Hi Pranjal. Thanks for such a detailed video. We must also take into consideration the manufacturing process of Lithium Ion Batteries. While running an EV vehicle there is no pollution but it had already made a lot of pollution during manufacturing of the Lithium Ion battery. CNG is better than EV and pure petrol. Milage=25 Km/Kg - 30 Km/Kg. Another eco-friendly option is Hydrogen Vehicle(Green Hydrogen).

brilliant video, you spoke of everything i had in my mind. hats off
The thing about EVs is that you’ll end up driving them a lot more in short trips then you’d have with a petrol car. Hybrid breakdowns will take up double the time to find the fault and double the cost to repair. Choose EV.
I think you also need to consider major repairs and parts replacements in petrol car and importantly assuming petrol price will remain constant is a big mistake, just in recent past we’ve paid up to 125 ₹ per liter and probability of it going even higher is there. Like wise even the probability of battery price reduction by 50% or more is very possible. I don’t say it’s accurate but it’s a probability as you were predicting 😊

Pranjal has no clue about that . There is more to batteries than most of the bloggers have mentioned in the videos . I have not seen a video where the blogger mentions the details I am going to mention First exhaust the warranty. Either 8 years or 1,60,000 kilometers. Entire battery does not go wrong immediately after these limits . From the empirical data batteries have 13 plus years of service life Secondly the battery is made of individual cells and all of them don’t go bad all at once . A few cells can be replaced and battery is new . This can be done infinitely at a much reasonable cost .
Exactly, every one is ignoring the battery replacement cost. It's good to see you mentioned. Also ev is not that environment friendly until the power used for charging is from renewable sources.

@@aruni100 Yes I totally agree about the mileage part, you cant use your car in sub 60 speeds on Highway. If you see mileage of Honda City Hybrid is around 19kmpl on Highway and 25kmpl+ on city and highway combined, this mileage is excellent when compared to competition. And mind that I am talking about real life mileage not ARAI claimed figures. Now regarding your claim that theyre "complex macines" I agree they might sound complex buy they're not really that complex average maintainance costs have been found to be actually lower than that of petrol cars and hybrid too. Let me explain, they have a ICE that is conventional but run on low RPM throughout the sub 60 speeds (in the city) that means a very consistent performance and power is being drawn from it that actually means low wear and tear with minimal damages to the engine. Now coming to the EV part the battery is smaller than the batteries provided in a pure EV car. In the event of a battery faliure (happens atleast after 8 yrs of use) the cost of replacing battery of a hybrid drivetrain would be actually just half or one-third of what it may cost in a pure EV.

Simple point is if upfront cost is less, we can go for these options. currently hybrids have come at a hefty price and is not a ev alternative. Also, I believe, battery technology will change in next 3-4 years with hybrid batteries coming up (solid state + lipo4) which will remove the range anxiety while maintaining the cost. Hybrid cars are to late to enter the market and their cost is exorbitant. So choice is simple, low km run => petrol for next 5 years , else ev.
What about CNG, apparently that also gives 20km/L average

dear Pranjal,, your analysis is really pranjal-crystal clear,,,,thanx
Thank u for suggestions 😮🎉❤
You forgot to miss out the point that the hybrid cars are very impractical for long family trips because they use the boot space to place the battery - the toyota hyryder top model just has 250 litres of bootspace which is very less compared to rivals like creta which gives more than 400 litres.
PK your videos never disappoint us... Always a different view point ❤️
Eye opener video,thanks.
Bahut badhiya Pranjal bhai!! I love the stats. Please make one on CNG too.
Nice analysis bro. However, I've been doing my research here in Hyderabad for EV cars quite long period (since 2017 Mahindra verito) Apart from range anxiety and time charging time, there is another point the batteries need to be replaced every 4years not 7yrs not 10yrs. Life span is only 4yrs. And yes batteries cost 40% of the car cost. Hybrid seems like a good option. We could it after market as well. Available between 60 to 70k.

If battery lifetime is 4 years by your logic every nexon ev that is on road will be dead in 2024. Lol. In technology Verito Ev battery tech is different than Nexon EV which is way better LFP which will last atleast 1 Lakh or 8 years you also get warrenty so no need to worry. Your agrument goes out the window with this single point of 8 years warrenty by tata and other EV providers.

One important parameters you missed is resale value. ICE in future might not get expected resale value as the trend would be more towards ev cars. Also EV cars technology are evolving fast . The ev car now also might not have the resale demand in future as the technology wise it might be far outdated. So please compare these parameters as well..

Ev cars resale value will be like IPhone only because battery percentage will play main factor for resale value.

Nice comparison and case explanation.
You are highly knowledgeable person sir ❤️🙏
Some more points: By the time an ev is manufactured, co2 emission in battery production loads more which is not environment friendly. Depreciation value of ev is loads higher. Disadvantage of hybrid car is low boot space compared to petrol car, battery occupies more boot space and lagguage carrying capacity decreases, especially we can't fit large size bag

This is simply not true. IF you read the carbon footprint report by Volvo (earlier a big ICE OEM, considered by almost all auto heads to be one of the safest cars and a company that really puts their customer first), they clearly show that EVs are much more climate friendly over the life of the car. I can't put links in KZread comments but you can search for them. This study by Volvo led them to completely shift their strategy and they are now committed to selling only fully electric cars by 2023!!!

Neatly explained, Even I had the same feeling when it's battery warranty and replacement cost is equivalent to petrol car. Thanks pranjal I'm looking for new hybrid model options only.
Pranjal Kamra ji I really appreciate you and your team's research on this topic and find the hybrid cars a best option but you ignored a fact that battery manufacturing also pollute environment to much and will finally lead to aggregately more pollution than a petrol car. but really liked your content a lot thank you for making such good videos
@pranjal…I’ve a small query in hybrid cars. So far what I’ve known that hybrid only works when running at speed of 30~40kmph(irrespective to weight) and runs on petrol when the speed is higher than 40. Is it right or I’ve been wrongly informed till date. If I’m correct then hybrid is just a gimmick to make people fool to charge them higher prices. Can you please clarify this?

Thanks for the great insights; however, the hybrid cars are also further divided into two types: 1) Plug 🔌in Hybrid : Where you can also use charging stations to charge battery or else battery gets charged partially by the car engine on the go. 2) Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): Where there is no provision of charging through charging stations and charging is performer only through car engines. Just giving another insight on this..
Thanks Brother....Acchhhaaa Samjhaya....👍
What are your thoughts on ethanol to be blended with petrol, will that reduce costs?
Thanks for this detailed explanation. However, there is one more point on EVs. Few states provide subsidies to encourage EVs.

Sir kya CNG car can be better option
Drive feel can be better in an ev due to lower engine noise, and higher torque compared to a car with similar power and pickup in petrol / hybrid. We have solar panels at home car runs for free
Hi Pranjal, What about the maintenance cost comparison for HYBRID CAR??
Best explanation sir thanks a lot
You are absolutely right but there is a catch, for pure hybrid you have to spend around 15-26Lakh at least. No option around 8-10Lakh (for those jo Tiago wali range ke buyers hain).
