The portuguese language to me sounds so beautiful, especially southern dialect. Nonetheless I'm having big trouble understanding you guys, I deeply fell in love with Portugal and its people. Since my home is Germany, the overall authentic kindness and soulfulness I encountered in PT is a big contrast to people's mentality here. Saudações da Alemanha!

Don't worry. There is an explanation for that. Current German language, Hochdeutsch, is an artificial language created for administrative reasons, it was never meant to be spoken language. It was used just for writing letters between the years 1700-1850. Around 1850 emerged the first native speakers, since Hochdeutsch was being learned in the school since 1800, and some freaks decided to speak to their children in that language instead in their own language, Saxon or Platduutch... Since Hochdeutsch has ridiculous grammar, putting verbs on the end of the sentence, Wortstellung etc, brain of the kids got alternative development. So nowadays, if you watch brainscan of people from all around the world, everyone has the same brain activity, apart from Germans and Austrians, they have 4 times higher left hemisphere activity and right hemisphere is switched off. That makes Germans 4 times more clever than anyone else but behaving like robots, it's not always a good idea to switch half of the brain off....

This type of content is fantastic! Just listening to conversational Portuguese (not scripted) is incredibly helpful. It would be amazing, though, if you could add subtitles in Portuguese. (The “auto generated“ captions are probably not very accurate.) It would be SUPER amazing if you could add Portuguese AND English subtitles (dual subtitles like you did for your questions, but for the whole video.) I know this would be a lot of work, but it would be super awesome and I would watch your videos over and over again! That said, I did enjoy the video and thought it was great. Please keep making these “conversation“ videos! Thank you!

What she says at 5:23 simply reminded me of the breakthrough I had during my Erasmus time. Getting to know the right colleagues, and going to the right cafe/bar and keep engaging with them made me even more enthusiastic about diving into the Portuguese culture. There is a positive feedback mechanism! And to me, the moment I started to defend some parts of the Portuguese culture I used to critic, I knew I fell in love with the vida portuguesa.

Foi um bom vídeo. Para mim foi uma tarefa árdua seguir o diálogo, porque a tua convidada não falava duma maneira "profissional" como um político, mas como uma pessoa real, que tem pensar sobre o que quer dizer quando está a falar. Só o constante movimento dela foi um pouco stressante para mim, mas acredito que ela foi tb stressada, não parecia que ela faz isto regularmente. Muito obrigado às duas senhoras.

@@PortugueseUnlocked Yes, the subtitles is very helpful. I have been switching in between English and Portuguese to try and understand more of the words themselves and how they're pronounced. But perhaps for another video it might be useful to have in the description for example the dialogues in text so you could compare the English and Portuguese text at the same time!

For a Swedish guy who has had exactly 0 lessons in Portuguese, but who has lived in Brazil for 5 years, I found the dialect from Portugal very different. Many vowels are closed sounding and there is a lot of "sh", even in the middle of the words. Not easy to understand. To me, it sounds like a Dutch person speaking Portuguese.
