1981 is the only year in Eurovision's history where there's not a single bad song, nor can you call a distinct winner. Israel, UK, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium are all winners if they would have competed in any other year. Love also Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Denmark... Best Eurovision song level of all times.

Again thankyou so much for commenting :) I was super surprised by how good this year was, besides Israel, UK, etc. I wasn't super familiar with it, but overall i think it's a really good one!

Really agree with some of your great comments on the video. My feelings : Germany Johnny Blue was an outstanding composition ( both music and lyrics) and very well performed by Lena Valiatis , particularly good backing singers and orchestration. I love the Israeli entry too - the voices ( especially the duets with falsetto) and the energy made it special. 'Io senza te' ( Switzerland) is the best of Peter , Sue and Marc's Eurovision entries. It is very pretty and well performed - but I can understand that the slow harmonic rhythm feel would not please everyone . ' Making your mind up' UK - the concept was good , the song certainly had energy and it just hit the right mood for that moment in time, even if it is not the greatest Eurovision song.

Just a little comment from a Dutch guy on the 18th placed Dutch entry. In the Dutch national final it was kind of a surprise that this song won, beating the favourite Maribelle (eurovision 1984) with Marionette (listen to that one. Missed chance!). But to be honest. The genre of het is een wonder was very populair back in 1981 due to the fact that these kind of songs were played a lot on Dutch pirate radio stations at the time. So Dutch cheesy it was indeed but loved by a certain part of the Dutch population. Same counts for Sieneke in 2010. Still nowadays the song is more a forgotten Dutch entry compared to others and most Dutch people wanted Maribelle to go at the time

I think the dutch song is even worse if you speak dutch, maybe that's why it really is your last place. Since I barely understand the lyrics I don't get so overwhelmed by the cheese ahaha

Aldri i livet is very monotonic plus Finn Kalvik sings with lisp pronunciation. All this plus very uninteresting melody makes for a awful pack. And Cyprus above Switzerland is crazy in my opinion.
