Eurorack Performance Mixer Techniques // After Later Audio Nightlife Mixer Series (Bartender & more)

Музыка

Join me for lots of patches going from the basics of mixing techniques (applicable to audio in general, but specifically Eurorack modular synthesizers) through to more advanced audio routing and creative options for audio processing.
While this video is a demo on the Nightlife Mixer Series from After Later Audio (Eurorack modules, Bartender, Barback, Cast Iron, Mingles, USB 2 Channel Interface & the SEND VCA) the techniques are applicable to lots of modules, so give the patches a go with things you have too.

    I don’t know why I love the flamingo so much, but I do. Amazing video, really showing how important mixing can be for so many reasons while showing off this new kit. Thanks Ben!

    Thank you, really appreciate that. I'm definitely focused on the learning, techniques and patch ideas that people can hopefully try on anything. I'm looking I get to do that while trying and demoing new things. The Flamingo was good fun :) I've seen friends just use talk radio put into the system before but trails cams I really like for the noise, odd animal noises. Anything chopped up short and percussive enough seems to work.

    Just got this to use with my live set up as well as home. Having the cue is amazing. My only gripe is I didn't realize you could only send to 1 effect at a time. Running the fx into the channel and being able to send one effect to the other is great semi work around tho!

    To the latter point if it's one effect into the other why not just patch the two FX modules one into the other? If you wanted to vary that over time in the performance you could alter the second effects dry/wet mix level over time.

    shame you can only have one send at a time and the other deal breaker for me is tiny pots. still very cool set up. I am still waiting for the perfect stereo mixer. there seems to always be a couple things missing. doh

    I don't think the "perfect" stereo mixer is going appear. As that's simply different for everyone. I hope you find yours in time though. I think format specific too, Eurorack at 3U just doesn't offer much vertical space to work with for channels. Did you see the Cast Iron (I do this with a Stereo Strip a lot) trick for routing to 2 FX and once and modulating between the destinations? Maybe something like that alongside this or other mixers will get you closer.

    Nice.. have been using an Expert Sleepers ES-9 with AUM on the iPad for flaexible FX and recording options but missing the immediacy of an Analogue mixer... Have just picked up one of these to go in the case

    Excellent rundown, thanks @DivKid! I am so close to pulling the trigger on the Bartender -- I agree, no such thing as the "perfect" 3u mixer, but this is pretty close! Quick question: can you use the stereo and mono outs simultaneously? Rephrase: if you switch a track to "mono" mode, does it remove that track(s) from the stereo main output? ie, if I want to use the first two channels as 4 mono ins, then the last two channels as stereo ins (with the switches set accordingly), would I then effectively have two separate output busses? Or would all my mono tracks also be coming out of the stereo output, but panned? (Sorry, I seem to be having a hard time getting my question across... hopefully one of those attempts does the trick ;)

  • @DivKid

    @DivKid

    2 ай бұрын

    No it doesn't the output section is independent on the channel switches. The channel switches just dictate the behaviour of the channel. So on the channel switch to stereo for the two inputs to treat as left and right. Switch to mono and those two inputs sum together on the channel. Then the output section is independent, the mono out just sums the stereo down to mono and you can patch both out at the same time if needed. Hope that helps.
