But he's always lying. He claims his mother instilled good christian values in him, that he is a great christian. Yet he cheated on his wife with 9 other women and fathered children with all of them, and doesn't play child support and doesn't see those kids outside of his original marriage. And he beat his wife. And took illegal substances.

Fear is an emotional response. There is no thinking involved. You don't decide to be scared. Once it's upon you it might be possible to rationalise some of it away, but in most cases the cause of the fear needs to be disposed of before the fear fades away . . .

Yeah. Absolutely. I hadn't followed all of this back in the day. I am just coming back to it now with a critical eye, not knowing who anybody really was. Yet when watching Tyson compilations, documentaries etc and it came to him facing Holyfield, I *instantly* could see that this guy had sufficient skill, toughness, endurance and speed to match Tyson. But most of all was the way that Holyfield held himself in the ring: he just had this 'poise', such well-contained balance. It was like you could see that in a perfectly tuned body which had been developed to the absolute max like Tyson's, that there was this mind there whose sharpness and composure and agility which could be instantly seen in the body's movements. It was there, so fast, always judging and adapting very fast. Like I said, I didn't really know anybody except Tyson's name, didn't know the outcome of any of the fights, yet when the chronology got to Holyfield, even my unskilled eye could see his sheer quality and ability, different fromTyson's but equal.

He destroyed everything the heavyweight division had to offer for four years. Holmes, Spinks, Tillman, Ruddock. Holyfield himself lost comprehensively to Lewis twice (forget what the judges said), narrowly to Bowe, and lost to Moorer all during his prime. Both men were awesome boxers in probably the best era of heavyweight boxing. Tyson dominated early, Holyfield dominated the early nighties, Lewis the late nineties. Somehow I doubt Any of those three men could be touched by the others during their years of dominance, but it happens that Mike didn't fight the other two in the eighties, and Lewis got to fight both men when he was just finding his prime.

Something I find extraordinarily interesting. All these champion heavyweight fighters turned out to be real gentlemen. From old school right up until today. From Jack Dempsey and Joe Lewis to George Foreman and Mike Tyson. Ali was the consummate gentleman. Generous and kind-hearted. Joe Frazier was a sweetheart. You can't say that about any other sport.

Rr It might surprise you but fighters don't sleep with a lot of women. They usually stick to one at a time. Probably because it takes away from their training. You would not believe how focused top athletes are. James Harrison, #92 of the Pittsburgh Steelers, landed with the team at 4 AM in Pittsburgh and at 6 AM, was seen heading into the weight room. He's 38 and playing at championship level. Harrison is also a real classy guy. A true mensch.

Tysons left hook was deadly for everyone even Evander. Did'nt matter how big you are if you get a full on Mike Tyson left hook its night night. Evander knew Tysons fighting technique and made it very hard for tyson to get any advantage. I think sheer frustration caused Tyson to bite his ears. As much as Tyson tried he could not get past Evanders defence.

@@playabledance Didnt i mention that? Guess i didnt. But yes it was both reasons. Mike already put u0 with headbutting during the 1st match and put up with it for a large part of the 2nd. But he was also frustrated not being able to get through Evanders defence. Evander didnt give him any chance to move his arms. He would get in close and hold and block basically smothering him. It took too much energy for mike to try and push evander around he didnt want to tire too quickly. They both trained at the same Gym Evander studied Tyson more than anyone.
