Maybe outdated but I really enjoyed the flight to Tokyo with LOT. The Service was great and the dessert wagon was incredible. My boyfriend who is 209cm big could really sleep for the first time! Travelling as a couple it is a good product... the prize is unbeatable!

Hi Josh, I am a person who prefers to look out the windows, not just for the scenery, but because of my fear of flying, and claustrophobia, I need that sense of space, and like to make sure the wings and engines aren't falling off !🤣

The engines aren't really whats keeping the plane in the air. They just thrust it forward. If all the engines were to go out, the plane would still be flying. It would not maintain altitude, but it would be glidable to a place where it can land. I don't recall any incident where a plane has fallen out of the sky because the engines quit. In fact, they pretty much all landed somewhere. As for the wings, they are actually being pressed upward by the air, which generates the lift in order to fly. So the wings breaking off isn't going to happen.
I've flown on LOT eight times already and it is the only plane I've ever flown on. Maybe outdated, but comfortable and trusted. Great job on filming!

So you have nothing to compare it to....
The best part of this mostly outdated seat is the very wide footrest. Most of the more modern hard products have these very narrow foot wells, the additional privacy notwithstanding. Flew LOT between Singapore and London and the cuisine could only be described as eclectic and lacking choice.
Fond memories of Poland and LOT. Miss the food and scenery in Poland. Last flew LOT when they had the 767-300ER which was a long time ago! The service wasn't so great but had a good and friendly interaction with the pursuer during disembarkation.
FWIW, on the long-haul routes I care about (ex Eastern Europe to the US), LOT's business class is always priced significantly cheaper than the competition (bar Finnair). If other airlines, like LH or AF, charge ~$4k from an Eastern European capital, LOT will charge $2-2.5k. So even though the product may be outdated, it's still a flat bed and it is priced fairly. I was curious to hear about the cabin heat. Previous reviewers complained that it was very hot in the LOT-operated Dreamliners.

A lot of people love these automated shades in the dreamliner - i personally don't like it at all. I want to decide and look out of the window whenever I want to....
@4evertrue830

The pull down shades in the old version are made of plastic and carry a lot of additional weight.I think the reason for it is to reduce weight so the aircraft can be more fuel efficient in the air.
@greyshark3478
2 жыл бұрын
@@4evertrue830 True, but that's not the point. The issue Josh and other people have with these windows is that the crew decide whether they are dimmed or not. So if you want to look over the window you can't, because the crew decided to dim it. The passenger should have full control over them all the time, except take off/landing of course.
@Guerry-3
2 жыл бұрын
Good point. I whole heartedly agree! Although I have never flown on a 787, I have seen videos of the degrees of window shading on the aircraft. Even in its darkest position, I was still able to view out the window during daylight hours. Nevertheless, on overseas flights to and from the US, there are still fascinating and entertaining things to see enroute, when the IFE, reading, etc. become boring.
@spongebubatz
2 жыл бұрын
I agree, it just seems like an overly complicated solution for something that’s already as simple as it can get. While I love the technology behind it and see the advantages of it, the fact that the crew can control the shades is a real downside for me. Luckily my crew didn’t do that on the two Dreamliner flights I had, but if they did I’d be pissed
@mojabaka
2 жыл бұрын
It‘s cool to play around with the buttons for 1 minute, but then it gets boring lol. In my case, I didn‘t really care that the crew decides to dim it because they only dimmed it over Siberia at night, where you can‘t see anything anyway. I guess on some airlines they dim it during the day? That is really stupid.
I flew LOT dreamliner to the US. For me it was a pleasant flight. Every airline has things to improve on as does LOT, but still I think it's better than many other airlines.
I remember flying LOT in the 1980s, when it served hot meals in economy, when BA served a cold dish. Nowadays the airlines are quite similar, bar Bulgaria Air. Hope LOT improves its Business Class quality, I guess that will come when the fleet is updated. Thanks for the video Josh.
You always fast forward the best part, the acceleration on the runway and take off... what a thrill!
@4evertrue830

To me that is the part that frightens me most when pilots put the plane to duch high speed it takes off like a fighter jet.
By the way, behind you, where you were sitting in the lounge, there is an extended lounge, which is much more pleasant in terms of furnishing. LOT generally has a problem with punctuality/reliability. On the penultimate flight from HAM-TBS I had to spend the night in WAW because I did not reach the connecting flight in WAW.Last Sunday WAW-TBS one hour delay at check-in and then we had to wait again almost 45 minutes until the luggage was delivered to the plane.

I took the same flight and the same route just some weeks before you. Was flying their 787-9 in the special independence livery :) which it has the same cabin as their 787-8. The most scary thing that happened on that flight is that I had a rejected takeoff 😳 (can be watched on my channel). Anyway lot was one of the first operator of the 787 in Europe so I’m not surprised if the cabin is quite outdated. I do find it better than European business class though (the seat not the food)
I would like to see the decommissioning of the flight attendant cabin window dimmer master switch on the 787. Many passengers pay a premium to book a window seat so they should have the option to enjoy the view at whatever intensity of light offered by mother nature. I can watch a video any time on the ground, but the real time view out the window is the real entertainment IMHO. I do notice more passengers in America are quite content to have the blinds closed in their row from push back to arrival. I am torn when I select a seat these days as I prefer aisle seat access, but it drives me crazy to have the blinds closed by the window seat occupants on the critical phases of flight, take off and landing! Perhaps I'll have to book the row in order to be happy?!?!?
great review, and useful points. thanks for the video
Golly, is the business class on LOT outdated? That was mentioned a few dozen times. Probably OK for a 2 hour intra-European flight.

This is the same business class LOT sells for flights to *Seoul* and *Singapore.* That is MISERABLE compared to what you can get on TK or the other Gulfies.

It's a LOT better than the Eurobusiness that many airlines would use on the 3hr flight on a 737/32x. Agree it's a dated product, but it's also horribly space inefficient for the airline. By replacing it with one of the very common foot cubby J designs they could probably add another row (Qantas did this when they replaced the SkyBedII with the Suites)

I flew LOT to Tokyo in the 787 in 2019 and everything was fine. I‘m an economy peasant though, so my opinion probably doesn‘t matter. I flew to Tokyo again with Qatar Airways in 2020 with a 777 and yes it was better, but also more expensive and come on, it‘s Qatar Airways. So in my opinion, LOT is a completely fine airline with good seats.
@parisdiacs1600

@@odeiraoloap ...but is it miserable considering on LOT you pay a fraction of what TK or middle eastern carriers charge? On some routes - if one books well in advance LOT charges 50% less than on other carriers. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. If one wants a business class product such as the q-suites, fine - then go and pay the premium price at Qatar airways. But don't expect the same when you fly LOT and pay considerably less.
loved the flight as always
Long haul Business Class is indeed an improvement on menu. Also, I noticed you mentioned that your neighbor can watch you sleep. The arm rests actually are able to be raised to create a “wall” of sorts spanning from your shoulders on back. They raise about 12-14” allowing for a bit more visual privacy from your neighbor (hopefully they don’t snore!). Service was impeccable too. Worth the upgrade at their reasonable price.
It will be interesting to see some end-of-season tourism figures from the Mediterranean countries. Greece seems to have made the best effort at welcoming air-travellers.
I just flew the new United Polaris 777 and I would choose the LOT product over that. Yes, it needs to be refreshed, but the room of the seat and length of the bed makes a difference for me over a long haul flight. The trade off is the privacy factor and old IFE so it comes down to preference. Either is great and way better than coach. My experience with LOT is that business is only half full most of the time.
My biggest disappointment on a LAX - SYD was when the crew blacked out the windows shortly after takeoff and would not allow you to un dim them. When I asked if I could "open" the shade I was curtly told no. I missed a beautiful full moon flight over the South Pacific. The crew didn't open the windows until we were on short final into SYD. I was in Premium Economy and had a lovely seat to look outside. I did write a complaint letter to AA but never got a response. Other than that the flight was very good.
Honestly I prefer those "outdated " seats rather than new narrow "coffins" BTW a few months ago I occupied exactly same seat !
Sunset over Crete is awesome! I had the same luck last saturday on an Airbus A320 from Amsterdam to Heraklion, stunning views :D.
Nice review. Great that you stress pros and cons of the Lot Airlines. Not only delights as Sam Chui does. Hope Polish press will grab you review.
I so agree with you on window dimming by the crew!
Those chocolate plum candies are the best! :)
I travelled with LOT from Warsaw to Tokyo 5 years ago. I flew in economy but it was really lovely. The crew was nice and friendly and food was pretty OK too. It was quite easy for me to "survive" the long flight. Going to Tokyo again this year and based on my previous experience I chose LOT again :)
I flew on WestJet business class on the Dreamliner and they did the same thing dimming the windows and one of the crew gave me a dirty look when I kept making my windows bright 😂

I've flown this product on long-haul flights to the U.S. quite often, especially since LOT is a star alliance member, and sometimes has some competitive prices compared to Lufthansa (I'm from Germany). The service on international flights is pretty great, and the seats, compared to Lufthansa are much more comfortable, especially the sleeping experience is better. Is a 2-2-2 config in business outdated? Definitely! But among the 2-2-2 you'll travel with LOT most comfortably, in my opinion. Additionally, the non-Schengen lounge in WAW is better, too and offers plenty of hot food options.

I’ve flown many, many Dreamliners with various airlines and every single one of them had the windows dimmed during day flights. Does my head in - I don’t get it. My recent flight with Air New Zealand had the windows dimmed on a day flight but wasn’t really an issue as I was the only passenger in Premium Economy.
Would agree with being able to bin the windows yourself especially in business. Would be cool to see a review on luxair. 👍🏼
Josh, I'm with you, I want to choose if I want to dim the light coming from the window! Love the vlogs!
Hey Josh. Couldn't agree more about having a dim cabin during a day flight. I flew from Toronto to Hong Kong and the flight path took us over the North Pole. I was enjoying my view and snapping some pictures when a FA shouted at me to close the blind. I believe the Air Canada crew were more interested in having the passengers nod off to sleep than the fantastic views.

Josh I totally agree, Dreamliner windows are super clever but that is lost when the crew can do whatever they like and without asking! :o/
Excellent
If I have a window seat it’s because I want to look out of the window, I think Boeing was crazy to give the crew the ability to close the windows on a whim. If someone wants to sleep on a daylight flight they should bring an eye mask and not expect everyone else to sit in the dark!
we're not outdated, we're 𝒸𝓁𝒶𝓈𝓈𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁
Cool, I will check both of your videos.
I can only confirm that LOT has an outdated infotainment system in business class in their dreamlininers, I flew with them to Tokyo in 2018 . Also it's quite the same case for Lufthansa in their jumbo jets. Fair review 👌.
The worst airline checked luggage is $248 so expensive
The best seat config I saw was in UA 787-900 (individual boxes). The one in LOT is like in Lufthansa but IMHO a way better food in LOT and service as well. In fact the worst service experience of all BC flights was Lufthansa for me (always, not just once). Let's see what LOT will modify in its business class with new planes which they are about to buy (possibly Airbus this time). And BTW I'm referring to transatlantic flights.
Great video as always! Yes I as well like to determine window controls by myself! All the very best und herzlichen Gruss von Frank aus Najomtien, Thailand!
Flown once on Saudia 787 in 2016 on domestic route aka Jeddah to Riyadh. Now i’ll be flying from Istanbul to Dallas on 787-9 economy class in Dec 21 The window dimming by crew is however annoying as I think passengers should have access as they desire
I flew on Iberia A321 business on monday. We got a proper delicious hot meal (2 options), appetizer and dessert. It was a longer flight though (4hr). This LOT meal reminds me of LH "light meals" in business. Not great, not terrible

i am flying LOT business class flight from warsaw to tokyo tonight. quite excited as i dont often do long haul business class. You do know, however, when you are sleeping you can pull the arm rest up to divide you from the person next to you (meaning they cant see you when you sleep). i am in an aisle seat though so everyone else can :-)
Ive never flown LOT before but im looking forward to
Awesome review as always! Was expecting much for the food. I hate the fact that crew can lock the dimmer of the window...
I got a question about the seatings, if you are the on the window seat and you want to go outside but the aisle seat guy is in full flat then how do you get out?
As I never fly business class(but for 200€ I might try)looks pretty comfy to me I actually like shutters
Except from the inflight entertainment I think the cabin is ok, also for a longer flight. I like that the bed has the full with ober the complete length, so therere is enough space for your feet when sleeping. Of course there are better products out there, but as you said yourself, the cabin is a lot like a few other airlines and even Lufthansa and some toher companies with a different seat concept don't do better, only different.
Hi Josh , great review yet again ! Do you have any plans taking a trip on the new Air Belgium A330 Neo?
I'm 193, size 13 feet and I prefer the old business class. Much more room and I can fit on the bed.
Wonderful
Josh, this was SPOT on!!!!!! 10:42sec ".(at LOT)..a LOT more wider than the Hering bone seats...."
These seats type is most comfortable of all business seats. In the the newer kind, in flat bed mode, legs are trapped inside under display screen. One can not bend knees without hitting the bottom of display which is painful. I am glad these type of seats are available including Lufthansa.
It's like you predicted your own comment section. Thank you for the great content.
Great Review Josh! I flew LOT recently for the first time (to Asia in business class), and honestly I was impressed with them. The cabin may be outdated, but you get what you pay for. On certain long-haul flights - if you book well in advance you can secure cheap fares e.g.1900 EUR in business class to Asia. Which in some cases is nearly 50% less than what you pay with other European/Gulf carriers. I don't think one can therefore complain about their product when LOT offers such attractive fares. Now if the fare was around the same price as the other carriers - then I would totally agree with you.
Well, for intra-Europe business I say that’s one of the better products. If you fly the same plane to Asia it’s a different story.
Ill be flying on Lot from Miami to Warsaw and I’m looking forward to it. In the past I had the best sleep time on these planes even with passengers beside me.
Flew on Air Canada for the first time in a couple of years and i’m glad to see they finally added a “Skip Ad” button to their entertainment! Hopefully all airlines now have it. So annoying !
Hi Josh! You forgot to mention the free of charge massage in business lounge of LOT
LOT is the best airline in the world!
Good morning!!!😃☀️
Air France's A380 had the same entertainment system controller. It felt insanely outdated and tired, after having seen for example Finnair's A350.
Hi Josh. You're the customer so it should be your choice as to how you would like the window's set. Happy flying
Josh, I love your sense of humor! hahah
There is a divider between the seats that you could’ve pulled out. It’s not big but it would give privacy when lying down.
I prefer a light cabin even on an overnight flight but I don’t want to bother others so I leave the shade down and peek now and again.
That foodd looked amazing compared to what LOT served me recently. A near 3 hour flight from LCY-VNO on one of their Embraers and they dished up Buckwheat Pancakes! Possibly the blandest most uninspiring dish I've ever had the misfortune to eat whilst airborne.
Hi Josh. I just saw your review and read some of the comments. It seems that the inflight service is good and that, for me, goes a long way in making a long journey easier. I agree that on a short daytime flight without significant time zone changes, windows up is a personal and justified choice. My main criticism is that how, on business class, does a bottle of wine pair with a plastic cup? LOT can do better especially when remembering that Europeans are wine lovers. Plastic destroys not only the planet but also a decent wine! I just also subscribed 😊. Good report!
Josh I always look forward to your flight reviews! .I agree with you re the dimming of the cabin windows ,On reflection I had a window seat on a VS B789 from LHR to JFK and I didn’t control the tint myself I guess this was done by the cabin crew . Ps liked your loo review 😀
"Watch my video instead, then." Love it.
I prefer the older manual window blinds.

The day u uploaded this it was my 1 year anniversary
Im not too sure whether or not if i should fly with LOT again after my nightmare flight from Frankfurt to Warsaw in June when we boarded their Embraer 190/195 and we all noticed that the baggage handlers have not yet completed removing the luggage from the last flight and they have already closed the door and disconnected the ramp, there was some disgraceful behavior with the luggage handlers with me and other's noticing one guy that was just throwing the luggage off the plane into the luggage trailer and some of the luggage was thrown onto the ground and more reckless behavior, and then his colleague told him to stick his head him, and then the guy in question was going off at the other guy. We weren't given any announcements about what was going on and what time they reckon the plane will leave, but once they came around with water, we all knew that we were all gonna be sitting there for a bit, and around about that time they have closed all of the luggage compartment doors on the plane, but we sat there for another hour. We were now 2 hours and 30 minutes late when we took off, we had a fast flight and quite a fast approach into Warsaw which saved us 30 minutes. Now here came another issue, it took the airport 30+ minutes to get our planes luggage to the conveyor belt, which now meant i missed my bus to Kielce (a town in Poland) and that was the last one for the day, and we had to buy train tickets to get there (it took us 4 trains and 1 angry ass ticket lady to get to Kielce thanks to LOT) and believe it or not there was no apology from anyone at LOT. I wrote an email off to them and I've yet to have received a response from them. Leave all that shit behind now, but if LOT were to operate their route from Singapore to Warsaw once again, then I may consider flying with them again, but for now on i will try get Qatar, Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa to get to Poland.
At my airline it is against our SOP to lock the windows on our 787 fleet.
I was about to write about Lufthansa but you were quick enough
Paying €200 for a business class seat through europe and served such nourishments i think you are very lucky. The seats can still be 2-2-2 in business class if only they are starggard in a zig-zag formation, that will be ideal....
it would be nice if you could include the route (Warsaw - Heraklion) into the video title or description; I had to watch more than half-way through the video to find out that you are reviewing a shorthaul Business Class flight and not a longhaul one;
LOT just announced recently that they will start retrofitting the cabins of their 787-8s. Honestly, I still prefer the 787-8 cabin over the 787-9 cabin. While the 787-9 cabin looks a lot newer, the IFE is slightly worse. The cursor glitches a lot more, and there is no remote controller in economy (there is in Business class). I also hate the dimmable windows in Dreamliners. They are either very blue or very yellow depending on the dimming option.
I never saw airline windows like that. Most of them are the usual choice of shade up or down. P
