Ukraine’s performance at Eurovision last night was simply visceral. This tableau at end evoked so many associations in a single image. For me, it brought back memories of us packed tightly like sardines, sleeping on the floor of a bomb shelter during the Bosnian war in the ’90s.

Croatia, Ireland and Serbia! My top 3 today and they all did it! 😎 I also liked Slovenia, but I think "Baby & Bambie" were outstanding! Love from Germany ❤‍🔥(Edit: "Mama Spaghetti" 😁)

My random thoughts: 1. I liked the opening act from last year better. I much prefer when countries showcase their cultures, and Hardkiss ate. Plus, the sequence with the kids was heartwarming. Sweden has done this putting together of popular Eurovision songs together before. Yes, it's trendy, but it's too formulaic and unoriginal. 2. I'm in Ukraine, so I can't vote for them, but I'm utterly impressed by the performance and visuals. Moved me to tears. 3. Ireland is not my cup of tea, but the visuals are stunning. Her vocals are also on point. It's impressive the way she goes from almost a screechy high note to a soft, lower register. 4. Croatia was one of my favorites even before the competition, and it did not disappoint. I love his outfit. Looks like a piraate rocking out. Some of the lyrics are hilarious though: meow cat, please meow back, lmao. My 5 year old would say that. 5. I actually liked Moldova, both as a song and as a performance. I would've preferred it to Slovenia, but I'm not surprised Slovenia got in with all the Balkan countries participating. 6. The people in the arena were loud during a majority of the songs, including Moldova's. So, them being into Australia's performance doesn't indicate much beyond the fact that people were there to have a good time. 7. It's nice to see Lithuania embrace their language once again, and as an electronic music fan, I'm thrilled with all the choices this year! I think this is the first time I can remember that we had so much electronic music at Eurovision. 8. The sound engineers did a great job! 9. Suzanne is always cracking me up with her ducky's rankings/fourth places. She can never stick to the plot, lmao.

2013 in Malmo all balkan countries didn't make it into the final, in 2024 the ex Yu states cameback for a vengeance. 🇭🇷 🇷🇸 🇸🇮 for the win!!!

Thank you all who voted for iolanda! So proud of Portugal! Please vote for iolanda in the final! This is a SONG contest, but it seems more like a "who puts the more fireworks or strange things" contest! People are mesmerized by the lights, the stage full of things to complement the act. They don't apreciate the melody, the quality of the song itself. We brought a masterpiece act (song and dance) we don't need "fireworks". It's sad that the contest is more about the visuals than the song. But we're in the final, without the votes of Spain,France,Switzerland,Belgium! 🙌

I am generally happy with the outcome... Yay Baby Lasagna! Croatia and Ukraine were my top 2 and I was very glad Cyprus made it. But, I would very happily switch out Ireland and Finland for Poland, Australia, or Azerbaijan. I did enjoy a silver haired Johnny Logan singing Euphoria!

I did sort if like Australia this evening but sorry Ireland wiped the floor with Azerbaijan and also Poland, I like her in particular however poorer vocals in the lead up meant Poland didn't make it. Slovenia, Ireland, Cyprus and Serbia just sang better and meant Poland had no chance

I'm quite sure that Slovenians and especially Croatians don't like Serbians at all. I don't know if they will stick together at eurovision, but their people was subjugated and killed by Serbians... And it was only 30 years ago. Maybe they don't hold the grudge in a song contest

And as far as I know before independence Serbian people owned territories in Croatia, getting richer and richer. But this could come from a Croatian point of view, don't remember. I think that Slovenia must have been luckier, I don't know. And I really hope that today things have changed and all those people and countries live in peace with no grudges. But it seems quite recent to me, not sure that it's that simple

I wish my country Croatia wins. Do I think it will win? In order to win, there must not be a significant difference between public vs jury votes. Now, sure, Croatia might be 1st when it comes to public votes. But jury? I cannot see it happening. Jury votes might primarily go to Ukraine, Switzerland and Italy. In that case, I do not see my Croatia winning. Same with Kaarija last year, 1st in public and 4th in jury votes and simply could not win. When Loreen dominated in jury votes, at that point, it was all over, there was no need for public votes at all.

I'm not sure about Ukraine doing well with the jury. They haven't been in the Top 3 of jury votes since 2016, I think, and I don't think this year will be any different. Juries still largely prefer pop.

CROATIA! BL is the only one of them all who is the author and performer of his own song. He is the most charismatic performer. He has the original text. Looking at the other songs, his is the most recognizable. His energy is contagious. The audience sang and danced with him from start to finish. With the song Rim tim tagi dim performs for the first time as a performer. It's his first performance! In the end, he wrote the lyrics for the album of the band Mono Inc., "Ravenblack", which reached the first place in the official German listenership chart, and Marko received an award for this achievement.

As a Croatian, I was kind of expecting for Marko to qualify, no surprise there. However, I am glad that Luxemburg qualified, Tali was great, one of my favourites.

The performances by Ukraine and Ireland are tailored for television, while Croatia's performance is for the stage. UA and IR performances are captivating and make you want to watch them again and again, unlike CR's, which is a copy-paste from the national selection and lacks interest.

Bambie know how to sing, scream is a vocal technique and without proper training it can damage the voice. But since Bambie switched from scream to the soft voice, they trained in this pretty well. Yes it may sound unusual to the common listener of Eurovision, but scream, growl and other extreme techniques are very familiar to those who listen metal, goth etc. music. Many of the metal vocalists are better trained then average pop singer, check Floor Yansen from Nightwish, Sharon from Within Temptation and so on, because in metal you cannot hide behind the effects, poor vocal won't stand a chance it this genre. And thanks for adding Ukraine to top-5 ;)

Sorry. Not on this performance. Ireland and Australia surprised me on negative way. Very disappointed. But Ukraine and Portugal, absolutely amazed me. What a vocals, was really peaceful and beautiful . Love it. Best luck for this 2

Overall it was a good semifinal and I'm happy with the 10 finalists. The ones that stood up more for me were 1. Ireland 2. Finland 3. Ukraine.

Devastated for Australia but so happy for Ireland breaking their NQ drought♥️🇮🇪

Sad about Australia, but understandable. Stage production for all looked great, but once again, there were audio issues with the backing tracks being way too loud. It's fine when it's more acoustic or low key, but once the songs get sufficiently moving, you can barely hear the live vocal above the din.

My top 10 qualified! I was so happy for Slovenia to qualify. Sad that Luna didn't sing as well as she can.
