On 18 December 2021 Trenitalia begins a service between Italy and France through Modane using some Frecciarossa 1000 trains, in competition with the service provided by SNCF with the French High Speed ​​trains and the TGV. The Frecciarossa connections between Italy and France, in the Turin-Milan section, can travel on the high-speed line, which the TGVs cannot do as they are not equipped for ERTMS signaling, and this allows a reduction of about half an hour in the total travel time. The first race from Milan started at 6:25, while at 7:26 there was the first departure from Paris to Milan.
Since December 2021, some Frecciarossa 1000s have been used by Trenitalia France for the international Frecciarossa Milan - Paris route. These have been equipped for the French lines with the addition of the safety and signaling systems TVM (for LGV lines), KVB (for traditional lines) and RSO (Optical Signal Repeater). They have also been made three-voltage as the possibility of powering at 1.5 kV DC has been added thanks to the arrangement already present on the trains.
