Year 2000 was the year I found Eurovision. I was 11 years old and my parents recorded it on video. I still know snipets of al these songs, and I play “Don’t play that song again” and “My star” for my kid. What a YEAR it was.

The early 2000s was Eurovision's absolute low point in terms of song quality. Only reason to think otherwise is nostalgia.

The Netherlands, Estonia, Russia, Cyprus, Switzerland, Croatia, Sweden, Finland, Turkey and Ireland were in my top ten then.

I thought that the Maltese woman was in her 40s as well. The French girl was merely 20 and I would swear that she was approaching 30. What was it? Bad make-up. Bad lighting. Bad haircuts. Most of these songs would've been a semi fodder nowdays. I mean, imagine comparing these songs / performances with some of the worst ones in the last year. Even Montenegrin Heaven sounds like... well, heaven, compared to many of these.

I still don't understand how Danmark won. The song was not so bad, but there were better. And those guys singing like during Brazilian depilation or at least balls hair removal.

Probably the worst year of the contest......

This was a bad year. For once I loved the UK song....best one since 1997 in my humble opinion. However the winner deserved it....brilliant song.

Russia, Turkey, and Cyprus were good that year but other than that, this was the absolute WORST year for Eurovision in the 2000's!

Only songs I find decent : Germany, Croatia Romania, Austria and Russia. The rest range from dull to weak to practically inaudible

1995 1996 and 1998 were good years ! On the contrary I would add 2003 and 2004, which even if kind of stronger than the editions before, were still weak

1999 and 2000, 2 bad years of eurovision in my opinion. 2002 was worse. Just no decent songs at all. Again, my opinion

Yes, because when Dana International won the contest 2 years before, there was absolutely no one who objected to her identifying as a woman.
