Excellent product report and they are one of my favourite carriers too - well deserved score - it really goes to show that personal proactive attention and service truly makes an immense difference particularly when you’ve experienced a major service failure worrying about where your luggage is and if you’ll ever be re- united with it again - kudos to the staff - and thanks once again

I've flown Royal Laurel Business roundtrip EVA LAX to TPE three times in 2023 (all 777's). Their crew, the service and dining is the best I've experienced. The pajamas and amenity kit are beyond fantastic.I have 6 pair now and shhhhhh, they make great gifts. Dining on EVA is next level good.

EVA has long been one of my favorite airlines, especially to and from Asia. I began flying with them shortly after they introduced Premium Economy, then called Evergreen Deluxe Class. Their Premium Economy is, for my money, best in the air. And Business Class is akin to First on any American carrier. Will always look for them when making reservations. And I agree with the reviewer, the coffee, freshly brewed, is terrific. Several years back I became ill enroute to Taipei from New York. After attending to me on a blanket on the galley floor and locating a doctor on board, they kindly moved me to Business for the remainder of the flight.

so happy kevin got a fantastic flight with them. nothing just i personally with my friends does think they treat passengers in differently and somehow unabashedly in every class, especially u are crowded in economy cabin lol. sending the pillow they forgot right on ur nose without any calling, like standard procedure for them

Great review, Kevin. Had the luxury to fly EVA Business on s 4 year old 787-10 from YVR to Teipei and it was an amazing experience. The seats were awesome and the food was way above average. EVA is one of my favorite airlines, I'd fly them every chance I get.

The Taiwanese are one of if not the friendliest, courteous, and efficient people (especially in service industries) I have come across. Japanese are only polite for show but the Taiwanese go out of their way to really help out

They do except for one Philippine Airlines which means if you are destination is Manila from Vienna you want to stick with Eva Air on the last leg of the trip otherwise you will be downgrading service on Taipei to Manila. Ask this to a Taiwanese or Hong konger traveler EVA Air or Philippine Airlines their answer is always going to be the Taiwanese

EVA air is by far my favorite airline. Even their economy is topnotch ❤️ Excited to try their business class in October ❤️

I’ve been binge watching all your reviews - and this was the first time I’m seeing EVA air (I had no idea it was a Taiwanese airline ; and never paid it any attention when it was listed on Traveloka) . These Taiwanese airlines are real sleeper hits - coming out of nowhere (or may I’m just oblivious) with superb quality and good prices

EVA is my favorite airline, world wide! I flew exclusively in EVA during the five years I worked and lived in Thailand...I flew Economy Plus, which was located in the nose of the plane...the food was really tasty and I loved the Haagen Dazs ice cream...Also noodles whenever hunger struck in between meals...The seat was large and comfy...I really miss EVA since retirement to the States...sigh.

Man, this is the first video I watch from you, and I absolutely loved it. I'm living in Taiwan, so Eva is my fav airlines. Flew in J with them on the B789 to Milan last Christmas (finally got good used of the miles) and I was blown away too. Still using the PJs at home haha. If only they increase the offer on the IFE and improve the app (which is quite slow and limited with functions), it would be just there at the top. But soft and hard products are just that good.

Another fantastic report on a really good product. Again done in your by now absolutely professional format, starting with the seat map, the route information and info on the airline. And a really nice , systematic and consecutive narrative.The por medaillions looked wonderful..and once i saw them i realized like struck by lightning what i have been missing for 10 years on my favourite Gulf airlines😂 To find La Grande Dame in Business Class seems unique to me..it is typically a First Class Champagne. Wines though were typical business class, like a 2015 Bordeaux. The more i watched it the more i thought: would like to try them. But then, at the end, came the total spoiler, which you had nicely hinted before: they locked these silly 787 windows..an absolut NO GO for me. I would never ever fly an airline knowing they do this. Did you ask for your window to be unlocked? It worked for me when i was once trapped on such a flight. Hope your luggage has arrived!

The 2nd half of the flight was in the dark so didn’t think to ask until too late. I normally film the final approach from the moment I can feel we start the descent. I wait five minutes after that and asked. I was told they’d be unlocked shortly. Again 11 minutes before landing I ask and they said yes they’re doing I now… which was true, but that’s when I learned it takes a solid 5 minutes to undim lol. Pretty sure if I’d asked (had I known) in the beginning of the flight for at least my windows to be unlocked 30 minutes out they would have obliged. And yes, got my two bags around 4 days after arrival. Both were sent via different routing so it was… ‘fun’… to watch it unfold lol. Thanks as always for watching 🙏🏻

Awesome video! This carrier is definitely on my wish list. China airlines, their competitor - also has a pretty spiffy looking JCL cabin. Far out, your meal service was absolutely first class! The 787 window tint differs from aircraft to aircraft. I noticed the older the plane is, the less effective is the tint.

Yeah there are two variants of the tint. The original tint didn’t block out heat very well, the newer one certainly does a better job at that.

After watching this I’m super excited to try out Eva Business on the 777 which I’m flying in three days from LAX to TPE

the eva crew really takes care of the bathroom too. on these long haul flights when service is over, i’ve experienced the crew to wipe down the bathroom after each passenger’s turn.

Perfect score! Yes, I also think EVA deserves it. I can’t help comparing it with Singapore Airline where cost cutting was highly visible. For example, SIA keep providing ‘hawker type’ of food fare which really come across as cheap albeit novel for those unfamiliar. The EVA cabin design certainly beats that in SIA where the need to contort one’s legs to lie flat is really unacceptable. Thanks for the review.

Use EvaAir from Sea via Taiwan via Cebu. 787-10 Sea to TPI and an A330 to CEB. With my girlfriend returned to visit my family in Washington state in business class we chose the center 2 seats as together. She flown in the Philippines but never the long international flights. She was so excited approaching Seattle as it very clear and Mt Rainer was visible.and she was crying. The flight attendant came and if she ok.and have her a hug, much more compassionate than the US domestic airlines where is always a drunk racist on board.

I agree EVA is fantastic. Here in YVR we did have the 787 but got switched out soon after for 777. I believe there was a backlash that premium economy is noticeably absent on the 787 and it's popular here. Also flight leaves early morning here and you just wanna sleep when get on board

Yeah, I honestly don't know why they eliminated Premium Economy. They were the first ever airline to offer it way back in the 90s and have always seemed to do really well with it- Their 64 seat PE cabin on some of their 777s has to be the largest PE cabin on any airline. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

The RC I’ve not been to, but there’s nothing about it that seems all of that impressive to me. For the Kempinski, I’ll recommend to you the same that I did to my family that recently went to Bali (and stayed at the Belmond)… goto the Kempinski for Lunch one day… have a walk around the resort, enjoy the beauty of it all. It is a stunning setting which is worth a visit, but if the Belmond is your vibe, then I’d probably spend my nights there. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Depends when you book, there is a specific window (don't remember exactly) for choosing your meal. My ticket was booked 360 days in advance so that window wasn't open yet. Thanks for watching 🩴

I flew on EVA almost exclusively for nearly 20 years and I still love them but with their business class is so much higher than other airlines I can't justify flying on them anymore. They are between $1000 to $2000 more than other airlines like ANA and Singapore.

To be honest, Qantas’ Vantage XL feel like a “Vantage M” compared to this one haha. Saw the Qantas J cabin last week (just walking through, flew in Eco) and it just looked so… small? Idk… Similar to how the Austrian J cabin just had a miniature-scale quality to it.

I’ve always had good food on EVA (in the air not in the lounges…). For the best product you’d just need to choose from any of their 787 destinations. EVA just added a 3rd daily to Saigon using a 787 (first time for Saigon…) perhaps they’ll do the same in Singapore… then it would be an easy choice haha.

Wow what a wonderful flight. I often fly EVA but on their 777 which was also good. The 787 has more cutting edges. EVA product is better than China Airlines as they offer better quality of food and amenities - China Airlines on the other hand has better interior. My new favorite is actually Starlux. It feels a step up above EVA- strong focus on Taiwanese food and the food quality is even better. Starlux crew also seems more passionate about what they do. Can't wait for your reivew on their long haul flight :)

Great trip report. That crab dish and the main dish looked delicious. I flew EVA J last month from Paris and the food was plain, not sure if the strikes disrupted catering service or something else. My main dish from meal order was a salmon fillet with squid ink pasta and beans. Tasteless, first time I used salt and pepper on the plane. I had better food on my Delta One flight to Amsterdam. Seems like a good deal with 78k lifemiles. How difficult was it to piece together the itinerary?

New to the channel but really enjoying your content, particularly the transparency & no sponsorship rule. You probably get asked this a lot, but what’s your process as to finding available business class fares using points/miles? Seems to be an especially challenging/complicated process. Seem to never find available rewards flights even 11 months in advance.

Thanks very much for subscribing. As for bookings it’s really just about prioritizing and knowing the time tables. The flights where timing is important are generally my flights to the US. Each airline has different release schedules so I’ll ‘plan’ out my trip first and then try to get those tickets the moment they’re released. The more nitty gritty of it I’ll be going into in a post on my Patreon in the coming months.

Great video. I flew from Seattle to Cebu-Mactan my first trip on Eva. Very sad trip. Had to dump my Filipina gf as she is pregnant with another US guy. Stayed month and enjoyed the flight. Had been using Singapore Air but had to get to SFO or LAX to get it. EVA leaves out of SEA so is better. Going to Thailand for a friend has cancer and his Thai wife is taking care of him. EVA Air here I come. The to Tampa FLORIDA to get my sailboat. Thanks.

Airlines- no matter where they are- always seem to be keenly aware of now what their customers want, but rather, what they can get away with. Unfortunately, the American/Euro carriers can just get away with a lot more and so they penny pinch to the extreme, a bit ironically because most living there have never flown the likes of EVA, CX, SQ, etc. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I was on EVA from IAH to TPE, a long-haul, the food on the outbound from IAH was just ok. Coming back from TPE to IAH, it was amazing. I guess I should blame the US catering services. Last year JAL LAX to BKK via HND was the same story- coming back food was so much better. Is this subjective, am I imigining things? What's your experience? Food on outbound US

Depends on the station and the number of international carriers they handle. LAX I'd expect to be decent, IAH not so much. That being said, the East Asian carriers have always been better from their hubs.

my issue with the airlines is that many FA have problem commanding english... and sometimes pretend they understand but not really... but yes, they r great in all aspects, as far as business class goes, they r the top 10 for me for sure

I live in a country where English is not widely spoken so perhaps I have a different tolerance level, but I rarely have any problems getting my points across in English on any carriers. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I just wish they had these seats on the triple 7. The outdated design on the 777s right now are pretty disappointing. Hopefully they stay competitive with starlux and update those seats.

Out dated compared to these seats, yes- but frankly, they're still great seats and are what many other carriers out there consider to be their flagship product. Thanks for watching 🩴

@@tfft That's true, but for me the deal breaker is the IFE on the triple 7. It's just small and feels old. Also, lots of other carriers are in the midst of updating their product, so hopefully EVA follows suit.

I am wondering why they sent you to the Austrian Lounge. The Vienna Lounge, which is also close to the D gates, is accessible to EVA business class travelers. The Vienna Lounge is excellent. I agree that EVA Air's business class is among the best available.

They made it seem as if I’d need to pass through some sort of security or immigration check in at least one direction if I went to the main lounge. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I was more preoccupied with my bags in the moment, just wanted a place to sit. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

They are correct, as I now recall. You would need to pass through passport control due to Vienna Lounge's location outside of the international zone. By the way, I enjoy watching your videos and concur with many of your points. Please carry on as you are. You are helping a lot of travelers like myself.

Might try EVA now....never on my radar.

@@tfft Book the Starlux first class to LAX, it seems include the private suite service which takes you from plane door to door

Funny Fact : 9.41% of EVA Air Stock is owned by STARLUX Airlines founder and he was the former boss of EVA Air and B777 pilot

Marginally better than SQ, far better than CX. I’ve just had a few CX flights yesterday and they seem to be 2 steps forward and 18 steps back at the moment. Quality of service on board has taken a massive hit.

Awesome truthfully report. however when opportunity present please experience Taiwan new carrier Starlux . Long distance flight. in my humble opinion Starlux had taken over BR as the best transpacific Business Class. in-flight amenities included free Wi-Fi wireless internet charging high end over night kits comfortable Mattress Comfortable Pajamas manually open and close enchanted pivacy door . not to mention exceptional service and in-flight foods selection. even butter are top item export from France. Hope BR discovered and help return your luggages in Taipei.

Maybe on domestic flights, but their international offerings look pretty competitive. Catering is often the biggest downfall

Unfortunately they don't serve the Grand Dame champagne anymore. On my flight from Amsterdam to Bkk I had another brand and and it tasted like cork. Probably a bad batch of champagne that was too old and not good anymore.
