Humorists? You mean comedians. Yeah they are comedians and they never, ever expected this to actually make it to the real song contest but it was televoted to represent the country at last. We were going to lose anyways so why not laugh at the same time?

Spain sent the best prank in history to eurovision!

It was a fully joke entry. Hardcore eurofans in ESP absolutely hate it (I actually love it lmao) but thanks to the nature of the entry (also the performer is a famous Spanish comedian whose real name is David Fernández) ESC 2008 had a pretty good rating compared to other years. Lyrics must be put in context, so I will explain some parts of them while roughly translating them: ¡Perrea! ¡Perrea! Why don't you shut up? (¿Por qué no te callas?) is a famous phrase, uttered by Juan Carlos to Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez at the 2007 Ibero-American summit when Chávez was repeatedly interrupting PM Rodríguez Zapatero's speech. The rest is chorus and verses already mentioned above. As someone said, indeed the lyrics were modified before ESC to make it a bit more 'politically correct' yet they managed to explicitly mention the PM, the opposition leader, the King and some famous people's names lol

Also it was just about taking the piss. The following year people wanted to send a pathetic yellow press commentator. Fortunately the idiot was disqualified because she tried to participate with an older than allowed song.

Thanks for the, well, shoutout (kinda). This was an example of a great funny and troll song. The lyrics I think were changed because this should be kind of a parody on some politicians or something like that. Anyway check then translated lyrics and the backround hehe 😅
