A sublime lyric performed by a sublime artist.
She lets the music go right to our soul, and it's what good music is supposed to do.
You know Eva asked the pianist to add a little special to his part. He was nervous he may mess up this incredible performance . His part was beautiful. She was incredible
I actually think the piano break really sets off her performance. Lenny Williams the pianist in the band had nothing prepared when Eva asked him to help her out with this right before the concert. When she nodded at him in the video he said he just started tinkling and what came out, to my ears, is a very fitting and lovely piano break that enhances the feeling of the song.
Heavenly!
Yes! She's like a duet!
Now we are seeing singers doing covers of Eva Cassidy's covers !! What a compliment that is ~ She now owns a lot of these songs.

When I listen to Eva Cassidy cover a familiar song it is like hearing it again for the first time.
I love her❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢
Never realized just how beautiful that song is until I heard her version. Good reaction. Thanks for that.
Eva was a young master of her art! No one can compare.
I really appreciate your reaction - This Lady was so Special !
She was a generational talent and so very cruel to have lost her so young. Some others you might enjoy are Fields Of Gold, Stormy Monday, Tall Trees In Georgia, Time After Time, and there are many more. I can only imagine what works of artistic genius we have lost out on. Thank you for your reaction and comments.
Eva is spectacular, and I really enjoyed hearing your special appreciation. Thanks for your response!
This is the best version of the song I've ever heard. I come back to it often.
Sublime. Transcendent. And what an exquisite arrangement!
She is absolutely one of the all time best singers period.I have her cd and basically wore it out listening to it over and over.
Bob, I'm with you: Eva Cassidy's performances are exquisite.

Every time I listen to one of her songs, my jaw ends up on the floor.
There are very few things l wish l could go back in time for. But oh how l wish l could go back to Alexandria in the 90s and hear Eva Cassidy sing live. She was an absolute one of a kind. And l just can hardly imagine it. So lucky with have this and a few others.

That WOULD be amazing! The videos that I've seen from her (haven't seen them all yet) have been nothing short of amazing. So sad that she passed at such a young age.
I love watching your channel and hearing artists I love, and some whom I’ve never heard. This is my first time hearing Eva Cassidy. So incredibly moving! What talent she had to reach right in to the heart.

Hey Gabriele! Thank you so much for sticking with me on my videos! I do my best to make them "real" and fun. Thank God I don't take myself too seriously. I've entertained the idea of stopping this since I don't get all that many views, but comments like this keep me going. Thank you!
Hi Bob a great reaction to Eva singing "Autumn Leaves". I know that you like Lucy Thomas Did you know that she has done a tribute to Eva Cassidy covering her version of "over the rainbow ".Thought that you may like to listen to it.🤩🤩
Absolutely hauntingly beautiful. Eva has a good voice and expression. This is first time that I have heard her. Hopefully there will be some other reactions to her music.😊
I haven’t found one thing that Eva Cassidy recorded that I didn’t fall in love with. I also love your reactions! You don’t interrupt too often or talk over the music and/or singing. Bless you for introducing Eva to others. 😊❤
Holy s.....t that soul piercing voice!

Hi...again! LOL. I relistened to this song right after I recorded it. It was just too good to listen to just once.
Great reaction, Bob. This is my second favourite of her performances after "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Eva's way too early passing was such a loss to the world of music. I think the interlude where the piano came in was exceptionally beautiful❤❤ Happy Easter! Love from Norway 🇸🇯❤️🇺🇸🔥

This was just flat out beautiful! I'm so thankful that moments like this were recorded so that we can continue to enjoy her music. As always, thanks for the listen and a blessed Easter to you as well.
I heard that she was just told the day before that she had cancer; 3 months later, she was gone. She was singing for her life
Love your reactions. You are by far the most authentic. I watch a lot of reaction videos and you are my favorite. Keep doing what you are doing. Thanks.

Wow, THANK YOU!!!! You're really too kind. I just got done telling another listener that once in a while I think about stopping this, but it's people like you that keep me going. Thanks so much!!!!!
Beautifully expressed and sung to get the message across 😊
I heard an interview with the pianist from this recording. He was asked how he came up with his delicate right-hand solo. He said that Eva devised chord progressions that he'd never heard of, and that he was trying to do the simplest thing possible... keep from screwing up her performance.
According to Google: Jo Stafford (a pop vocalist) was the first to record 'Autumn Leaves and Edith Piaf sang the English and French versions on a radio program during Christmas Eve of 1950. However, the song didn't become a hit until pianist Roger Williams recorded it in 1955. ALSO: 'Autumn Leaves' is a popular song and jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945 with original lyrics by Jacques Prevert. An instrumental version by pianist Roger Williams was a number one best-seller in the US Billboard charts of 1955. Eva did a beautiful rendition of it!

Hi Janette!! My favorite Google fact checker! LOL I remember Jo Stafford! She sings a great version of You Belong To Me that my dad would listen to a lot. My only memory of this song is, like I said, Nat King Cole's version. It was played many times in my house.

This song is my favorite of hers. When Fall arrives, the ghost of this song visits me and hangs around me like a sad golden cape till Winter chases it away.

Hi Kestrelle, this was so absolutely beautiful. We are so lucky to have recordings like this available to listen to.
This one kills me every time. To me, this song elicits so much emotion
Truly a great singer, gone too soon. Eva Cassidy didn't want to be famous and turned down some record deals because they wanted to pick a single genre. She was made famous in the UK first when a large London radio station played her 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Great reaction.
This is one of Jesus's song birds. Heavenly sent!.

So happy that some of these recordings were saved.
Bob, so pleased that you reacted to this timeless song. I brought Eva to your attention when I eventually convinced you to react to Over the Rainbow. Pick any of her songs and your will not be disappointed. May I suggest Fields of Gold....

Hey Billy. I have to admit...that was quite a feat to get me to listen to Over The Rainbow. It isn't one of my favorite songs..but wow! Eva did an amazing job on it.
I believe the original singer was Edith Piaf who also does a great performance but I do love Eva Cassidy's version
One take, live, and she had to pay for the recording, the album came out two years after she died. Eva didn't live out the year this was recorded and couldn't get a record contract.....life isn't fair. To hear her full range check out the high energy *Blues in the Night*

Hi Joe. I know that song quite well. It's such a touching song, and not normally what I would put in the "Prince" category. Love it!! Once in a while I'll react to a song that I already know...so maybe.... ;)
Very nice.Eric Clapton also did a cover of this song.Thank you👏

Really? I'm going to have to check out out, for sure.
Did you check out her rendition of Cindy Lauper's time after time, or the mash-up between her and Angelina Jordan of Sting's Fields of Gold? Both great!
I’m not sure Babe Ruth could have hit one farther out of the park. She just sent that one out the stadium.
Her voice is breathtaking. Died of ovarian cancer way to young. Her brother recorded her last gig. I believe. Queen of emotional singing. Thank you for sharing her with those who didn't know.

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind She died of melanoma tho. Not her last performance. The last one was during some sort of memorial her loved ones organized for her, where she sang “What a wonderful word”. Gig wise: this video was recorded using all her savings and the footage from the first night was lost. The audio was kept tho.
