In this Age of Pop Crap Triumphant Everywhere, how refreshing to see the great Haitink conducting this orchestra of beautiful youngsters in the glorious music of Bruckner. Refreshing and encouraging to think that not all young people are addicts of Pop Crap.

A truly great conductor with a truly great orchestra. The British have denied their youth access to this magnificent band, shame on them

musicologists have always been amazed confounded with Anton Bruckner and how his music is so deep and tremendously sophisticated when he was a humble simple minded country bumpkin. the music required someone with a very developed intellect to be able to compose and from all outward signs Buckner didn't exhibit any of that. to this day he's considered a mystery.

Mit den Sinfonien von Anton Bruckner wird die Ewigkeit, das Göttliche hörbar... Es tut gut, dieses mit jungen Menschen zu erleben, geführt von Maestro und Grandseigneur Bernard Haitink!

Haitink, sadly, died just a few weeks ago. A great loss to the world of classical music. But what a wonderful video this is! As someone else said here, a great combination of youth and experience. Such energy, and such beautiful, beautiful playing in the pianissimo passages. This is the best Bruckner 7 I've ever heard, let alone had the privilege of watching through such perfect filming. It was great to see a capacity audience too, and to hear and watch the richly deserved standing ovation at the end. Thank you so much for maing this available to us all.

At the end, Haitink thinks "OMG, another bunch of flowers! Who can I offload this to?".

Haitink’s reaction to the premature applause at 1:09:49 is priceless.

this symphony seems designed to break ( open) the ❤. his timing and rhythm was unsurpassed even by Beethoven. this is may be the only famous symphony one could dance to...not all the time but often enough

I wonder what would have happen to the field (discipline) and arguably the richness of Humanities, if such experiences and inspiration were never put forth in writing and towards composition.

Did not see Kai Frömbgen on the oboe. I do not think he was still in the demographic range of the Youth Orchestra.

I generally feel 'comparisons are odious' but, with Bruckner, and particularly no 7, I just cannot listen to anyone but Celibidache!

I can barely hear it. Not properly mic-d for recording, no doubt. What I can hear sounds just fine. A tad slow, maybe. I love how the players are so into it. The violinists are so animated! Well, more than a tad slow. Granted, Haitink's much older than his great recordings.

an orchestra of this size can take slower tempi, because the sonorisch sound can handle it.

A wonderful performance. The European Union Youth Orchestra, in excellent form. Yes, they are exuberant as youth are. They will not be so animated when they take their seats in the great European orchestras. They are so blessed to have worked with one of the great conductors, also a great Brucknarian, Bernard Haitink.
