I assume it's because this channel films everything in Korea so it's the sort of the "common" language in their videos. But yeah I wish they just spoke in their native tongue instead.
"German" girl had absolutely no clue and gave a lot of misinformation. It's almost like German isn't her native language. uniqlo would be spoken like a regular u like booze, we don't have this "you" sound (This might be excusable if one assumes it's an English brand but among all the other misinformation it's not) Pokemon is spoken with a long o, not a short one, just check for the German intro, French words would just be pronounced french as for a German possible, usually only 60-year old Manfred would say Kommes if he saw a word like commes which is obviously French. It's also common sense that a French c sound is also like our ß: You don't have to study French to know this, we literally have adapted French words in our language with the same sounds. Also, no German would say Kass-i-o: It's Caaaaasio with a long a and a soft s, exactly like in Italian and French If you are familiar with German you know that a short vowel is mostly spoken before a double consonant, obviously there is no in CASIO. This girl pronounces every vowel short no matter the word.I don't know what kind of phonetics this girl is supposed to represent but it's definitely not the German one. Btw. she also said Honda with a super soft D like she would mimic a Japanese accent, maybe she just have been living too long abroad LOL.

To be honest though, when i speak english for a while i tend to automatically switch to english pronounciation of non-english words. Same goes when i have to speak french or spanish, if not more. It's not that easy to switch phonetics for one single word when you are speaking in a phonetically very different zone. Also, depending where and how she grew up, it can very well be that she is just used to brands and names being pronounced far closer to the english or original pronounciation. Even i at my 37 years old am so much on the internet and so used to english pronounciation on YT, Twitch and other social media, that i have a hard time remembering how to pronounce some brand names in 'proper' german.

It's funny how the finnish person said correctly all the ones she didn't know and the brands she knew she said weirdly. By finnish standards that is. In Finland we don't say "pokemoni", never heard that in 30 years unless it's the plural "pokemonit". We say "pokemon". And we say asics like japanese unless someone is pretentious about their pronunciation and thinks it's an english brand. Even if it was english we'd say it like japanese though. We also wouldn't say "muji" like english dz, or "muhi" like spanish. We would say "muji" like in english "muyi". Unless we heard it in japanese and then we'd say it with the "dz". Her Panasonic is right, probably hasn't heard it if she wasn't allowed to use electronics and/or she's too young, because everyone know Panasonic VHS machines if not the audio gear. Yamaha sure is popular in Finland, making everything from instruments to motorbikes and boat motors and you name it, just a huge brand. I was a bit shocked about the example of "when I was young I used to play Super Mario Heroes", being such a new game I hadn't even heard of it. Everyone I know would say "when I was young I played Super Mario Bros" (1-3) or maybe Super Mario 64 if they're young. Funny how when it comes to Lexus, japanese spell it as an english word. Similar to the japanese brand with french name. Throws quite a wrench in the wheel.

The pronunciation wasn’t quit on the spot for a couple of words. I don’t know why she did it this way. Maybe she doesn’t life in Germany anymore and therefore it wasn’t natural for her anymore to pronounce it like a German would do
I like the point Xen brought up about the longer vowel sounds in British English. You really notice the French influence on English when a British person is speaking RP, both British English and French are very elegant languages. Our English in Wisconsin is more like how Jessica speaks, it's very German, Dutch and Scandanavian influenced, so it's more, idk, abrupt or maybe utilitarian? More of a challenge to wax poetic with.

That Japanese girl who explained what lexus is .. thank you 😊 you've actually helped me stay sane 😜
I’ve seen it a lot on similar shows… for those who don’t know, Lexus is the luxury brand owned by Toyota. The same way, Infiniti is the luxury brand of Nissan. Sure, all of these four are Japanese. And also there’s an Acura, luxury/performance brand of Honda, but they failed their worldwide marketing strategy so they’re mostly represented in US/UK, and a lot of their early models nowadays are sold under the Honda brand.
The german girl made the S sound of many of these sound very english. For example, her "Casio" has a very fast and sharp S and where I'm from the first syllable is usually slightly longer and the S is a rather smooth sound, comparable to the english Z. Makes me wonder if her native german dialect or "internationalification" is the reason for that.
French and Japanese both have little to no stress points in their words, which is why when the sounds are a good fit for French, the meter and rhythm of the words are similar. North American English very commonly stresses the second syllable in 3-syllable words. British English does as well, but to a lesser extent.
Should’ve invited an American. “Toy-yodas” and “Pokey-mans” all around 😂

Missed opportunity to include Mazda. Most European countries would say something like Mazz-dah but I know for example that in Japanese it's actually more like an English person would pronounce Ma-tsu-da. Way different. Since I know this (I drive a Mazda since 2020) I've been annoying all my friends with it basically lol.

Yamaha started as a musical instrument company (hence its logo of 3 tuning forks) but since diverse into other industries. Of course, the most popular consumer product is the motorbikes

Italian pronunciation for brands is very very similar to Spanish from Spain
Sometimes the Japanese girl on the right pronounced Japanese words with a Korean accent though....maybe because she was speaking Korean, I guess?
idk why she said it with a voiceless s, but in Germany we rather say it like "kah-zee-yo", instead of "cas-si-yo"..
I have never heard anyone talk about Muji here in Finland as Muhi. I've only heard people literally pronouncing it like you would pronounce finnish words (pronouncing it like it's written). And Pokemon is just Pokemon (the brand), we say "pokemonit" if we want to say them as plural but you rarely hear anybody saying that. Edit: Pokemoni is just one Pokemon but at least I haven't heard that very often. We just talk about Pokemon as Pokemon in general.
@sampohonkala4195
Ай бұрын
Pokemon as the company name, pokemoni if you mean any of the characters. Pokemonit in plural. You need the i at the end, otherwise you cannot form the plural as we cannot have two consonants at the end of the word like that. Many foreign words need to be adjusted as the Finnish language is based on endings that must follow certain rules.

I don't think she said "Muhi", I'm pretty sure tried to say "Muji" (Muyi), but they just transcribed it like that
In the UK it really depends what region you're from. Thank god, they used a well spoken lady with the queens english accent to do this properly. Too much bad English is being used on TV for the sake of diversity and representation. I don't want to listen to lisps, scouse or slang accents for the news. The only time they are appropriate is when depicted in a tv series or film.
Can you please use a real Person from Germany in the next video?
I've never heard a single Finnish person call Muji Muhi
Grace, sei fantastica! - Cimby 🖤🖤
In french,is not"assics"we say "azics"like we don't write like that but we say like that 😂
In Italian, "casinò" (with the accent on the o) doesn't mean "mess", but it's the gamblilng building, or room or whatever linked to the gambling games. The "casino" (without the accent on the o) means "mess" or a great noise (with instruments or something very noisy). It's original meaning is "brothel" and maybe the "noisy and messy" girls gave it the actual meaning. BTW It has a very colloquial use and should not be used in formal, but often also in informal, speaking.
Go Xen!!!!
Onda in French, the H is silent.
The Italian girl is bad asf and love her vibe
Also Pokemoni in Serbian
The word 'MUJI' hits different in Nepalese 😂🤭
A couple of weeks ago, an episode of 🇫🇮 Top Gear Finland provided an interesting fact about the Nordics' most purchased car models (data from 2022). I really don’t want to sound rude, but the German women’s pronunciation is not how we pronounce these brands. (Most of the brands) She sounds wayyy more English. Also maybe be it’s just the NRW me speaking here, but Comme des garçons is pronounced exactly like French people say it in Germany. In German most brands are pronounced like it’s actually pronounced in the original language. So plz don’t misunderstand the pronunciation from, how she pronounces it in German. I have a lot of family members, who grew up in different places in Germany and a lot of friends living in different regions, which is why I can say in all regions of Germany: that’s not how we pronounce these brands. I hope everyone takes this as just a fact. I just wanted to point that out. Maybe it’s because she talked more in English.

The Finnish girl is quite accurate in most words, although we have this problem that English or American pronounciation becomes familiar through movies and social media. I think the German girl struggled with that even more. One word where the Finn missed a Finnish way - or an alternate Finnish way - of saying was Toyota. More Finnish would be adding an extra y-sound and say Toy - yota. But overall she was very accurate and even emphasized the differences slightly, showing she had a very good understanding of nuances.
