have to agree with u. If u turn down the volume and stop listening to the bias commentary and watch rounds 5-12, Moorer won every single one of those rounds.

@@michaelgallagher5519 That was not a 10-8 round. No way. To get 10-8 Holyfield needed the knockdown and to win the rest of the round, which he clearly didn't do.

This fight really exposed Holyfield's complete lack of defense. It's shocking to see how many punches he took to the face without blocking a single one! His cross guard was completely ineffective in this fight. Moorer methodically picked him apart.

I’m a Holyfield fan but I can definitely see why He lost this fight. From round 5 on he never got his second wind. The commentators were biased for Holyfield and kept giving him rounds because they thought Moorer didn’t do enough, but they didn’t question the inactivity of Holyfield. Moorer’s jab was excellent in this fight. Turn down the volume and watch rounds 5-12 without the commentary. Moorer earned that win IMO.

@@philthompson7318 it’s not automatic actually, if the other fighter is winning the round they have to give that point to that fighter. Which is why the judges did so, it’s happened in plenty other fights before. It’s rare that this happens which is why the scoring is confusing to most people. A knockdown is 1 point taken off from the opponent, whatever else happens in the round still matters.
