It's been a minute (read: two years) since I've done one of these. This is such a jam... I couldn't resist.

Big yes on the return to covers, Evan. Not that I mind the absence if it's filled with sweet creative SPRH noodling. (P.S, more SPRH please).

Always love watching your covers. Really really good technique I learn a lot just watching you play. Really cool choice using the butt of the stick to achieve the fatter heavier sound. Also I thought your choice of cymbals was spot on. I am a sucker for a well made dark, but tasteful, cymbal. Keep it up man!

Awesome to see you doing a drum cover again Evan. Any particular reason you're holding the stick upside down in your left hand? If I had to guess, it would to make the hit sound less.. sharp? Not sure if that's the right word, but then again I have no idea what I'm talking about so. Anyways, cheers man. Great song great cover.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I do that to give some more beef to the snare hits. Instead of using a heavier stick, I just flip it over!

  • @evanmchapman

+Tommy Wilson +jamboyjelly Thanks for watching! I was using an AKG D110 on the kick, SM57's on the snare top and toms, Sennheiser e604 on the bottom of the snare, a pair of Nady CM-88's as overheads, and an MXL 990 out in the room. The liveliness/wetness of the room I was recording in played a big part in the drum sounds. I really cranked the room mic.
