Yes, but still, could you 100% guarantee and predict at that moment who exactly would be the winner? I doubt. With the previous voting system it could have been obvious, but after the rules were changed noone can really know for sure until the very last moment.

I'm from Ukraine. But i really wanted to Great Britain win. All of us know who is musical winner. We did not accept this victory with such joy as it would have been from an objective vote. But we felt the support of a lot of people.. We are grateful for your support. I hope this is a gesture of kindness, not pity. Immediately after the victory, air raids began throughout Ukraine. This has not been the case for several days. I live in one of the safest places in Ukraine. But we don't sleep because of the constant noise of air battles right now. Someone is very angry because of such support.... Thank you !! :)

I'm inclined to agree with you J & in addition the UK won the jury vote, which was nice, but there were quite a few countries that didn't give Sam anything, so second overall is pretty great, especially remembering last year! Please DO NOT think of it as a pity vote, that's not right, I liked the Ukraine entry, last years was excellent too, & although I'm not a rap fan, it is a great song, so on balance, it is a true winner ;-). I'm so very sorry to hear you are suffering new air raids (I can't believe I just said air raid about a European country!!!!!) this is total madness & it must & WILL end soon. It may be of no comfort to you, but just think of Germany after WWII, they came back bigger & better than ever & you WILL do the same. Love from me in Ireland x.

It's then also OK to say that Ukraine's entry was really good & catchy in itself & that it may have been helped along a little by a vote of solidarity. UK also great, but was still suprised about the voting. Saw them end top 5 but more so 5 than 2 Shame about The Netherlands just missing the top 10. It was always going to be hard being sandwiched between 2 major favorites. Spain killed it, so people probably missed the first half of S10's song. But still happy a Dutch song got that much love. And of course congrats to Ukraine! a worthy winner anyway. it's a great song with great lyrics. Not mad it won

Eurovision changed/replaced votes for 6 "National juries" (Poland, Romania, Azerbaidjan, Georgia, Montenegro, San Marino). Despite the fact the Eurovision organizer said, during the live broadcasting, that there were some technical issues, our National Broadcaster - TVR said there wasn't any issue. So our anchor wasn't allowed to announce, live, the jury's votes. Azerbaidjan national Broadcaster said it was advised to give 12 points to Ukraine and, when it refused, its anchor wasn't also allowed to announce the results, live. Our mass media wrote that Romania's jury gave 12 points to Rep. of Moldova but Eurovision Committee passed those 12 points to Ukraine... Our jury's members: 1. Sanda, Ladosi (contestant of Eurovision in 2004) 2. Luminița Anghel (contestant of Eurovision in 2005) 3. Ovi Jacobsen (contestant of Eurovision in 2010 and in 2014) 4. Liviu Elekes (composer, producer) 5. Mihai Pocorschi (singer, composer, producer) Our jury's votes: Rep. of Moldova - 12 points Greece - 10 points Poland - 8 points Netherlands - 7 points Azerbaijan - 6 points Australia - 5 points Italy - 4 points Spain - 3 points Finland - 2 points Lithuania - 1 point TVR is waiting for an answer regarding those "facts" - as well as all the National Broadcasters from the other 5 countries... In the meantime, our Minister of Culture addressed a protest to EBU. Can you also ask EBU some questions regarding this issue? For ex. Why does Eurovision Committee maintain the 50/50 (public/national jury) voting system, if it doesn't recognize jury's votes? For my part, the juries should be taken into account only in the Semis and not in the Final. I have no problem with Ukrainian winner, but it is not right for EBU to "push" our jury and our National Broadcaster "to break" its rules. And when our National Broadcaster didn't want to break the rules, EBU itself "changed" the rules during the live Contest. Being under those circumstances, I think both: our national jury and the Ukrainian "winner" would feel foolished, respectively embaressed bc. of the final fake result. P. S. Best regards from Romania!🇷🇴 I voted only once in the 2nd Semi and once in the Final - both times for Australia.

I''m getting grumy now. I don't see many posts congratulating The Kalush Orchesra personally for their song, it's always just Ukraine genrically. Now, try to imagine you have no clue who made this, where it came from. Do you like the song? Does it catch your attention? Do you want to dance and sing the bits you learn even if you don't understand the words? OK, if you don't like rap, that's cool. For me, yes, yes, yes. I want to hear it sung in a translation so the message is spread easily. It is a brilliant cross genre song. So some only voted to support the nation, they don't understand the passion behind true ESC mega fans, let it go. And tell me one person who does not want that hat and those fab outfits!!! I say thank you to Stephanie for making a beautiful boy who used his talent to spread joy.

Message to the public.........this is a song contest, not a political one! Question is, if the public decided to vote for Ukraine before the contest started, was there a need to even stage the contest?. Public please, keep politics out of Eurovision.....music should prevail NOT political view points. I live in Australia, and supported Australia, but I am gutted for UK.

I disagree...if the main message of Eurovision is one of support for each other, unity through music, then why not vote for the country who right now is fighting for their actual lives and right to exist as a country? With so many non-Ukranian delegations flying Ukrainian flags, and the betting odds for the Ukraine win...it was inevitable. The moment that Russia got kicked out of the EBU, me and my friend said "Ukraine is going to win this year." Surprisingly, the betting odds were right on this year. In all honesty, I'm glad for them....the song is great and a banger regardless of the result. Kalush Orchestra deserves the win!

@@rexation8952 You see this is the type of response which indicates the public is not listening! We are already sending a message to Russia through sanctions that what they are doing is NOT right......this is a song contest, not a platform to send a political message. Music should always prevail at Eurovision, and we should support the blood, sweat and tears that each of these performers put in to do the best that they can with a special opportunity bestowed on them. THIS IS A SONG CONTEST FOR GOODNESS SAKE!. I live in Australia and I love my country, but the UK deserved to win based on musical talent.....not because a country is at war. I support Ukraine wholeheartedly, and I hate Russia for what they are doing, but this is a bloody song contest.

In my opinion, Serbia, Poland, and Portugal were very good songs and they deserved way more points than they got and definitely a better classification. Serbia was very original and Poland had a beautiful male vocal performance and Portugal was such a feel-good song with amazing harmonies, even Laura Pausini and Mika commented on it.

"Anything can happen" ... Ukraine, you have received 439 points ... no it can't EBU - At the start of the televote reveal, reset the scoreboard so that only the ultimate top 10 are shown in jury point order. Quietly reveal the countries in places 11-25, without their score. Then go through that top 10, announcing their televotes. That way, no-one can work out the points left, you never have to announce humiliating low or zero public votes, and you would also save time spent reading out the minor televotes. We can digest them at the end of the contest.

Big if. Ukraine would definitely still have done well in the televote as it’s still a very good song. Also there’s no way of knowing where the juries or televoters might have voted… no one expected France to flop as badly as it did, Moldova did spectacularly well in the televote. It’s such a strong year that you couldn’t predict it.

@@axwleurope9519 not necessarily but it’s Eurovision… almost every year there are multiple songs that can win and often the song that does is one of the more… left wing choices. You could just as easily argue that Toy was not a “winning song” in 2018 it was an amazing song but you could say Fuego was better as an overall package (similar to Spain this year) You have to remember Ukraine was a favourite before all this kicked off.

Ukraine was not a winning song, they mainly won bc of whay is happening there, which is unfair bc this is a musical festival. Eurovision didnt allow politics to interfer when israel won/participate, nor when Iceland showed the Palestinian flag. If the votes of Ukraine were restribuated by the % of votes of every country, Spain would have won. Anyways Free Ukraine and Free Palestine.

I really dislike political voting. We all know that Ukraine won symphony votes. My votes go to Serbia, Belgium, Sweden & Moldavia. Spanish performance was nothing more then a dance and sound that we/I have heard millions of times (boring and nothing new). Don’t take me wrong I love Latin dances. British guy was annoying and had a huge similarity to David Bowie’s song Space Oddity. Again, I love David Bowie - this guy was a very annoying copy.
