That's because for the firts time almost of the europeans were with Portugal. This was not only a Portugal's victory but also a Europe's Victory with a song for all people with refine taste!

lol. I must admit, when they were halfway through announcing the semi-final 1 qualifiers, Australia and Finland were still yet to be announced and even though I'm from Australia, I was at that stage where I actually wouldn't mind if Australia didn't qualify because I adored Finland's "Blackbird" so much from the very beginning I heard it.

Sean's reaction here was amazing. Exactly my reaction when it happened. Congrats Salvador!

Happiest reaction ever at 8.27😉 but I also would be happy to see Italy in second place instead of Bulgaria. Italy won the press award, Portugal the composers and commentators award. Italy was original and 100% Italian, Bulgaria not.

Lunaverse 루나 Story of Australia in Eurovision : for the 60th eurovision, the host country invited Australia to participate this song contest because it supports this show since 80's. Then time passed, the next host country invited it again because he was a great contestant and it continue the next year. So now, Australia is an "official" participated country for Eurovision. It have to wait to get the official invitation from the new host country. ^^

one of the funniest moments for me was when it was down to just Bulgaria and Portugal, Bulgaria got their points and I'm pretty sure for a minute there, they thought they won....Kristian got all excited and started crying (i think?) but then it was like, "Um you do know Portugal hasn't received their points yet right? which means their score was higher than your's and since they were already in the lead after jury, it means THEY won?" And then apparently Kristian and Bulgaria were bitter about it, but hey....don't celebrate til its over, man.

yah indeed. Hugee success for a 17 year old, he not only achieved best place of Bulgaria ever but also the 2ND highest score in the History of Eurovision! i believe 530 was the highest record held by Jamala last year and he broke it ! so why do you have to caree if you win or not. You will save more money for something else . Eurovision is costly, keep your economy intact . Kristian won in our hearts

They did everything to make this weak Bulgar win, got 25th running. Bulgarian favor was sick. Bravo for Salvador. He was 11 and won. And no one favored him. Bulgar was horrible, childish voice and out of tune.

He had so childish voice in this age. Australian guy is in this age but his voice is much better and much more mature. And I know a lot of younger people with much better voices. talking about age all the eime is ridiculous. This Bulgar was the most favored person in ESC history.

Come on, don't ignore the obvious, they shouted for Portugal, they even cried, the crowd in the arena was shouting Portugal. They won. Bulgaria had such a good result, but wasn't the best. There is nothing bad about second place, look at Italy, deserved it much more in my opinion, but was hyped to early.

Because it was a victory for music, not for mainstream sounds, they nearly all could feel that something special happened in ESC history. Portugal has no lobby, small country, sending a jazzy song in Portuguese. Wow!

Because for most of them the Portuguese song was their favourite song and Portugal won! A great voice in a middle of simplicity: small stage, no lights, no dancers, nothing...just him and his voice, which is completly different from the mainstream musics we listen all day!

This voting reveal doesn't work very well in my judgement. "The country that received the nth high score ..." is too clunky. Neither of the Sobrals could understand what was going on. Will we never have another moment like kzread.info/dash/bejne/gX-WudWagcWXYdo.html ?

+calcio tips Salvadors video was released after Italy, so you can't compare it. There was so much hype around Italy being the winner for so long. The song was a hit in Italy, so it says nothing.

I'm so sad. I really really wanted Bulgaria to win!!! I'm so so so sad for Kristian.

I guess the saddest place to end up is really second. That means you were *this* close to win, but not quite and it can get really frustrating. That being said, Bulgaria was fantastic this year and the points show it: they ended up less than 150 points behind the winner. On the other hand, they surpassed the third by almost 250 points. From Moldova (3rd) to Italy (6th), there was a difference of 40 points. That means Bulgaria was within striking distance of Portugal all the time and completely ahead of this lot: both 1st and 2nd places towered above the entire competition! All respect be given to Kristian!

let them have it, after 50 years . Even if Bulgaria did that song last year, it still wouldn't win because people vote for countries and not for the best songs. and "Bulgaria " is very unpopular country. This Bulgar was the most favored person in ESC history. And stop talking nonsense. Salvador won because he is amazing artist. No one favored him, his running was 11 nad he won with big advantage, was first by jury and televoting. He made arleady history, its first Portugal winning in ESC, I am so proud of him.
